Chapter 3 Suspiciousness

The next afternoon, right after work, Ji Sung went to find Jae Min. Jae Min had been his best friend since high school. They almost didn't hide anything from each other.

"Do you suspect she might be from the opposing side?" Jae Min placed a cup of freshly brewed hot cocoa in front of Ji Sung.

Under the yellow light of the living room, the smell of hot cocoa mixed with the smell of milk gave off an extremely warm and pleasant scent. If it weren't for the unsettling concern about the strange staff, this would have been a dreamy winter scene.

"Come to think of it, why did she appear at this very moment? My company just held a successful seminar, raised a lot of capital, and still has a few large contracts with Ecofarm waiting to be closed. Surely many parties are also looking at this contract." Ji Sung picked up the cocoa cup and took a sip. "Well, your barista skills are really good. If you are interested in opening a cafeteria, I'll ask my dad to invest."

"Well, you don't need to flatter yourself so openly. I won't charge you anyway." Jae Min smiled and returned to the main topic. "What does she look like?"

"She's bare-faced, but I think she'd look pretty with makeup on." Ji Sung replied, imagining So Hee's face under the spotlight that day. "At first I thought she must be in her late thirties, but when I checked the file on the system, it turned out to be the same age as us. I followed her home yesterday, do you know where she is? She lives right next to the newly built Golden River apartment complex. Housing is not cheap there."

"Oh my, you don't know anything." Jae Min waved his hand. "In my company, there was a receptionist with a salary of two and a half million. She travels by bus every day. One day it rained, she dragged a fancy car to work, causing my whole company to panic. In general, there are a lot of strangers now, they just go to work because they are passionate."

"Who is passionate about cleaning floors and windows!" Ji Sung objected.

"Maybe she was just a housewife before, so she didn't have any skills after the divorce, so it was difficult to get another job." Jae Min shrugged.

"Last time you said you knew a private investigator, right? May I have his number?" Ji Sung suddenly changed the subject. In fact, this was the main reason he came here today.

"Are you really going to investigate her?" Jae Min asked, then reached for the phone, searched the private investigator's number in the list and sent it to Ji Sung. "Wow, it's like a movie! I don't think there's ever a time in my life when I need to use a private investigator."

"I should still be on guard." Ji Sung took out his phone and saved the number that Jae Min had just sent.

"So what if she really is a spy from another company, what are you going to do?"

"Wait until then." Ji Sung took the last sip of cocoa and stood up. "Well, I need to go. I'll come again and drink your cocoa."

Ji Sung said goodbye to Jae Min and got out of the car. He sat in the driver's seat and took out his phone, pressed the button to call the private investigator that Jae Min had just sent him.

The phone rang for a long time before the other end of the line answered.

"Sorry, is this Mr. Kang Dong Seok phone number?" Ji Sung politely confirmed to make sure Jae Min didn't give the wrong number.

"Yes. How can I help you?" Although the reply was quite polite, the voice of the man on the other side was quite cold and somewhat wary.

"I was introduced by Jae Min." Ji Sung told him about the matter he needed to investigate.

"It's simple, but I'm not in the city right now, won't be back in a week. If so, then we can meet in person to discuss later. I don't want to trade online." The voice on the other end was less reserved, but still rather cold. Perhaps this is the professional characteristic of private investigator work.

Ji Sung thought for a moment and then agreed. He couldn't help but feel a little uncomfortable thinking about how long it would be before he could see him again in a week. That also means it may take a few more weeks to see results. He just wanted to put an end to this as soon as possible.

The call ended, Ji Sung looked at his watch. It's not even 7 p.m yet. At 8 p.m, the night shift choir ends. Ji Sung drove to the company, but he did not go inside, just stopped on the opposite side of the road, at the same place where he parked his car yesterday.

At 8:15, So Hee came out from the inside.

Well, she's also very diligent. Ji Sung told himself, suddenly smiling lightly because the thought was unrelated to his current situation at all.

So Hee sat down and waited for the bus. Her expression was still the same as yesterday, very calm, as if she was not entangled in anything in the world. Only when she was seated in the bus, in the last row, did he feel her shoulders seem to be heavy. She closed her eyes, leaned her head against the window, and soon fell asleep.

There was a bit of anxiety in his heart.

Hopefully she won't oversleep, Ji Sung thought.

It was only when she was a stop from the apartment complex that Ji Sung saw So Hee wake up. At this time, he suddenly drove over the bus, ran to the other apartment building first. After parking, he saw the bus had just arrived. He hurried to the G3 building where So Hee had entered the day before.

He stood there waiting for her.
