As they stood before the remnants of the Demonicat nest, a breathtaking sight unfolded before them. A large group of Demonicats, consisting of Demonicats, wand-wielding wizards, and ordinary Demonicats along with their captives, lay in front of Siegfrieds and Salveig. The scene left them astonished. Never had it crossed their minds that these Demonicats would choose to abandon their nest to avoid further persecution.
"I never imagined they were capable of thinking..." Siegfrieds murmured, his eyes filled with admiration.
"Yes... although foolish, they still possess the ability to think..." Salveig added, responding.
"It's truly remarkable..."
Without hesitation, they showcased their brilliance and launched a sudden attack on the Demonicat group, causing chaos among them. Salveig focused on freeing the captives, while Siegfrieds took on the task of diverting the Demonicats' attention.
Siegfrieds felt overwhelmed as he faced dozens of ordinary Demonicats, along with five formidable Demonicats. Not only that, but there were also Demonicat wizards, making the fight even more challenging.
"Dark Chamber!"
Using his illusion skills and enhancements, Siegfrieds created a sudden darkness around them. The Demonicats that were running towards Siegfrieds fell silent, their faces filled with confusion. Siegfrieds threw his daggers, hoping to eliminate some Demonicats and perhaps even kill a few Demonicat wizards.
Demonicat wizards were skilled in the manipulation of magic. They had the ability to use level one or two spells, with only a rare few capable of utilizing level three spells. Additionally, they could heal their allies and provide support with their magic. However, each Demonicat could only use one type of magic.
After a while, Salveig had successfully moved the prisoners away from the battle and immediately came to Siegfrieds's aid, who seemed to be in a difficult situation. With Salveig's help, they managed to kill more Demonicats before the effects of Siegfrieds's illusion skills wore off. Several ordinary Demonicats lay dead around them, leaving only two Demonicat wizards.
"You take care of those small Demonicats and help me face the Demonicats," Siegfrieds said, pointing to the five remaining Demonicats standing upright.
"You..."
"I'll divert the Demonicats' attention and give you the opportunity to kill those small Demonicats," Siegfrieds explained.
Without hesitation, both of them attacked their respective enemies according to their plan. Siegfrieds captivated the attention of the Demonicats, while Salveig dealt with the Demonicat wizards and ordinary Demonicats.
At that moment, the prisoners had been moved deep into the forest, and Salveig was armed with weapons and healing potions. Although the distance was quite far, Siegfrieds and Salveig could still hear and sense that the prisoners were in danger.
Siegfrieds felt a little too concerned about facing the attacks of these five Demonicats, but Salveig easily dispatched the existing Demonicats, despite occasional hindrances from enemy magic.
"If there were only two or three Demonicats, I could handle them well... but with five knights like this... just surviving would be an incredible achievement," Siegfrieds mumbled while fighting the Demonicats.
Salveig, realizing that Siegfrieds was starting to get overwhelmed, moved quickly to help kill the surrounding Demonicats. Yes, it was what he wanted, but due to the combination of the Demonicats' skills, Salveig also faced difficulties.
"Siegfrieds... switch!" Salveig shouted. "Of course..."
Both of them quickly turned to face different enemies. Siegfrieds fought against the Demonicats, while Salveig confronted the Demonicats. The change happened so rapidly that the Demonicats couldn't obstruct or respond in time. Siegfrieds easily killed the ordinary Demonicats with swift sword movements, while Salveig evaded the Demonicats' attacks.
Several minutes passed, and Siegfrieds had dispatched all the ordinary Demonicats and remaining Demonicat wizards. Some valuable items fell from the Demonicat wizards, but Siegfrieds didn't have time to collect them. He decided to recover himself and assist Salveig in battling the Demonicats. With Siegfrieds's presence, Salveig only needed to face three Demonicats, while Siegfrieds dealt with two Demonicats.
"It seems these Demonicats are starting to tire... we should be able to defeat them once they run out of energy," Salveig noted, realizing the situation.
"Heh, I'll confront them head-on... I want to see the extent of these Demonicats' strength," Siegfrieds said, eager to test his own abilities.
After a while, they successfully defeated all the Demonicats and rescued the victims. They gathered and divided the loot fairly among themselves.
"Help!"
Immediately after they finished distributing the items, they heard a voice calling for help. They swiftly approached the source of the sound, and a worried expression became evident on Salveig's face. Siegfrieds was initially puzzled by this expression but eventually understood after Salveig explained.
"What happened to the prisoners... are they alright?"
"The prisoners... are they there?"
"Perhaps... but it seems... especially because the voice came from the same place..."
They discovered a group of Demonicats surrounding the prisoners. Without hesitation, Siegfrieds and Salveig attacked the intruders and kept a distance between them and the captives. The battle was easily won since there were only a few Demonicats, mostly ordinary ones, accompanied by a single Demonicat, without any Demonicat wizards present.
After driving away the intruders, Siegfrieds and Salveig immediately checked the condition of the prisoners. An elderly person lay severely injured, with a Demonicat blade still lodged in their body.
"Kill... please, kill me..." the elderly person weakly pleaded.
"No, I won't let you die... I'll take you to the city and heal you," Salveig said, trying to lift them up.
Siegfrieds looked on with concern as Salveig struggled to lift the elderly person. His face was filled with anguish as he witnessed the severe wounds inflicted upon the person.
"Please... Don't bother with me. Let me go..." the elderly person weakly uttered.
Salveig stared at them with unwavering determination. "No, we will save you. You must hold on!"
With hearts full of determination, Salveig and Siegfrieds worked together to bring the elderly person out of danger. They shielded and tended to their wounds with the healing potions owned by Salveig. Despite the time-consuming process, they never gave up on rescuing them.
"Both of you are true heroes," the elderly person said with a faint smile.
"I can never express my gratitude enough."
Siegfrieds and Salveig nodded, deeply moved by the elderly person's words. They realized that their actions had made a real difference in someone else's life.
