Chapter 4 4- Saving Her

Her brother had been trying to hide the violence from her because it was literally making her sick. She hates confrontation and aggression. None of this did anything for her other than instill fear in her.

She wants to run away. But David dragged her across the parking lot. She tried to drive her heels deep into the ground. If she wasn't a coward, she'd be screaming for help, but what does that look like?

Screaming because her husband was going to take her away. Is he going to hit her? Hurt her?

Stan has said that she's fine going back to school and training but judging by David's reaction, that couldn't be further from the truth. He opened the car door and pushed her in.

She clutches her bag for comfort. David circled the car and walked over to the driver's side. She tried to open the door, but he must have turned the damn lock on because she couldn't get out.

But she doesn't show fear. Fear is for the weak, isn't it? Her heart was pounding and her throat was thick. She did not have her mobile phone and was unable to contact her brother for help. She can only rely on herself. Aiden will wake up soon, won't he?

"Did you kill him?" she asked.

David pulled the car out of the parking lot and they hit the road. He didn't answer, and Kezen hated it.

"What?"

He still didn't answer. "Damn it, Aiden means a lot to my brother. You better not kill him, or-"

"Or else what?" David asked, frowning.

"Otherwise my brother would think it was an insult to him. He will make you pay for sure."

David laughed. "Let me pay. What a fool that man is. Let you go to school."

"How dare you? Just because you don't want your women to be smart. My brother is the complete opposite. He thinks all women should be treated equally."

"I'm not against women getting an education and learning how to protect themselves!" he rants.

"Then why are you taking me? And please slow down. You're going to kill us." She was already buckled up, but now, with her bag between her legs, she clung to the door. "I can't. We're being followed."

Breathing heavily, Kezen looked around to see if anyone was following them. Just then, David changed lanes and she saw a black car do the same. David changed again, the same car did the same maneuver.

"Okay, okay, we're being followed. But why?"

"That car was parked there from the moment I got to the school. I thought it looked a bit suspicious, but it was there before I showed up, so I didn't think much of it. Knowing you were there, that's why that black car was there."

"They want me? Why?" She asked, starting to panic.

"Aren't you too stupid to realize you're a powerful and an important woman now? You're married to the brother of the Boss of Ramos blood and you're part of the notorious Stygian Beasts group and Stan Elthen Indelcio's sister. You have a target on your head, Kezen."

She didn't know. "I'm not that important."

"Don't be so stupid."

"My brother will do anything to save me, but to you, I'm nothing. I'm just a contract you can't live with." She was just stating a fact. David doesn't like her.

"Then you're dumber than I thought."

"I just-Stan said I was fine going to school."

"Maybe it was before you married me, but not anymore. It's not safe for you."

They came to a long stretch of road, and Kezen felt the hum of cars beneath his feet.

"Get down," David ordered.

She has nowhere to go. This is the most common sentence they have said in the few months of their marriage.

He turned the car and suddenly they were facing another car. At some point, David got himself a gun, which he pointed at the car. Kezen screamed when the bullet hit the car. David put his foot on the accelerator and the car creaked. She held on desperately, but the noise was so deafening that she felt like she was going to throw up. The car didn't turn. She just knew they were going to crash.

David didn't change direction. He didn't change direction, he was staring at the car in front of him, and she was full of panic. They were going to die, and if he killed the man in the front seat, they would be dead. She called his name, but David didn't listen to her. They are going to die

David stares at two people locked in chairs in the basement of a club in Stan. The police are upstairs, and David finds it funny that Stan is doing illegal business right under their noses, but he guesses it's the best way to find people who will do anything for money or pleasure. Stan's man hasn't shown up yet, but he has a hunch that when he does, things won't go well.

No doubt he had spoken to Aiden, and possibly to Kezen, who was upstairs in a private room.

David didn't like taking her to strip clubs. Too much sex. He didn't want to take her, but it didn't seem logical to take her home now or leave her anywhere else. She panicked, but to his surprise, she had protected the two currently sitting bleeding while he waited for his men to arrive.

Didn't scream at him, didn't pass out. Yes, she threw up, but she told him she didn't realize they were trying to save her life after she finished her lunch. She looked a little annoyed, but it was her suggestion to bring them here. Is this where she lost her virginity? David didn't believe she was a virgin at all. If she wasn't, why would she object to the test his brother demanded?

The basement door opens and Stan walks towards him with fists raised. David shakes him off, ready to face him.

"How dare you drag my sister out of the campus!" Stan yelled at David.

Aiden was right behind him, his eyes dark. David wondered if the guy had a good night's sleep, but he kept his thoughts to himself. Now is not the time to fight. "I did a good job and look what I got. These men are waiting for her

To take her."
