Chapter 5 THIS IS BULLSHIT

Vanessa took a deep sigh of relief when she left Karen's office, she wiped away the beads of sweat that have found her way to her face. She was going to her office first to calm her nerves and her mind before going to Clark's office to pass the information she has for him from Karen. Mariana was in her office, pacing around restlessly when she got there, she peered at the passage way to see if anyone was following her before locking the door. "What are you doing here?" She asked in surprised. "I was nervous, I wanted to know the way things are going" Mariana replied.

"No Mariana, we can't be seen together, not for the mean time" "Seeing each other doesn't mean anything" "It means a lot, what if Karen had someone keep an eye on you, remember you came late to work today, I know he must have questioned you" Vanessa said "Yes he did question, but he seems as if he believed what I said" Mariana answered. "For Godsake Mariana, you know Karen is a sharp guy, he always look deeper into things from different perspective" "Let's leave that aside, how did your meeting with him go?" Mariana asked "It was smooth, but I know he is suspecting me, I was able to buy us sometime" "That is good to hear" she said collapsing into a chair. "We are heading out to the warehouse now, Karen, Clark and I" Vanessa stated "why?" "Alex is missing, and we can't just sit around hoping he would show up" "But he can never show up" "I know, we just have to play along with what ever they do and by the way they found blood on the floor in the warehouse" Vanessa said. "Blood? Vanessa, we forgot the clean the place after getting rid of the corpse" Mariana said raising her voice "Mariana, you have to be calm" "How on earth did you forget such an important step?" Mariana queried "How on earth did I forget such an important step?" Vanessa asked mimicking her "My head was messed, I wasn't even thinking straight, so how was I suppose to remember every single details?" She asked "So what are we going to do now?" "We can't do anything, I will keep talking to Karen" Vanessa replied. "What about the boss, what is he saying about it?" "Well, he knows Alex is missing but he doesn't know the rest part of the story and Karen said he shouldn't find out about it yet" Vanessa said "We have to act fast, we have to think ahead of them" Mariana said biting the inside of her mouth. "That is why I want to play along with them, so I get to know their moves and think of ways to outsmart them" Vanessa replied. "I have to get back to my post now" Mariana said standing up "Yes, you have to get going and we can't be seen with each other at work we have to keep things normal and we can't talk about this at work or even over the phone" Vanessa said "I got you, take care of yourself" "I will" Mariana sneaked out of her office and hurried over to her office which was at the far end of the passage way. Vanessa walked up to her back and brought out a pack of wipe, she dragged one out of the pack and dabbed her face softly with it. After that, she kept it back into her bag and brought out her lipgloss along with a mirror. She peered into the mirror as she applied the lipgloss on her lips. When she was done she returned the things back into her bag, adjust the corporate short skirt she was wearing, threw on a blazer than was hanging at the back of her office chair and walked out of her office heading to Clark's office.

POV CLARK'S OFFICE

Clark was speaking to someone over the phone when Vanessa walked in. "Why were you late for work today?" He asked when he got off the phone. She sat down and spined the chair playfully, "Are you the boss? Why are you asking?" She asked "No, I am not the boss but doesn't mean I would not be worried" "I had some business to take care of" Vanessa replied. "We were suppose to have dinner at my place last night Vanessa" Clark said hurting "I know, but I couldn't leave what I was doing" Vanessa said trying to reach out to hold is hand, but he pulled his hand back. "What business were you having with Alex that made he go out with just you last night?" He asked "That wasnt it, I had to go see my mum when I finished up with Alex" Vanessa replied. "That wasn't my question, I asked about the business you are having with Alex" "I can't tell you about that Clark" "What do you mean by you can't tell me?" "Alex warned me not to tell anyone" "So what are you and Alex now?" "Come on Clark, it is nothing just business and I can't tell anyone about it except he wants me to" "Vanessa do you understand what you are getting yourself into?" Clark inquired "Yes, I have no choice but to do his bidding" "Does his father knows about this so called business between both of you?" "I doubt" Vanessa replied "Do you know you will be in a huge mess if his father finds out that you are having a business with his son behind his back?" Clark asked concerned "I'm already in a huge mess" Vanessa said under her breathe "What did you say?" Clark asked leaning forward "oh nothing, I just feel Alex his a man of his own, he should be allowed to have a life of his own away from his father grips" She muttered "I can see you have your speech prepared to face the boss" Clark chuckled loudly "Be careful Vanessa, D'Arrezzo is not one to deal with using light words" he added "I believe by now you know Alex, your secret business partner is missing" "Karen told me about it this morning" Vanessa said "And what did you tell him?" "I told him what happened" "Which is?" "I left him at the warehouse to go see my mum" "Alone? Why didn't you inform Karen you were leaving?" He asked surprised. "He said he wanted to be alone" "He said that?" "Look Ckark, we don't have time for much talks, Karen wants us to go to the warehouse and check things out again" "Now?" "Yes right now, and he said you should pull a call across to the boss and tell him about the movement. I will be waiting for you at the reception" she stated, walking out of the office.
