Chapter 4 Prince Alexis Is The Chosen Suitor

The evening wasn't far spend and it was like a hot oven for me, even though I can hardly walk as I got up from my bed but I forced myself to the mirror to see how the day has treated me like. I see what I expected, my hair was very rough, the dress was totally messed up. I can't help but to smile to my reflection on the mirror, I haven't gone out of the room for ages now but I know that the day is gone.

The cold air coming from the window forced me to open it up for more of the air to come.

I open the windows putting the curtains at a side. I was very surprised to See Alexis walking with my brother Aragon at upper curtage of his chamber.

"Are they spending the night here?, no this can't happen." I run down the stairs calling Amaya. I couldn't find her but luckily enough I meet Adriana her fellow servant coming up with a jar full of red perfume.

"Adriana where is Amaya?"

"Your majesty Amaya went to the gold store to shop your you and this perfume is for you, Prince Alexis bought it for you".

"Adriana please take it back and inform Amaya to come to my room once she comes back"

"Yes your majesty but Prince Alexis wants to see you at the hanging garden close to the stream"

I looked at Adriana who looks so innocent and harmless as she stood with the jar of perfume on her head.

"Adriana I have heard you and for the perfume, keep it for yourself okay"

"But your majesty.......

"Adriana just go okay and don't forget to call Amaya for me once she comes back".

I was so restless and angry seeing Alexis sitting very close to me at the garden, I never wanted to hear whatever he have to say but I can't just let him understand that because that could throw him off his feet.

Since I have agreed to come and spend time with him here, I have to play the game well with him.

The garden was very calm and serene, I was expecting Alexis voice to make the place lively but I do see that he is the type that doesn't talk a lot unlike Arnold. His presence was a very big problem to me now that he can't even talk, all he does was to smile anytime he looks at me.

I know that he has much to say to me but he don't know how to start the conversation. He stands from the seat, going round with his hands at his back. I felt the pressure on him as he comes closer to me.

"Alexis, how is everyone doing at home?" I feel the expression brighten up his little oval face as he rushes the question.

"Everyone is very fine" He wanted to say more but his voice breaks down. He stammered, I felt very sorry for him. Maybe he is my type that does not get the opportunity to walk around.

"Alexis it's okay, don't force yourself to say something" he felt very ashamed of himself. He sits with displeasure, His breathe became silent immediately I held his hand. He looked at me and I smiled at him.

"Alena, I'm so sorry about my behavior, it's just that I have something troubling me" His body becomes very tensed and hot, I dropped his hands on my laps. He trys to smile but could not.

"What is the problem?" He stands up again avoiding my eyes.

"it is something personal, something that I'm always afraid to talk about"

"Was it so bad that you can't tell me about it?"

"not that I can't tell you about it but it's just frustrating and bad to another ear".

This made me feel very bad about Alexis and myself. We can't take each other as people that could end up as couples latter on.

At this little stage, he feels like what ever that he has troubling him could not be safe with me.

I adjust my closeness with him. He stares at me with a fake smile on his face.

"Alena, what do you think about me been your husband in the future?" I was never expecting this from him. I stands up looking very annoyed at him.

"Alexis, do you think we can be couple?" He narrowed his eyes. He tried to hold my hands but I made an awkward gesture towards him. He puts his hands down.

"Alena, we can be of course, a happy one"

"Alexis, please you need to think about this"

"There's nothing to think about Alena, our tradition holds it and our parents have given their consent about".

I became very angry and frustrated. It was like a hot lava was released into my body. I pushed Alexis away from me, I danced angrily towards the open door but Alexis draws me back "What's the problem?"

His hands were very hot on my skin, I shoved his hands off my bare shoulders.

"can you listen to yourself Alexis, the tradition holds it and our parents have given their consent. Do you care to know my own consent?'

"Alena came down, it haven't gotten to this. A beautiful princess like you needed a wealthy handsome and caring person like me. Your consent matters most but not when you're going the right way"

I become very furious with Alexis. His words were just like a rotten antelope before me. I can imagine cutting his throat off with each moment he says a word.

I left him at the garden then went to the main castle. Everyone can tell that I'm very angry because of of the way I walked pass them hitting things out of the way.

My mother called me several times but I was so angry that I didn't look back. I climbed up, I heard the sound of someone running after me. I looked back, it was Amaya, she was very fast trying to catch up. I opened my door and slammed it close and bolted it then to my bed as I cry to myself.

I heard a knock from the door, the knock has been coming since I came. I stayed calm for sometimes waiting to know if the knock could stop but it keeps coming.

"Who is there?"

"My princess it's me Amaya"

"Amaya please go I want to be left alone"

"Please open the door for me my princess, we need to talk"

"Amaya I'm not ready to talk now just go and have some fun"

"No my princess I can't be having fun when you're inside here alone. Please open the door"

I never know what happened but all I could remember was that all that happened was just a dream.

A nightmare, it was like a real life event. I hurried up from my bed, rushed the door dragging it soo hard to open it. I saw Amaya sleeping at the side of my door.

I was very angry at myself, She might have slept here throughout the night after I refused to open the door for her. She looks very innocent and beautiful as she sleeps peacefully at the floor.

She jumped up from the floor immediately I tapped her at the shoulder "good morning my princess, hope you slept well?"

She still feel very dizzy because it's still early. "why do you sleep here, don't you have a place to sleep again?"

"My princess I waited for you to open your door for me to know why you were very upset yesterday evening but you didn't, I slept off unknowingly"

"it's okay. I'm very sorry for that but don't do this again, get yourself dressed up, we will be going to somewhere this morning"

She looked very confused. I pushed her to my room to help me get dressed up.

We walked down the stairs with the guards and the castle workers all busy with works. Adriana called me pointing at the Queen's chamber. "Adriana tell the queen that I and Amaya are going to the jewelry store to get something" .

We moved to the last floor, passing through the main hall. I got very angry immediately I saw Alexis. He called me but I pretends like I heard nothing.

Amaya got a bit nervous of what I'm up that is making me to avoid everyone. "what are you up to my princess, where are we going to?"

"Amaya just keep calm and follow up, we will get there very soon". She nooded in fear as we go through the veil that separates our world from the humans.
