Chapter 3 THE ATTACK 3.

Centuries ago, the Vampire coven led by Walter and Werewolf pack led by Falcon engaged in a war for survival and territory. This blood war went undocumented in history due to their hidden existence. The conflict persisted until Falcon's defeat, leading him to exile. The vampires claimed dominion over the land and thrived, eventually integrating themselves into human society.

"Boom!" Aaron yelled, startling Andrew.

"What now, Aaron?" their teacher asked.

"Apologies, Miss. Andrew always seems lost whenever you teach this topic," he said, causing the class to erupt in laughter.

"That's because he's actually listening and concentrating, unlike you," she scolded him, and he scoffed. "Oh."

"Maybe he's afraid a lycan might jump into our class!" a student joked, prompting more laughter.

"Hey! Nate's a vampire!" Aaron shouted, causing the room to burst into laughter, with some students even fleeing their seats as Nate approached, playfully baring his teeth.

"Class dismissed," the teacher announced, making her way to the exit.

"Wait, Miss Felicia, is it true that this city was once attacked by wolves?" asked a student.

"Wolves? I'd love to meet one," Aaron joked.

"That was a long time ago, and rest assured, it won't happen again. We have security measures in place to prevent any kind of animal attack. Class is over!" She declared, walking out.

Andrew closed his book, and as he did, Kaylee approached him.

"Hi," she said.

"Oh, Kaylee, hi," he greeted, picking up his bag.

"Don't listen to Aaron. He's a jerk," she reassured him.

Andrew laughed. "I agree."

"Do you mind walking with me? I could use some company," she asked.

"Sure," he replied.

The two of them walked down the road in silence before Kaylee broke it. "So, you'll be joining your father on the farm, right?" she inquired.

"Yeah, Bethany will be back from school by then," he answered.

"It's hard to believe that this city was once attacked by wolves, that they invaded and killed many people," she remarked.

"That was a long time ago," Andrew said.

"Yeah. Do you think it could happen again?" she asked.

"Well, I hope not," he replied, and she smiled.

"Let's forget about all this wolf stuff."

"I totally agree," he responded. Kaylee searched her bag and pulled out an invitation card.

"Oh, my parents are hosting a small get-together at our house tomorrow, and I'd like to invite you as my guest," she said.

"That's a wonderful offer. I won't miss it," he accepted.

"Alright, I'm leaving now," she said, walking away.

"Bye," Andrew bid her farewell, and she stopped. She walked back to him and kissed his cheek.

"Bye," she whispered, blushing.

"Kaylee isn't that pretty," Bethany argued as Andrew entered the house late for dinner.

"She's not ugly either," Andrew replied.

"Whatever, you're too good for her."

"I'm just a farmer's son, a farm boy. Kaylee's parents are rich. How good am I?" he wondered.

"Forget about her. What about Iris? She's hot," Bethany suggested.

"Bethany, stop," Andrew reprimanded.

James walked out carrying two plates of food. "Let me guess, Bethany is picking your next date," he remarked.

"Exactly," Andrew confirmed.

"But Dad, Kaylee isn't that great," Bethany protested.

"She's not bad either, and since your brother likes her, you should give her a chance," James reasoned.

"Not in this lifetime. Hey Dad, my teacher mentioned something about a man being attacked by animals," Bethany shared.

"Why would she say that?" James inquired, sitting down.

"Well, there have been reports of numerous deaths due to animal attacks," Bethany added.

"Animal attacks?" Andrew questioned.

"Yes," Bethany affirmed.

"Sometimes your teacher needs to keep quiet," James commented.

"Let's check the news," Bethany suggested, rushing to turn on the TV.

"Don't watch anything that'll give you sleepless nights. I won't let you stay in my room," Andrew advised.

"Whatever. Dad will let me," she grinned before turning on the TV.

"Breaking news: A man has been found dead on his farm. Nearby villagers claim to have heard his screams but were too afraid to come out. Based on the scratches on his face and body, it appears he was attacked by a wild animal. The incident occurred yesterday evening at around five in the..." James turned off the TV.

"That's scary," he commented.

"Yeah, a supposed animal attack," Bethany scoffed.

"Both of you shouldn't be watching this," James scolded. "Andrew, are you alright?" he asked, noticing his son's silence.

"Yeah, just a little scared," Andrew confessed.

"Scared?" Bethany teased. "You're a man, and you're...".

"Argh!" someone shouted from outside.

"Get down!" James whispered, and both Andrew and Bethany dropped to the floor.

"What's happening, Dad?" Bethany whispered, frightened.

"Stay down," he whispered back, slowly moving towards the window. As he looked outside, he saw sharp claws scratching against the glass.

"Dad!" Andrew shouted.

"Run!" James yelled, accidentally tripping over a table.

"Dad!" Bethany panicked.

"Move!" James urged sternly, running after them. They entered a room, and James shut the door behind them. "Under the bed, now!" he commanded, and both Andrew and Bethany crawled under the bed. James took a deep breath as he stared at the door, which remained unyielding.

Bethany's eyes followed his gaze, noticing his intentions. "Dad, don't go," she pleaded.

"Don't worry, I'll be okay. Stay here," he reassured her, smiling before he walked out of the room.

"Dad..." Bethany sniffled.

"Stay quiet, Bethany. Dad will be fine," Andrew comforted her.

Both stayed silently under the bed, the only sound being Bethany's weeping and sniffles. The noises from outside suddenly ceased. A loud scream reverberated through the house, prompting Bethany to crawl out from under the bed. "Bethany, wait!" Andrew shouted, grabbing her leg before she reached the door. "Dad... Dad... let go, Andrew!" she sobbed.

"Come back!" he yelled, desperately trying to pull her back. Suddenly, there was a forceful impact on their window. Both siblings turned their attention towards it.

"Andrew, the window!" Bethany stuttered. Andrew pulled Bethany's leg, pulling her back as the window shattered, with shards falling to the ground. Sharp claws landed on the floor, and Andrew clamped his hand over Bethany's mouth to prevent any noise. The creature prowled around the room, causing chaos wherever it went. Bethany tightly closed her eyes, tears streaming down her face. Suddenly, it halted, catching Andrew's attention. It began sniffing the air, gradually moving closer to their hiding spot. It stopped abruptly next to the bed and let out a howl. Andrew remained calm while Bethany covered her ears, her hands trembling. The creature raised its claws, ready to tear apart the bed, but a gust of cold air entered the room. Andrew turned towards the broken window, noticing someone entering and forcefully pinning the creature against the wall. His face brightened with surprise as he watched the mysterious woman handle the beast. He slowly released Bethany, who was reluctant to leave the bedside, and crawled out. With dark hair floating in the breeze and eyes as blue as the ocean, the lady turned to Andrew, wearing a stern expression. He felt grateful to see her clearly, admiring her exceptional beauty. She turned away from him, thrusting her fingers into the wolf's body, causing it to howl before she extracted its heart. She released the creature, watching it crumple lifelessly to the ground.

"Andrew!" Bethany called from under the bed, and he hurriedly turned to her as she slowly crawled out. When he looked back, however, the girl had vanished.
