Chapter 6 Good Liar

Maeve ordered, "Don't let him in. I don't want to see him!" She frowned, wondering why Dylan had the audacity to come looking for her. She had blacklisted him already. Shouldn't that hint him that she wanted nothing to do with him anymore?

"But he said that he won't leave until he sees you. How am I to convince him to leave?" Ivy uttered helplessly.

Maeve sighed. Although she didn't want to have anything to do with that scumbag, the last thing she wanted was for Dominic to meet Dylan here when he returned from work. She felt it necessary to see him briefly and send him away.

Outside the villa, a handsome man paced back and forth on the front porch.

He stopped and his face lit up as soon as he saw Maeve come out. He rushed to her and asked, "Maeve, are you being maltreated here?"

"Mr. Collins, please mind your words," Maeve said sternly while holding out her palm to his face. "Now that I am a married woman, you should address me properly as Mrs. Mason."

Dylan's face froze for a second. Then, he smiled awkwardly and said, "Maeve, what's wrong with you? Is this some kind of a joke? Or are you still mad at me for letting you marry Dominic? Actually..."

"A note of warning to you again!" Maeve interrupted Dylan, enunciating each word, "It's Mrs. Mason to you, not Maeve. We are not close, neither are we friends, so don't call me by my first name!"

Dylan was taken aback.

His face twisted as if he was looking at a stranger now. What the hell happened to her?

The Maeve he knew was so reluctant to part with him that she cried like a baby before she married Dominic. How come she changed overnight?

"Maeve..."

"Ivy, show our guest out!"

"Fine! Mrs. Mason, hold on!" Dylan gritted his teeth as if he had just been given a bitter pill to chew. "I have no idea what happened to you, but I just want you to know that I'll always love you. Come rain, come sunshine. You'll always be in my heart.

It's rather unfortunate that I'm not powerful enough to compete with Dominic now. But I swear that one day, I'll win you back. I pray that day comes very soon."

These words were so touching. If Maeve had heard these words before she got drowned in the sea, she would have been moved to tears.

But now, she was so disgusted that she gagged.

Dylan used to be her all in her past life. She made Dominic's life a living hell because of him. She even relished her wicked acts at a point.

She thought Dylan's love and promises were genuine. But they were nothing but lies!

Dylan wasn't with her out of love but because of how the Wright family could help his budding career. He was so ambitious that he didn't stop at only dating her. He pushed her to marry Dominic just so he could secure an endorsement deal as a brand ambassador for Luxora.

Luxora was a top luxury brand that was highly patronized by people from all around the world. So, being an ambassador of the brand was quite a big deal.

Dominic's company was saddled with the responsibility of selecting those who would bag the endorsement. It had been a while since Dylan had eyes on that position, so he came up with a grand plan. The first step was to get Maeve married to Dominic.

At the thought of the sweet words Dylan had used to brainwash her back then, Maeve felt like gagging again.

It was bad enough that he was a pretender. The worse thing he had done was cheating on her with Grace and then plotting to kill Dominic.

On a larger scale, she was the one who put Dominic in harm's way and led to his death.

All that was going to change now that she was reborn. She intended to make sure history didn't repeat itself.

"For your information, Mr. Collins. I'm very happy to be married to Dominic. If my past actions led you to think otherwise, then I apologize." Maeve words were so cold as if she was speaking to a stubborn stranger.

Ivy, who was standing beside her, had her mouth open wide. She had more reason to believe this wasn't the lady of the house she knew.

She was so sassy and cool now.

"What's wrong with you? Did Dominic put hands on you?" Dylan clenched his fists and said angrily, "That bastard dared to maltreat you? Fuck! I'll go beat the shit out of him right now!"
