Chapter 4 4

And it didn't help, I sat down on the bed, because my feet were swollen after the long trip, eleven hours sitting between the bathroom and the seat on the plane. It was dawn and I was hungry, feeling cold and my feet were swelling up more and more, I needed a shower, I needed to eat and especially to rest

There, minutes, hours and days passed. I was already feeling bad from the heat, hunger, thirst, I must have been there for a couple of days and I couldn't take it anymore, I tirelessly looked for some tool that I could open the overhead door in the attic, however, it was too high and I did not reach; I threw the designer key that I found on the floor through the overhead door, but due to the force I had done, I started to feel contractions

Luísa - No daughter, please no! It's not time for you to come into the world - I begged holding my belly - Blanca!

I screamed tirelessly and it was as if there was no one in that house, what Alessandro did was deliberate! From so much screaming, I heard someone who heard my lament

- ¿Hay alguien ahí? (Is anyone there?)

Luisa - Damn! I don't know how to speak their language, capable of dying here like a grinning gecko - I thought aloud

- I can speak Portuguese, what's going on?

Luísa - I'm going into labor, it's not time for my daughter to be born, but she wants to - I cried feeling another contraction - Please help me!

- Stay calm! I'm a doctor and I'm calling an ambulance so you can have your daughter in peace, are you alone in the room?

Luísa - No, actually, this is a basement, my husband locked me in here saying there was a hurricane and I would be more protected here

- I'll try to call to see if there's anyone at home, if not, I'll break down the door and go in

Luísa - No, don't leave me here! Please - I needed to feel that there was someone there with me, I didn't want to die and especially lose my daughter

- Stay calm! The initial stages of contractions usually occur at intervals of fifteen to twenty minutes and last between thirty and forty-five seconds.

Luísa - I'm a doctor too, I'm calm - I took a deep breath - Just get me out of here, please!

I heard the guy call someone, maybe he was calling an ambulance... The contractions were increasing, it had been 12 minutes and that was a sign that I was far from the birth of my daughter, however, the pain only increased

- Hello, I already called the ambulance! I tried to open the door, but it's impossible... I also called the carpenter so we could get you out of there, don't get nervous, I'm here and I'll be there until the end

I don't know why, but I felt safe with that stranger, even if he was on the other side of the window. The ambulance took a lifetime to arrive, however, it arrived faster than the carpenter to open the door and the contractions came stronger and stronger.

Luísa – Oh my good! - I lost consciousness and I don't remember anything else

I received a call from a friend from college, his father had undergone neurological surgery, however, he wanted my opinion, as the father had woken up with no memory. I left Ana Heloísa with Anaíra, because if I left it with my mother she would find out that, in fact, I accepted more than in a hurry to get out of this meeting about who will take the presidency of the hospital

Arriving at Mexico City International Airport, I asked for an Uber to be able to leave my things at a hotel closer to the hospital where Sebastian was, after leaving everything organized I rented a car going to the hospital. When I got halfway there I heard my cell phone ringing, I just looked down at the cell phone and I could see that it was my father, so I just ignored it

I was going to put some music on until I got to the hospital when I heard someone calling for help, here in Mexico the streets are very narrow and I could be crazy, so it was the voice of someone asking for help. I stopped the car by lowering the window to see where the distress call was coming from and I noticed it was in the house ahead.

Christopher- Is there someone there? (Is anyone there?)

- Damn it! I don't know how to speak their language, capable of dying here like a grinning gecko – I found the way she expressed herself funny

Christopher - I can speak Portuguese, what's going on?

She told me she was pregnant, I thought it was very strange for a pregnant woman to be there in a room almost underground, because as she said she was already feeling contractions, she shouldn't be going down stairs

Christopher - Rest assured! I'm a doctor and I'm calling an ambulance so you can have your daughter in peace, are you alone in the room?

– No, actually, this is a basement, my husband trapped me here saying there was a hurricane and I would be more protected here

The most lame excuse a guy could come up with, what do you mean he was having a hurricane and left his wife alone in an attic? Bastard! I called the ambulance and tried at all costs to open the door with something iron I found in the trunk, I tried the windows, but the husband really wanted to leave it locked and isolated from the world, why I didn't know. The girl stopped moaning in pain and I was astonished, because if she was having contractions, it would be the pain to squeeze a little more

Christopher – Is everything okay? – She didn't answer, exasperating me.

I decided to use all my strength and managed to break in the window, and the ambulance arrived to take the pregnant girl out of the house and I was immediately shocked, she was fainted, but I could clearly see that it was the same girl who had helped me a few days ago in front of school of Ana Heloísa. I got even more worried when I noticed blood on her legs, it wasn't normal here and it was a sign that the fetus was in pain, but I tried to stay calm

Christopher – You? - I smoothed her head

I remembered days ago, when she came to help me and her authoritative husband demanded that she not help, otherwise he would leave. Could it be that this scoundrel kept his word and abandoned her pregnant? Even because it wasn't earthquake season that month

- Are you going with her?

Christopher – No, I'll see if you have the child's clothes, documents... I'll follow the ambulance

I went in searching everything, however, there was nothing of baby clothes, I found only a bag which had a wallet and a cell phone. I took everything and went to the car following the ambulance.

Arriving at the hospital, the doctors said that she would undergo an emergency cesarean, so I took the opportunity to pull the last numbers dialed on the cell phone found and there was only one: Sister. I called until it went to voicemail, I went to the phone book and I had very few contacts, just my sister and a Blanca (mother) and who better than her mother to come

It didn't even take half an hour and she was already at the hospital, she looked at me as if she was seeing a ghost and then tried to make me leave. I couldn't leave without knowing if she was okay, when she was admitted, she was unconscious and pale, she had bled and I felt responsible for her even though her mother had arrived at the scene.
