Dan chuckled, a mischievous glint in his eyes. "I hate the thought of going back home and dealing with my nagging sister, Eve."
Trisha laughed and covered her mouth, barely able to contain herself. "You mean Eve? She looks okay to me."
Dan shook his head, feigning exasperation. "You know her, so why deny it? Emily, Eve has become even more troublesome and disturbing." We couldn't help but laugh along with him, enjoying the camaraderie.
"Fine, you both won't stop laughing at me," Dan pouted, playfully sulking. "Are you using the staff bus?" he asked, turning his attention to me.
I pursed my lips, feeling a sense of surprise. "You're surprised, right?" Dan teased, knowing full well that I usually relied on the staff bus for my commute.
"Of course I am," I chuckled, shaking my head in amusement. "I, too, discovered that Logan isn't as bad as people say."
Trisha chimed in, nodding in agreement. "That's nice. Anyways, I won't be taking the staff bus either. I came with my car," I mentioned casually, shrugging my shoulders.
Trisha nodded in understanding. "Okay, cool. We can still walk out of the company together, right?" she suggested, seeking confirmation from both Dan and me.
Dan and I exchanged nods, confirming our agreement. "Sure," we replied in unison.
With our plans set, the three of us made our way out of the office, chatting and laughing as we headed toward the company's exit.
Logan's POV
I exited my office, accompanied by Leo walking by my side. As we stepped out, I happened to notice Emily and her colleagues, engaged in lighthearted laughter as they made their way toward the company's exit.
Ah, Emily...
A mischievous idea sparked in my mind, prompting me to call out to her. "Emily Collins!" I called, adding a playful note to my voice. Leo nudged my arm, clearly curious about my intentions, but I ignored him.
Emily froze in her steps, gradually turning around to face me. Her eyes widened, and she nervously bit her lower lip, perhaps mumbling words to herself incoherently.
"M-Mr. Logan?" she stammered, attempting to fake a smile, but her uncertainty peeked through.
"Mr. Logan!" Dan called out, addressing me with respect.
"Mr. Logan!" Tr isha greeted, bowing slightly as she saw me. I returned a polite smile to both of them, but my attention remained focused on Emily.
"I need a word with you, Emily," I stated firmly, dismissing Dan and Trisha with a wave of my hand. They obediently nodded and bid Emily goodnight before departing.
Once they were out of earshot, Emily approached me cautiously, her gaze filled with a mix of curiosity and apprehension. "Sir?" she questioned, awaiting further instruction.
"Why were you leaving without informing me? Do you think your workday is over just like that?" I inquired, raising an eyebrow, while Leo watched the exchange, still trying to fathom my motive.
Uhm, what does he mean?
"It's something personal," I responded cryptically, deliberately cutting off Leo's attempt to understand. Emily narrowed her eyes at me, sensing an underlying message, but I moved on swiftly.
"Must I remind you to attend to my needs? Do I have to explicitly instruct you to take my suitcase?" I interrogated with a quiet firmness.
"Oh, sorry, boss," Emily apologized, masking her true emotions with a feigned laugh as she scurried to take the suitcase from my grasp.
"Is she your assistant?" Leo finally interjected, unable to contain his curiosity any longer.
"I thought you said you didn't need one, Logan," he added, clearly puzzled by the situation.
"Leave it at that, Leo," I replied with a hint of mystery. Knowing Emily was listening, I instructed her, "Bring this suitcase to the car."
Without further hesitation, we made our way to the car park. I slid into the driver's seat of my car, Leo taking the passenger seat beside me. As Emily handed me the suitcase, she began to utter the customary farewell.
"Here you go, sir. Have a good-" she started but trailed off as I interrupted her.
"I will, for sure. No need for unnecessary pleasantries," I cut her off, a touch of authority in my voice.
"Very well," Emily responded, concealing any annoyance as she forced a smile and turned to leave, showing the utmost obedience.
Emily's POV
I turned to leave without waiting for him to tell me to do so.
As I started walking away, I felt a firm grip on my arm, pulling me back towards the car. My heart raced, uncertainty filling my mind as I turned to face Logan. His expression, though unreadable, sent a shiver down my spine.
"Where do you think you're going, Emily?" he asked, his voice low and commanding. I swallowed nervously, trying to find my voice.
"I-I thought... I thought I was done for the day, sir," I stammered, unable to meet his intense gaze.
He leaned in closer, his breath brushing against my ear. "You seem to forget your place, Emily," he whispered, sending a chill through my body. "You are not free to leave until I say so."
A mixture of fear and defiance surged within me. I didn't understand why he felt the need to exert control over me, but I refused to let him see my vulnerability.
"Forgive me, Mr. Logan," I replied, my voice steady despite the fluttering of my heart. "I didn't mean to disrespect you."
His grip on my arm tightened, his eyes searching mine, as if trying to unravel the thoughts lingering beneath the surface. "Remember, Emily, I am always watching, and I expect nothing less than absolute obedience from you."
I nodded, the weight of his words sinking in. I needed to tread carefully, to navigate this delicate dance of power with precision. It was a game I didn't fully understand, but one I had to play to protect myself and those I cared about.
As Logan released his grip on my arm, I took a step back, giving him the space he desired. He took a deep breath, composed himself, and gestured towards the car.
"Now, get in. We have things to discuss," he said, his voice regaining a hint of the calm authority I had become accustomed to.
I hesitated for a moment, my mind racing with conflicting emotions. But I knew that resisting further would only bring more trouble. With a silent nod, I walked to the passenger side of the car and slipped inside. Logan followed suit, and soon the engine roared to life, engulfing us in a cocoon of tension.
The drive was filled with an uneasy silence, the weight of unspoken words hanging heavy between us. I glanced out of the window, watching as the city lights blurred together, lost in my thoughts.
I would be going to his house on my first day, not too bad right?
When we arrived at his place, Logan parked the car and turned off the engine. As we stepped out, the air felt charged with anticipation. I braced myself for whatever awaited me within those walls, knowing that this encounter would shape the course of my future.
"Let's go inside," Logan said, leading the way with a practiced confidence.
"I thought it was supposed to be my place Logan." Leo said
"Boss, you made me leave my car at the company.... I do not know if I can find my way back home." I said
"No, it's fine... I will take you home." Leo said and I smiled.
"Thank you."
"Ugh, whatever" Logan rolled his eyes.
I followed him into a lavish foyer, adorned with elegant artwork and opulent furniture. The grandeur of his residence mirrored the complexity of the man himself. It was a stark contrast to the simplicity of my own life, and I couldn't help but feel a sense of unease.
As we settled in the expansive living room, Logan poured us each a glass of red wine, his movements fluid yet deliberate.
"Take a seat, Emily," he instructed, gesturing towards a plush armchair. I complied, feeling a mix of anticipation and trepidation.
We sat in silence for a moment, the only sound being the soft clinking of our glasses as we took occasional sips. I studied Logan, trying to decipher the enigma before me. His deep gaze seemed impenetrable, hiding countless secrets beneath the surface.
Finally, breaking the silence, Logan spoke, his voice laced with a curious mix of intensity and vulnerability.
"I need you to go through some files for me." He said and my jaw dropped
"Sorry?"
"This late hour?" I added and he glared at me.
OH SHIT!!!!!!
