Chapter 5 Auction

Paul stood with his hand half in the air to knock on the door of Stella's apartment. Ather urges Paul to go in, he is tired of arguing with Ather about Stella.

The last two years he visited Omega Ayden to discuss the horses and to hear how the pups were doing, he couldn't wait to see Stella. He no longer has an excuse to see her every two weeks now and Ather came up with a brilliant idea so we can see her again.

He has been waiting for his true mate for years and according to Ather, Stella is his true mate, he must admit that he himself has a great attraction to her.

The problem is, he is Alpha, and his pack will not accept it if he takes a human as chosen mate, therefore Daphne will be perfect as Luna to take over from his mother. Ather also cannot accept that warrior Ivan is Stella's chosen mate. He is not looking for trouble with the Gray Claws, there has been peace between the two packs for eleven years now.

Ather growls again and Paul blocks him before he knocks on the door.

Stella opened the door and was visibly startled when she looked up into Paul's eyes.

Goddess she is beautiful. Can I please infect her? Ather just shouts yes.

He shoved his hands into his trouser pockets. The shock and fatigue on her face made Ather howl.

Hold her, comfort my mate! Ather screamed. Paul must forcefully push him back.

"Hello Stella, I'm glad you're home. I took a chance to come to Silver City to see you."

"Good evening, Alpha . . . uhm, feel free to come in."

"Thank you, Stella. And Stella . . . it's Paul."

He passes by her and makes sure he doesn't make contact with her. Half unsure, he stood in the middle of the small living room.

"I've been trying to get hold of you since yesterday, but no one could tell me where you moved to. Beta Vaughn helped me out in the end." That's only half the truth, he doesn't want to hurt her with the comments he got when he inquired about her.

Stella is devastated to see him; she didn't think she would ever see him again. Her heart beats faster and she feels out of breath.

"I hope you don't mind that I came here uninvited." Paul began to doubt whether Ather's idea was such a brilliant idea after all.

Stella shook her head.

Paul sat down on the couch and Stella looked around anxiously. There are still boxes on the other chairs. She feels bewildered. She doesn't want to sit next to him. She frowned slightly; what's wrong with me, Ivan and she broke off the engagement less than 48 hours ago and her crush suddenly reappeared for Paul. Did she have it wrong with the two?

She sat down next to Paul and put a pillow on her lap.

Tashia enters the room.

"Stella who was at the door . . . Oh my apologies Alpha." She immediately lowered her head and started walking backwards to leave them alone again.

"Mother Tashia." Paul stops her, it came out with an Alpha command, and he didn't mean it.

"Yes Alpha? What can I do for you?" Tashia shivered a little but realized he just wanted to stop her from leaving.

"No nothing Tashia, I just want to hear how you are doing? Are you coping without the pack bond?" He doesn't want her to lose control and become a rogue. Paul knows what she means to Stella.

"I can cope thanks Alpha. Can I bring Alpha and Miss Stella coffee?" She bowed her head again. He looked at her with a frown. She won't be able to control her wolf for long without a pack bond.

"That would be appreciated Tashia." Turning back to Stella on the couch, his arm brushed against hers.

He feels his body react and he can't help but feel how his body betrays him. Ather the traitor doesn't help much either.

Mate! Ather shouted.

Paul struggles to get himself under control while he is trying to block Ather. He just prays that Stella doesn't see his erection.

"You must have been at the auction?" Ask Stella to hide her discomfort. Paul's touch gave her an uncomfortable sensual feeling.

"Yes, I was, and I managed to at least buy Irish Wind back for you."

She looked at him with almost a shocked surprise.

"You bought Irish Wind back for me? But I can't accept that! I don't have money to pay you back either and I don't want to owe an Alpha money." She immediately regrets saying because she knows he's not like Alpha Duncan. The hurt on his face awakens a longing in her to put her hand on his cheek and to say that she didn't mean it.

"I didn't ask for the money, Stella. I know how much you loved the stallion, and I would like you to come and train him for me, please."

Tashia brings in the coffee and sees a tear on Stella's cheek. She clicked her tongue out of habit and softly left the room again.

"Thanks Alpha I'll think about it and let you know." She gets up to get her phone and she becomes aware of him following her with his eyes, it makes her feel uncomfortable in a sexual way.

Goddess she is so fragile and beautiful.

"Will you put your number on my phone and I'll let you know, just give me some time please."

"Do you know who bought the other belongings of my father?"

"Delta Marius bought the most." He suddenly stopped and frowned. "What's wrong Stella?" It felt like someone was ripping his heart out of his chest when he saw how pale she turned.

Stella feels like she's going to be sick. She heard Delta's laugh in her ears again.

"No nothing, nothing is wrong." She wrings her hands together so she could stop shaking.

She's lying to us, find out what's wrong! Ather shouted.

He wants to take her in his arms and force her to tell him.

"Stella, talk to me. What's wrong?"

Stella is silent for a long time, and she doesn't know if she should tell him.

She swallows hard and tells him what Delta Marius told her.

Paul gave a loud growl. I will kill him! Stella looked at him with wide eyes.

Tashia stormed into the room and saw the anger on Paul's face. She took Stella's hand and pulled her behind her so that she stood between Alpha Paul and Stella.

Paul looked at Tashia baring her canines. He gets up and walks out like a wounded animal. He slammed the door behind him.

Ather howls and it echoes the feeling that Paul feels inside him. How will he ever forget that fear on Stella's face.

We fucked up.
