With the conviction that the path with skulls was the true one, Siegfried cautiously approached that corridor. He knew well that goblins were foolish and forgetful creatures, hence the path with skulls made more sense.
But before proceeding further, Siegfried threw some stones into both corridors, observing the response that followed.
He realized that his throws didn't produce any sound when hitting the area surrounded by skulls. This further strengthened his belief that there were goblins guarding that area.
"Hehehe, I offer my true skills," Siegfried whispered, approaching the corridor with excitement.
Simultaneously, he threw a few stones he found to attract the attention of the goblins and make them approach. Continuing to explore the cave, Siegfried suddenly stumbled upon something that shook his heart.
A group of people were imprisoned inside, their hands and feet bound to the walls, and their mouths gagged. Some wounds were visible on their bodies, and others were imprisoned nearby.
Upon seeing Siegfried, they immediately panicked and pleaded for his help. Siegfried felt perplexed, but without hesitation, he quickly removed the gag from one person's mouth.
"Leave this place as soon as possible if you don't want to end up like us," one person exclaimed urgently, warning Siegfried.
In the midst of his bewildering predicament, Siegfried found himself engulfed in silence. Suddenly, a blade attempted to pierce his abdomen. Fortunately, he was wearing sturdy armor that could withstand such an attack.
He realized that a goblin had been attempting to stab him with a concealed knife. The goblin persistently tried to penetrate Siegfried's protective armor. Despite this, Siegfried only looked on with a seemingly indifferent expression, his face reflecting his confusion regarding the goblin's efforts.
Undeterred, the goblin continued thrusting the knife towards Siegfried, but the blade eventually snapped. Quickly, Siegfried swung his sword towards the goblin, swiftly taking its life, nearly severing its neck.
"This creature is so foolish... It knows well that the knife cannot penetrate this armor, yet it still tries to stab..." Siegfried murmured, filled with admiration for the goblin's perseverance. "And I'm certain that there's not just one goblin here."
Siegfried gazed towards the spot where the goblin had emerged and noticed several other goblins starting to appear as well. There were five additional goblins with knives in their hands. Siegfried cautiously advanced towards them, exerting pressure to make them retreat and keep their distance.
However, the pressure exerted by Siegfried was not strong enough to make the goblins flee. On the contrary, the goblins drew closer to Siegfried, launching a coordinated attack. Despite the narrow and dimly lit space, the goblins moved agilely. Yet, with Siegfried's sharp vision in the darkness and his swiftness, he easily evaded their attacks. He skillfully thrust his weapon into the goblins, halting or slowing their movements. Siegfried kicked them, sending them crashing into the cave wall.
"Hehe, weak creatures will always remain weak... and you won't be able to defeat the strong without proper strategy and support..." Siegfried said as he stepped closer to the goblins.
One by one, Siegfried claimed the lives of the goblins, swiftly severing their necks. These goblin victims could only stare with eyes full of admiration for Siegfried's actions. They witnessed clearly how effortlessly Siegfried dealt with the group of goblins, without encountering any significant difficulty. To them, Siegfried was like a shining hero. Siegfried collected the weapons of the goblins and stored them in his inventory. He didn't think too seriously about it at that moment, as his mind was focused solely on finding a way to earn money quickly. If only he knew that those armors would be useful now, he would have taken them and provided them as temporary clothing for the victims. Siegfried also instructed the girl to wear the available armor to protect themselves in case of sudden attacks.
Once everything was done, Siegfried promptly led them out of the cave. Their initial mission had become chaotic. Initially, they had only planned to hunt goblins, but now they had to rescue the victims and ensure their safety until they reached the nearest town.
Their journey proceeded relatively smoothly, with only a few ordinary goblins blocking their path, yet Siegfried easily dispatched them alone. As they were nearing the exit, a goblin appeared, startling them. It wasn't an ordinary goblin like the ones Siegfried had previously slain.
"Goblin knight, I didn't expect to encounter one so soon..." Siegfried murmured, a smile mixed with fear upon seeing the presence of the goblin. "But compared to meeting the Skull Knight and the issues with this game transfer, this feels ordinary..."
The goblin wore a Full Plate armor, equipped with a head protector and wielded a sword in its hand. Its body was larger than that of an ordinary goblin, almost one and a halftimes its size.
Siegfried swiftly threw several knives he had obtained from the previous goblins, causing the goblin knight to retreat from the cave entrance. Siegfried hurriedly rushed there and protected the doorway, giving the others a chance to escape. He noticed that the goblin knight was not alone; there were several ordinary goblins accompanying it, as well as a few captured wild animals.
"It seems that besides leveling up, I will also acquire food for these victims..." Siegfried mused, his enthusiasm burning to win the battle. "I will utilize all my strength to face this."
Siegfried retrieved his sword from his inventory and gripped a handful of daggers. Before the goblin could make a move, Siegfried threw the daggers, impaling most of the goblins present. He didn't stop there, Siegfried continued to throw more knives, causing all the goblins to be injured except for the goblin knight.
"Now, I only have to deal with this one goblin..."
Siegfried stared sharply at the goblin, filled with caution and vigilance. He realized that the level and power of this goblin were still beyond his own, which made him unable to act recklessly as before.
