Chapter 2 The Vanished Grin

One of the midwives had enough courage to leave the queen's chamber and go outside so that she can announce the news of the birth of the prince to the king and the palace members that were standing outside the chamber waiting for their newborn prince or princess.

The king was walking back and forth with the two royal escorts that accompany him everywhere inside and outside of the palace. They only stop chaperoning his highness when he goes to his royal chamber to sleep.

Even the prime minister was there with the king waiting for their prince as well as some guards and maids.

The midwife nervously glanced at all of them before she calmly bowed to his highness just to announce "It's a prince."

"Did you hear that, father? I have a son. Our kingdom can finally have a crown prince, now." The king Opeline Antias voiced to the grand king Brynlee Antias who nodded happily acknowledging his son's happiness.

Everyone's chests were swelling up in joy and pride. The king had happy tears stuck inside his eyes as well as most of the palace members that were present in the corridor next to the queen's chamber.

The grand king widely grinned looking at how delighted his son was before glancing at the rest of the midwives who came out of the queen's chamber and bowed to their majesties while standing right behind the first midwife who was brave enough to announce the news to the royals.

"Reward every midwife that was present in the queen's chamber with anything they desire." The generous grand king informed one of his ministers who nodded obediently and looked at the midwives who were more than happy with what the Grand king said, but the fact that the king and the grand king will go inside the queen's chamber and find out the prince's rank is scaring them to the core.

"Also, announce 3 days of holidays in the whole kingdom to celebrate the birth of my son and the crown prince of our kingdom." Uttered the king while he was fighting not to let his joyful tears roll down his cheeks.

The midwives started to peek at each other secretly as if they were trying to encourage one of them to open her mouth to tell the king and everyone present there about their prince's rank.

The ministers, the former king and the current king, the maids, and the guards were all elated about the news of their prince's birth and they were more than certain that their prince will be nothing but a strong alpha just like his father and grandfather which is why no one bothered to ask any of the midwives about his rank.

And that was the biggest reason why none of the midwives had enough intrepidity to open her mouth to break their delight since all of them know how disappointed and mad the kings and the rest of the palace members will be after hearing about their prince's rank.

Not only that but also, none of the people in the Vredrivia Kingdom will accept to be ruled by an omega which can lead them to turn against the royals refusing the new crown prince as a king in the future.

" Your highness,..." One of the midwives took a deep breath walking from behind the other midwives to the front as she bowed addressing the king who was still smiling happily about the prince's birth because of his joy he didn't give the midwife a chance to talk and instead he gestured her to go to the minister since he thought she will ask for what she desired as a reward and right after this he went inside the queen's chamber with the grand king and the former queen who came running in the corridors with her royal escorts.

The midwife looked at the others silently asking " What should we do now?" She was scared about what will happen after the king finds out just as much as the rest of the midwives but one of them decided to talk to end this nervous tension between them " It's not our problem. Our job here is to help the queen to give birth to the crown prince and we did it. However, it's not our fault that the prince turned out to be an omega. The moon Goddess chose this. Let's ask for our rewards before the kings get mad and we won't get anything. "

In the end, they were all persuaded by what she said and they decided to follow one of the ministers who were in charge of rewarding them.

" My prince Octavius." In the royal chamber, the queen was left alone with her newborn baby after all the midwives left and her highness still can not believe that she was holding her son after all these years of suffering.

Her majesty's soft hands were gently caressing the prince's tiny head and her eyes were not moving away from him.

The only thing that stopped her from watching her newborn sleeping soundly in her arms was the entry of the king and the grand king and queen.

Slowly the queen's grin dropped when she noticed them walking toward her with huge smiles on their faces as the king happily uttered " My queen, thank you for all this happiness. Everyone is delighted because of the prince's birth. May I hold him?"

The king sat next to her while extending his hands in the air waiting for the queen to give him the prince whom she was hiding in the blanket and in her arms.

The queen's heart began to race because of the fear that the royals and their people will reject her son when they get to know what rank he was, but she gave the baby to the king in the end since she can't hide the prince's rank from all of them forever which is why she decided to just face whatever their reactions will be.

The moment, the king held the prince in his arms, his grin started to vanish as well as the smile of the former king and queen who were sitting close to the king.
