Chapter 7 I Thought He Left

Looking at the tightly shut metal gate, Elizabeth Liang felt numb.

This house was left to her by her parents, but she has now become an unrelated outsider.

How could she have lost, over one night: her virginity, the caring people she always thought of as her family, her home, the company that her parents worked so hard to build, and her boyfriend whom she thought would be her last love...

And now, she only had a suitcase by her side.

See, they had already packed up everything that belonged to her.

She told them that she was going to take back the Liang Mansion and the Liang Company. But with what?

"Haha..." She couldn't help but laugh.

Looked at her now, shouldn't she worth laughing?

James Lu was waiting for the traffic light to turn green. He turned his head for a second and caught sight of something stuck between the gap in the passenger seat.

He took it out and saw that it was a library card from A University. It looks like she dropped it by accident when she was taking out money.

The name "Elizabeth Liang" was written in the name section.

Looking at the girl with a gentle and innocent smile on her face in the photo, James raised his eyebrows.

Should he return this library card?

Just thinking for two seconds, James indicates left and drove a u-turn.

James arrived before the Liang mansion gates and steadily parked his car, but he didn't even know why he came back just to return a library card.

Slightly irritated, he reached for a cigarette and was about to light it when he caught a glimpse of a figure squatting at the gates of the Liang mansion. He didn't really care, but then he suddenly realized that the person's clothes looked somewhat familiar. He looked up again.

It was really her!

He snapped the lighter shut, opened the door, and got out of the car, and headed straight toward the figure.

The closer he got to her, the more apparent it was that she seemed to be crying, with her whole body trembling.

Not until he approached her, did he realize she was laughing.

He frowned and glanced at the suitcase beside her. She...

"Miss Liang?"

Elizabeth, who was still laughing, paused and slowly raised her head. When she saw the person behind her, she was completely stunned.

Why was he here? Didn't he leave?

James looked at her small face looking up and couldn't help but frown. Her forehead was still bleeding, and her right cheek seemed to have been slapped. It was heavily swollen with a handprint on it.

"Are you alright?" He asked although it seemed obvious that she was not.

Elizabeth stood up and stared at him for a long time. Then she threw herself into his arms and hugged him tightly.

James didn't like having too much bodily contact with women he didn't know. He wanted to push her away, but the woman in his arms whispered softly-

"I'm sorry. I just can't find a shoulder to lean on."

It was a simple sentence, but it sent a heavy shock through James's heart.

How vulnerable and helpless would she be to say that to a stranger whom she was wary of?

He slowly put down his raised hand.

Just regard this as compensation for not accepting Cheque.

Elizabeth desperately needed someone's embrace. The moment James Lu asked her if she was alright, she no longer cared who he was. As long as he would let her lean on him, just for a little while, she could feel a little better. She could feel like she hasn't lost everything in an instant.

Leaning into his arms, she finally couldn't hold it in anymore and began crying loudly.

James was quite perplexed, but seeing her cry so miserably, he decided to just put up with it.

After a long while, James finally felt that the trembling had calmed down, so he raised his hand to push Elizabeth away.

But Elizabeth still pulled his clothes tightly and spoke in a nasal voice, "Just a little longer, please?"

James 's hand paused, but he still pulled her away. "The wound on your forehead needs to be treated. I'll take you to the hospital, okay?"
