Chapter 4 NO NEWS YET!

"Keep an eye on her, she knows something but she doesn't want to spill" Karen said to Clark over the phone. "There will be no need for that say, Vanessa just walked in and she is on her way to your office" Clark replied. "Nevertheless, still keep an eye on her" he hanged up. Karen pushed aside the books scattered on his table to one side and brought out a plain white sheet of paper. He was scribbling something on the piece of paper when a knock came on the door "Sir Karen, it is Vanessa" came a voice from the other end of the door. "Come in Vanessa" Karen replied.

She walked him and sat down on a chair opposite his desk. "Where have you been?" He asked dropping his pen down. "I went to see my mum at the end of town, I told you about it" she replied calmly "What do you mean by you went to see your mum at the end of town? What about Alex? Where is he?" Karen asked exasperated "After my work with Alex last night, I left him at the warehouse and went on to see my mum" "You left Alex at the warehouse? All by himself?" He stood up angrily and slammed his hands on the table. "He told me not to call anyone that he wanted to be alone" Vanessa replied "Alex said that?" "Yes, I was about calling you when I was about leaving, but he told me not to, I also told him that I needed to get a permission from you before leaving to see my mum and he told me he has granted me the permission" Vanessa said. "Why did he want to be alone? Which work did you do for him?" Karent went on to ask "It is highly confidential Sir Karen, he told me not to tell anyone about it" Vanessa stated. "What? Why is the Boss's Son working directly with you when I am the head of the team?" Karen asked, boiling with anger. "I don't know why he did that, when I asked him, he told me he has the right to work with anyone from the team" "He said that to you?" "Yes Sir Karen he did" Vanessa answered "His is father aware of this business between the both of you?" "I don't know about that" "Of course he isn't, because when I talked about you with him today he asked who you were" Karen said sitting down back. "Sir, is there any problem?" Vanessa asked inquisive "Yes, there is a problem Vanessa, we have not heard from Alex since last night" Karen broke out. "What? Have his house been checked? She asked springing up on her feet with surprise. "Yes, we have checked everywhere" Karen replied. "Did he by any chance say he was waiting back at the warehouse for anyone?" He asked. "Not really, he only made a call and told the person that he was ready" "Ready for what?" Karen asked leaning forward a little "I dont know Sir, that was the only thing he said before he hanged up" Vanessa answered "Was he speaking with a male or a female?" "I have no idea, I couldn't hear the other speaker voice" Vanessa replied. "We found blood on the floor of the warehouse last night" Karen said. "Blood? This is getting serious, shouldn't we do something?" "D'Arrezzo doesn't know about this yet, and he shouldn't know about it" "Why sir, if he finds out about it himself, he would not take this likely with our team" Vanessa queried. "I know, but if we tell him about it, it will make matters worst for us" Karen said relaxing his back on his chair. "That blood means just two things" he continued. "It is either he got himself injured in a fight or he was killed and his body was gotten rid of" Karen said "Killed? That isn't possible, how are we even sure that is his blood?" Vanessa asked. "If it isn't, who else will it be?" "Probably the person that came there to see him, maybe a fight burst out and he injured the person, what if he was the one that killed the person and got rid of the body?" "If that was the case, Alex would have showed up here before now and seek protection from his father" Karen said "What if it wasn't an issue with another gang? I think he has an unfinished business with someone and the boss doesn't know about it, and he doesn't want him to know" Vanessa explained further. "That is where you come in Vanessa" "That is where I come in? How?" She asked confused. "Vanessa, you have to tell me the kind of business you were having with Alex" "How does that relates to this?" She asked "Through that, we can also know tye kind of business he may be having with people on the outside" "But he warned me not to tell any other party about it" "He is in trouble Vanessa, and that information will be very useful to us" Karen said trying to persuade her. "Honestly sir, I can't say anything until I know he is really in trouble, for now I can't utter a word about the business" Vanessa replied "I have sent some guys out there to look for anything that may lead us somewhere" Karen said "You can go back to work, I will call you if anything comes up" he added. "Sir, why don't we go back and check the warehouse again, instead of sitting down here and folding our hands. We may not have much time on our side, so all hand must be on deck" Vanessa said. "You have a point there, give me some minutes let me tidy things up, we would go together to the warehouse along with Clark. You can go and tell him about it" "Yes sir" Vanessa replied. "Tell him we would leave in a few minutes time" Karen continued "I will sir" "He sould also put a call through to boss and tell him we are heading

out to the warehouse" "Okay sir" She replied and left the office.
