Groaning, I pulled myself upright and carefully planted my feet into a pair of fur slippers at the foot of my bed. After several failed attempts to do some stretching exercises, I slowly made my way to the large kitchen. I could already feel the fatigue from staying out late last night taking its toll on my legs. Those darned heels. Yes, I was used to them by now. But it didn't change the fact that I absolutely abhorred them. But as I always like to tell myself; no pain, no gain.
Five minutes later, I was seated at my desk in the living room, a freshly brewed cup of coffee by my side, and my tired fingers typing away at the computer. I had a lot of projects to proofread and prepare and I was yet to go through half of them. Hopefully, I would get a headstart before the end of the day.
"Someone's up early."
I paused in my typing and looked up to see Jade; my roommate and a colleague of mine. She was also one of Madam Lucille's girls. I wouldn't call us best of friends, but since we were in the same line of work, we understood each other. No questions asked, no trouble anywhere. And she was organized and clean too so it was not a problem having her as a roommate.
I chuckled as I let my eyes dart over her disheveled brown hair and her makeup smeared face. "Yep, homework. What's your story? What time did you come in?"
Jade shakes her head in agony as she motions to my coffee cup which I hand her with no complaints. "Bad client?!" I yelled as I walked to the kitchen to make another cup. I finished making another cup quickly and returned to the living room, taking a seat on the large sofa instead.
Jade clicked her tongue, raising the cup to her lips as she took a sip. "No, not really. I got in around 4am. The moron kept me out so late, I was almost nodding off to sleep. Then he requested a blow job just before my time was up too. I obliged, of course. Made me some good money. But I'm tired as fuck. I think I'm gonna spend the day in my bed. You?"
As if she remembered something, her eyes suddenly lit up and she scooted closer to me. "I saw you leave with Cohen. He's the owner of those five-star hotels downtown, right?" When I nodded, a smirk pulled at the corner of her lips. "I'm sure he tipped great..." she trailed off, winking suggestively.
I shrugged. "He paid me in full if that's what you're asking."
"Oh, come on! I'm sure he offered to tip more."
I rolled my eyes at the memory of his persistent advances toward me the previous night. I knew he wanted to take me to bed. In fact, he had made it quite clear. But no amount of money would bend me to his will. I did my job and strictly what I was hired as; an escort. I had never had engaged in any sexual activities with any clients, and I planned to keep it that way.
Jade gave a dramatic gasp, staring at me as if I had grown a second head. "You said no?"
"Of course I did," I shrugged again. "He made it clear that he wanted sex."
Jade scoffed, shaking her head. "For the right price, I'd let the man fuck the shit out of me. That's where the real money is in this business, you know that already. I don't mind spreading my legs as long as they know what this pussy is worth," she winked at me.
I shook my head and finished the last of my coffee, placing the cup away from me on the floor. "You know how I am. I prefer my services to be strictly professional. You could use me as eye candy at an event, a pretend girlfriend, stuff like that. I get my money and we go our separate ways. I've never crossed the line of engaging in sex with any of the clients."
Jade stared at me in obvious shock. "Wow. I thought the other girls were just gossiping when they talked about this. You really don't budge do you?"
I laughed. "The only remotely sexual thing I've done was give a couple of lap dances to a few clients. And they paid good money for it. But apart from an occasional lap dance, nothing more." This was a rule that I strictly kept to. I signed to be an escort, not a call girl.
Jade had stood from the couch. Now she sat in a chair, holding a mirror in front of her as she carefully wiped last night's makeup off her face. As she tossed the first cotton ball, she turned around to face. "Damn, Jennifer, you're so uptight. I can't even count how many requests you've turned down. All these hotshot billionaires who keep asking to spend a night with you, they offer so much money. Hell, if you accept just one of them you'd probably be living in your own mansion right now."
I chuckled at her words. "Probably."
"You know I'm right. After all, what's the big deal? It's just sex. You should grab these opportunities now that you have them."
That was the exact opposite for me. It wasn't just sex for me. Sure, I would make triple what I was making right now if I gave in. But, that's just not me. "It just feels very wrong. I would be quite uncomfortable having sex with someone just for the sake of having sex. Someone I don't have any emotional connection with... I just couldn't."
I could tell that Jade thought differently, but she just shook her head as though she was giving up on trying to understand me, which made me burst into laughter. I picked up my phone and checked the time and I jumped from the sofa at the sight.
"Fuck! How has thirty minutes passed already!" I yelled, grabbing up our coffee cups and tossing it in the sink much to Jade's amusement.
"Oops," she laughed. "I guess I have a strong effect on people. So much that they even lose track of time."
I giggled, sparing a millisecond to thrust my middle finger at her before I rushed back to my room and jumped into the shower.
