Logan stared at me blankly before he shrugged, "Do you think I care?" he replied
"What? Since when don't you black coffee? Sir I would have to run down the elevator and back to the cafeteria to get you what you want, why don't you just take this?" I sighed heavily.
"Looks like someone really got the guts!" he growled and I flinched back immediately.
"You do not tell me what to eat okay? I choose what I want so now get out of my office and bring me what I asked for!!"
I stood inside Logan's office, silently seething as I muttered words of frustration under my breath. It seems like every time I try to take a break, he would find some way to disturb me.
What type of guy is this for goodness sake?!
The chef I met in the cafeteria told me Logan loves his black coffee, and normally I wouldn't mind going out of my way to grab it for him. But instead of him to just accept his coffee and quit his childish act, he seems determined to punish me for this morning incident and that is a stupid reason. Sending me to get his coffee with creamer and sugar was just another way for him to assert his control.
Right now, I wish I was the superior so I could just hit him from behind, bite him and scream into his ears!
Taking a deep breath to regain my composure, I faked a side smile as I glared at Logan. He was sitting at his desk, engrossed in his work, completely oblivious to the dampened mood he had brought upon me.
"Mr. Logan," I said, my voice dripping with forced pleasantness. "I'm heading to the company cafeteria now. Would you like me to grab you some other thing?"
He barely glanced up, his focus still fixated on the papers in front of him. "No, just coffee. Cream and sugar," he replied dismissively.
Suppressing the urge to roll my eyes, I turned on my heel and left his office.
As soon as I stepped out, I began to mutter words to myself, "Where did this guy come from?"
"Where did he fall from?"
"Jayden would laugh at me after telling him all these, like for goodness sake this is just my first day!!!" I added.
As I walked towards the cafeteria, my steps were heavy with frustration. Why did he have to make everything so difficult? The simple act of getting his coffee had become an act of submission, another reminder of his power over me.
Entering the bright and bustling cafeteria, I sighted Dan eating all alone by himself. I am really hungry and instead of Logan to leave me to eat, here am I running errands.
No, I would have seen it as a normal thing since he is my boss but I know e is giving me this as a punishment!
I joined the line of employees waiting to get their afternoon pick-me-up. I couldn't help but notice how different the atmosphere was here. People chatted and laughed, enjoying a well-deserved break from their work. It was a stark contrast to the tense and oppressive ambiance of Logan's office.
Finally reaching the front of the line, I requested a cup of coffee with creamer and sugar. The employee behind the counter smiled sympathetically; clearly familiar with the game I was reluctantly playing.
"Why would you want coffee as lunch?" she scoffed.
I looked down at my hand and faked a smile, "Why would you also want the chips in your hands as lunch?" I scoffed before walking away.
"What the!" I heard her say behind me but I ignored.
Returning to Logan's office with the cup in hand, I knocked softly on the door before entering. He looked up, slightly surprised, as if he hadn't expected me to come back so quickly.
Placing the cup of coffee on his desk, I offered a strained smile. "Here's your coffee, just as you requested."
Logan glanced at the cup, nodding in acknowledgement but saying nothing. I could tell he was aware of the tension between us, but he seemed content to let it simmer. As I turned to leave, I couldn't help but feel a sense of defeat. How had I allowed myself to become trapped in this toxic dynamic?
Taking a deep breath, I reminded myself that I wouldn't be stuck here forever. One day, I would find a way to free myself from Logan's control. Until then, I would grit my teeth, fetch his coffee, run his errands and try to find solace in the moments of respite I could steal for myself.
I rolled my eyes as I walked far from his office and made my way down to the cafeteria. How many times have I walked up and down to the cafeteria because of Logan!?
I found myself in the waiting line, just an employee ahead of me.
It was my turn to get a meal, "Pasta please with anything." I said with a heavy sigh.
In less than 5 minutes, my food was delivered to me in a tray, a bottle of soft drink next to it, a cup of salad, pasta sauce and a lap of chicken.
"Oh, wow thanks." I smiled
"Enjoy your meal ma'am." The lady smiled at me and I left to join Dan at his table.
"Oh, are you finally here?" He asked and I shook my head negatively at his question.
"I am about to come, chicken." I said and we both laughed.
"So where did you go?" he asked after taking a bite of his steak.
"Uhm, I went to get something. Let's not talk about it but talk about you instead. How have you been?" I smiled and he shrugged
"Well, well at least. I am really happy to see you work here just when I thought I won't get in touch with you again." He smiled
"Yeah me too."
"I will say fate has something for us." Dan said and I burst out into laughter
"Are you okay? That's really funny!" I laughed as I opened my bottle of drink and gulped it down my throat.
Logan's POV
I stared at the cup of coffee on the table and hissed, "I really don't like my coffee this way but how did she know?" I asked myself as I stood up from my seat to stand before my table.
I squint my eyes at the cup then sighed.
I should just take this right?
While thinking if I should, I got a phone call.
"And who is that???" I yelled before taking out my phone to see the caller was my dad.
"What now?" I scoffed before I reluctantly answered the call.
"If I do not call you, you wouldn't right? What sort of human being are you???" he yelled and immediately, I ended the call not ready for his rants.
Someone that was never a father to me is suddenly trying to be one!!
I glared at the coffee once more before taking it into my hand, "I should just take this right?" I asked myself then took a sip of it into my mouth.
"Hmmmm, not even bad."
