"But none of them is my mate," I growl and I can feel my fingers slowly shape to its claws. The anger and frustration my wolf feels surges through my veins.
"B-But, sir-"
"Didn't you hear what I've just said? GET OUT!" I let out a roar as the women along with that man scurry away and head to the exit.
Now that leaves just my faithful Beta, Finrel and myself in this room.
The Beta remains expressionless but I can still see a glimpse of fear flickering in his dark brown eyes. Yet, he doesn't say a word as he walks to the direction of the exit and closes the door.
I slump back on my seat as I heave a weary sigh.
It has been twelve years since then. Twelve years since I've received my wolf but with no signs of a mate. The Moon Goddess has shown herself to me in my dream, telling me that my mate isn't within my pack.
So I've searched far and wide. From packs from different continents and I still haven't found her till now.
Perhaps she hasn't been born yet? But it's been TWELVE-BLOODY-YEARS! It's unheard of an Alpha of the pack to rule without a mate.
My wolf whimpers after hearing my thoughts as I assure it that I haven't given up until now. Not when my pack needs me the most.
"Alpha? The Luna is outside. Should I unlock the door?" Finrel breaks the silence and I just wave my hand as a gesture of approval.
The moment the door is unlocked, my Luna barges inside. "SETH!" She rushes to my side.
As soon as she wraps her arms around my neck, Finrel excuses himself before leaving to give us some privacy.
"Has your wolf given you more pain? Are you okay?"
I only give her a cold look. How dare she only think I could succumb to my weakness?
I stand up from my chair as I storm out, heading up the spiral stairs. My Luna tails from behind heading in the direction to "our" bedroom.
I head to the balcony as I stare at the night sky.
It will be the Red Moon soon. The sky will turn crimson red as the full moon shines, luring wolves into a sexual frenzy.
It will also heighten our desire for our mates.
It is the perfect opportunity to find who my fated mate truly is.
But where can I find her? Where in this world could she be?
Just then, arms wrap around my waist and once again, my Luna, Marie, leans her head on my back.
"Please, my love. There are many wolves without their fated mates. Some Alphas choose their hearts over the fate given to them by the moon goddess."
But I didn't choose you. The council chose you to lead the pack as my Luna, is what I want to say but I stop when I turn to see Marie now wears nothing but transparent silky robes, showing off her luscious curves.
Her emerald eyes give me a knowing look as she smirks while she backs away as her fingers untie the knot of her silk-woven robe before her last piece of clothing drops on the floor.
Now bare for me to see, Marie's perky, large breasts bounce as she slowly moves with each tantalizing step.
My cock hardens at her silly tease show as Marie cups my crotch.
"My love," Marie says with her sultry voice. "I can ease your pain." She leans to my ear as she gives a play nib on my lobe.
"Marie," I glower as I give her a warning glare.
Yet, she ignores it.
She pulls the zipper down as she pulls out my large, throbbing manhood. She doesn't hesitate to wrap her little fingers around and starts fiddling it.
I groan and as she sees my frustration as her own achievement, she continues, "I am your one and only mate, Seth. Our Greymound pack is already powerful enough to withstand any other pack."
She says these sweet words but my mind wanders to my own pleasure. I haven't fucked for a while.
"So, you don't need a fated mate."
My eyes snap open as I push her away, her hand finally letting it go.
"S-Seth?"
"Know your place, Marie. You are just a temporary Luna to appease my pack."
"But I-!"
"You and I both agreed this marriage is to strengthen the ties of our opposing packs. Nothing more, nothing less."
Hurt is visibly replaced on her look as her emerald eyes grow teary. Yet, she doesn't refute as she lowers her head.
"I understand, my lord. I will be in the bedroom if y-you need me."
She picks up the robe from the floor and leaves. Once I am finally alone, I take a deep sigh.
My wolf whimpers at me and I assure it, "Patience, wolf. I won't be tempted again."
Because each time I sleep with my Luna brings more pain to my wolf. Each agonizing sex was only to fuel my own needs but my mind continuously telling me I have been betraying my "unknown" mate.
I stare at the view of the Twilight Hound City and observe the metropolitan, modern view of the city.
It is a beautiful sight and this city has been protected by my pack for generations. It has always been a peaceful city. Then my eyes wander to the farther view of the smoke coming from the opposite side of this eutopia.
It is the dirtiest part of the city and the majority of the humans live from the other side. I scorn at the filth made by these pathetic inferior creatures.
The place I will never have stepped in the ground that could soil my feet.
Then a realization dawns on me.
It is possible that my mate might be there. I've heard omegas or rouges are secretly residing from the border between humans and wolves. So, maybe...
I reach out for my phone and call the first wolf on my recent calls.
"Is there a hotel in the lower streets of those humans?" I ask.
"S-sir?" Beta Finrel is startled with my sudden interest. "There is one called the Diamond Hotel."
"Good." A ghost of a smile crosses my face. "Finrel, notify all wolves, even the rouges hiding there to attend. Tell them, it is compulsory."
"What?!"
"We will have the Red Moon party across the border."
