Chapter 3 CHANDNI Singh

"Chandni ! What a lovely name".

A boy said and grinned stupidly as he stared at Chandni.

Chandni rolled her eyes in annoyance and frustration. She clenched and unclenched her scarf tightly in her fist.

"Thank you", She replied in a monotone voice and looked away from the boy who was grinning like a cat.

"I like you and I'm ready for this marriage", Boy said and again showed his teeth to her.

This time, Chandni snorted softly and looked at him. She sighed weakly and knew it was time to take some action.

"I want to clarify something for you", Chandni said and he left to eat snacks and wiped his hands on his pants.

Chandni scrunched her nose.

"Tell me", He said and looked at her.

"I'm not a Virgin. I hope it won't be a big deal for you", Chandni said boldly and looked at him who was gapping like a fish.

"You. You. A shameless girl", He said and stomped his feet and ran to his parents.

This action made Chandni happy.

Seeing him running away, She took a deep breath and knew about the upcoming storm in the name of her parents.

She moved towards her parents. She saw the boy and his family leave her house. Her mother came and slapped her forcefully.

A slap echoed in her ears as a tingling pain shot on her face. Her cheeks were swollen due to the pain and force.

Tears formed in her eyes but she bit her cheeks just to prevent her precious tears in front of her parents who never spent a minute to hear her problems or try to understand her actions.

"I never knew you were this shameless. Where I go wrong that you are like this Chandni", Her mother spat coldly at her.

"Maa", She tried to say but her mother showed her palm to stop her from saying anything else.

Her father shook her head negatively and left the mother-daughter alone.

"Listen, Chandni, Your marriage is fixed with Shashi and the day after tomorrow is your engagement so don't open your big dirty mouth in front of our In-Laws", Her mother said and left her alone.

Her whole family was looking sympathetically at her.

She was Chandni Singh, a broken fighter of a 24-year-old girl, who graduated from Sociology, living under the gawking eyes of her parents.

Her parents, Her father, a businessman, and her mother who had her boutique in their house.

Her Parents were not happy with her from her birth because she was a girl child and they wanted a boy. Her mother wasn't able to conceive again after a few abortions which were also girl fetuses.

(A/N:- I'm not supporting abortion or sex discrimination. Both are illegal in India. It's a crime to kill a girl's child and it's also a crime to check the gender of the fetus. Her parents never trusted her. If an unknown person puts fingers on her or blames her wrongly then her parents will agree with the unknown person and start to accuse their daughter.

Her family had two uncles who were younger than her father. She had two aunts and three cousins. Two brothers and one sister. Her grandparents were neutral with her. Neither did they stop their son and daughter-in-law nor did they support her.

Chandni chined up her face and walked like she did nothing wrong. She entered into her room and locked the door. She fell on the floor covered her mouth and started sobbing at her life.

She closed her eyes as tears were flowing down her cheeks.

"Why? Why are they forcing me to get Married ?", She whispered and tears were streaming down from her eyes

"Why was I born as a girl? Hopefully I will be a boy", She cried loudly and wiped her tears.

Time flew and it was the day of Her engagement, Chandni looked breathtakingly Beautiful in her pink Indian traditional dress but there were no signs of happiness on her face.

There was no glow or shine in her black eyes.

The pain was visible in her eyes as she stood like a lifeless doll and did whatever her mother told her to do.

Chandni was watching her parents were following the boy's family members like a slave. She gulped down her anger forcefully.

"What are they trying to prove?", Chandni thought as anger was erupting in her heart.

Her mother dragged her and made her stand near Boy, Shashi, who was creepily staring at her and blushing like a girl.

Chandni wanted to beat him to a pulp but she didn't dare to do anything because her mother was gawking at her like a hawk.

"You're looking beautiful Chandni. I'm dying to take you here", He whispered in her ear and she shivered badly and felt disgusting by his dirty thoughts.

'This man is sex craved man who needs a woman for their pleasure', Chandni thought and glared at him.

He put his hands on her bare waist and started touching her inappropriately. She dug her nails into his hands. He screamed like a girl and said, "Mummy"

His mother came running towards him and Started cooing like a baby. Chandni was confused by everything.

"Is my parents marrying me with a child?", Chandni thought confusedly.

After smiling too much they performed the engagement ceremony and the boy, Shashi was smiling too much for his reasons.

"You're mine Now. And Next week will be our wedding then I'll take you again and again in my bed", He said and she knew her mother heard him because she wrapped her arms around herself awkwardly.

'My life is doomed', Chandni thought and a fat lone tear fell from her eyes

She didn't want to get married and that too with Shashi who was like bad news to her. But she was helpless before her parents who were hell adamant on ruining her life.
