Chapter 5 Dave's wrath

CALIFORNIA

Cody came out of the car and opened the door for Cindy and she came out looking so beautiful. They entered the restaurant and went to the VIP section. He opened the door and she entered the beautiful room

"Wow this place is beautiful" she wowed

"It's a good thing you love this place" he smiled

"Thanks for bringing me here boss," Cindy said

"Can you do me a favor by calling me Cody at least now?" he asked

"Okay Cody" Cindy replied

He sat down in front of her, took the menu, and ordered a meal while Cindy did the same. The waitress went to bring the orders and Cody broke the silence.

"How are you doing," he asked

"I'm fine"

"You look beautiful," he said

"Thanks" she replied and smiled

The orders came and they began eating. He stopped and stared at her. The way her lips moved is driving him crazy.

"There's something on your lips," he said and took a serviette to wipe her lips. They stared at each other and Cindy started feeling uncomfortable. She broke the long gaze and continued eating but she still felt his gaze on her face. She choked and cough repeatedly

"Sorry," Cody said, offering her a glass of water. She gulped down almost half of the water before she calmed down

"Let's continue eating," he said and this time around he ate his meal

"How are you feeling now, hope the pain is not severe," he asked with concern

" I'm fine now" she replied feeling embarrassed already

" That's nice to hear"

They finished eating and he paid before leaving. He drove out of the restaurant and drove to an aquarium. Cindy smiled immediately after they got there and came out of the car happily. They entered the building and he got the tickets.

She smiled as she saw a lot of beautiful fish. The fingerlings swam happily and beautifully and her smile grew wider. She touched the glass as she stared at the beautiful sea creatures.

Cody smiled as he stared at her. Her smiles and everything drive him crazy. Only if she knows what he's doing to him. His heartbeat echoed in his ears and he's actually going crazy at this rate

THE NEXT DAY

Cindy entered the elevator and she came out of it when she got to her floor. She got to her office and began working.

Fortunately for her today, she's not late and even Cody is not around yet. She continued working on her desk when she heard footsteps. She looked up and saw Cody smiling at her.

"Good morning Sir"

"Good morning, how are you doing"

"I'm fine, thanks for the care and meal yesterday," Cindy said

"It's nothing, I'm looking forward to having more with you," he said

"Can we be friends?" Cody asked

"I'll think about it sir" Cindy replied

"Okay then, see you later," he said and entered his office

HOURS LATER

Cindy sat down on her chair and sighed. Cody has been acting strangely and it's bothering her. He calls her almost every time and she's already having a hint of what's going on but she's praying it's not what is coming to her mind even when everything looks like it

It's almost closing time so she's almost done with her work. She rounded up what she was doing on the laptop and arranged the files. She came out of her office and met Dwayne in front of her office.

"Hi" he greeted

"Hello, how was work today," she asked

"It was tiring" he replied

"Same here" she replied

" Mind joining me for a ride," he asked when Cody came out

"Let's go, Cindy," Cody said, holding her hands.

She stared awkwardly at the both of them before waving at Dwyane while Cody led the way out

"What's going on between them, are they into each other," he asked no one in particular as he stared at the direction they took.

Cody opened the door for her and she entered, he got in and revved the engine back to life before driving off

She entered the house after Cody left and went to freshen up. She dressed in a white shirt and bum shorts before coming downstairs to prepare dinner. She was setting the dinner when Mrs. Miller came in.

"Good evening Mom"

"How are you and how is work"

"It was fine, I prepared dinner"

"Oh... I'll be right back," she said and left for her bedroom

She came downstairs after some minutes and met Cindy eating already. She joined her on the dining table and they ate in silence.

After dinner, Cindy cleared the plates and washed them before going to join her mom in the sitting room.

"I want to discuss something with you," Miller said

"What's that mom?"

" You are old enough Cindy, it's high time you got married" she replied

" Mom, I'm old enough to take a decision, I've told you already that I'm not ready for now" Cindy Said

" I'm your mother, I know what's best, I want to see my grandchildren before it's too late" she replied

" You will see them but not just now," Cindy said

" Good night Mom" she added and left the sitting room for her room

CANADA

H.R INVESTMENTS

Cora entered her office and sighed. She has been contemplating whether to resign and collect the money from Sydney or she should keep on working. The opening of the door broke through her thought and she looked up to see her boss

"Good afternoon Sir" she greeted

"Afternoon, how are you doing," Micheal asked

"I'm fine sir" she replied

" Okay, get me a cup of iced Americano"

" Okay sir" she replied and he left

"I can't get the money even if I keep on working here, I'll resign," she thought and brought out her resignation letter

Michael entered his office and met Sydney sitted on his chair

"What do you want?" He asked

"I came to talk to you about what I told you last night" she replied with a sly smile

" I can't have anything to do with you, "Micheal said

" You want me to report you to Dave? "Sydney asked

" Do whatever you want, I'm not gonna do that"

"You are gonna regret this" she replied and stormed out of the office

She got home and went to shower. She dressed up and sent the picture to Dave. She called him to explain everything to him and also worsen the situation

She smiled when she heard what she wanted and went to the sitting room. The doorbell rang and the maids went to open the door on her order

Cora came in and met Sydney in the sitting room

"Good evening miss" Cora greeted

"What are you doing here," she asked coldly

" I already quit working at the company, I'm here for the proposed money as you've said" she replied

"I'm going to give you the money on one condition "

" What's that?"

" You are going to work in this house as a maid for one week, only then will I give you the money" she replied

" I can't do that, we made the deal already, why should I have to work for the money again," she said

" Then I see you are an ingrate, you want the money for free? " She scoffed before she continued

" I don't know why wretched people like you behave like fools, you know the money can buy you and your mother but I decided to give you the money on a condition and you're like this, you know the way out if you are not interested and also, don't think of going back to the company you won't be recruited," she said

" I'll do it" she replied and tears dropped from her eyes

" Better, prepare my dinner and tell those useless things that are preparing it to discard it," she said and Cora left for the kitchen

THE NEXT DAY -EVANS COLLEGE

Evening

Sweeney came out of the hostel and got to her car. She was about to open the door when she noticed that there were a lot of cars in the parking lot. She stared at them with a suspicious look on her face and almost immediately one of the doors was opened. A bodyguard came out and opened the door for someone she wasn't sure of

The person came out and it turned out to be Dave. She felt goosebumps on her skin and she started sweating. Her heart sank into her stomach but she tried not to show how scared she was

"How dare you" he yelled

"How dare I do what?" she yelled back though she was almost peeping on her panty. One thing she loves about herself is her courageous mind even if everything seems unwell

Dave's bodyguard brought out a phone and threw it at her. She caught it and saw Sydney's picture with her red face. She became angry immediately, her fears gradually dispersing. She threw the phone away and that aggravated Dave's anger

"Who dared you to do that to your brother's fiancee?" he yelled walking to her in anger

"Don't you dare call that bitch my brother's fiancee, he's old enough to decide, leave our lives alone, haven't you done enough, let us be, stop pestering our lives, we hate you" she yelled and was about to open the door when a slap landed on her cheek.

Her hair sprawled on her face and a cut appeared on her lips. She looked up and raised her hand to slap him but her hands stopped mid-air

Someone held it
