Chapter 5 Five

Chloe

I am finally free. I didn't want to see that man's face ever again. I promised not to show up in front of him and ruined my day in the process. He is not someone I can deal with, since I hate him so much. I will never, ever forgive him. The countryside was far from the city. I'd rather leave here in peace than on the busy roads of the capital with a great possibility of bumping into Ethan Wilson. I never want that to happen.

Grandma died after the night that Ethan forced himself on me. I was feeling devastated and broken about what had happened while I mourned the passing of the only person I cared about and loved. My lower body was aching and so was my shoulder that he bit, but I had to take care of her remains. I did it in one day and decided to move on and plan on how to get away from my devil husband.

Etheria, of all people, helped me. It appeared that she wasn't blind and deaf about everything that was happening in the mansion. She loved her son but she didn't like what he did to me. I accepted her help and, because I wanted to be free from the devil, I told her that I wanted to file for divorce. She agreed and helped me settle everything in a day. I guess you really can do everything when you have money.

I left the mansion but I never told anyone about where I would go. I didn't want them to lie to me, especially Cristy. I knew that Ethan would ask her first if ever he would look for me, which I hoped not. My first two days away from the mansion were overwhelming. I brought my grandma's urn with me, so I feel like she's still with me. Until that weekend, I don't feel like something bad is going to happen.

The last few days of being free for almost two weeks were full of life for me and I hope that it will continue forever. I miss Grandma, but being alone and at peace made me think about everything that happened in my life since last year. Ethan should have filed for divorce, right? I am going to be free from him and he will have no problem with the processing since I signed everything I need to sign and leave a consent to let him handle everything on my behalf.

"Chloe, you're here," Simon said. He knew where to find me because I had always stayed here on the cliff ever since I arrived. I like it here; fresh air and quiet. I could only hear the sound of birds and different insects. This is the best place when someone wants to find solace.

"Hey," I said.

"Ces has been looking for you." Simon is my friend from high school and Ces is his wife. I met him accidentally on my way here, but since I didn't have any place to stay, he asked me to come with him and here I am.

"She will only ask me to teach her how to cook," I replied, laughing. I thank Cristy for teaching me and I am grateful for her because I found a new skill and passion.

"You know her already?"

"She asked me all the time, how could I not know?"

"I didn't know that you would be able to learn how to cook. As far as I can remember, you must always eat."

"I didn't know that either until last year. Someone taught me and I enjoyed it." I explained and got up from my seat and started to walk back to their house. Ces is very impatient and she would be very annoying if I kept her waiting. She wouldn't stop nagging and would never stop complaining.

Everything seemed fine after our cooking lesson. She too learned fast and she wanted both of us to attend a cooking school. I like the idea, and I even started to think about what we're going to do after. She wanted us to put up a restaurant and I think it's a good idea, but I don't have money for that.

"Sweetheart, I am going to the grocery. Do you want me to buy something for the menu you and Chloe were trying to make?" Simon asked.

"How about you buy us beef? I think I want to try the roast beef that she cooked on her first day here." Ces replied. I smiled because that was also the same menu that Cristy was very excited about teaching me.

"OK, anything else?" he asked.

"Nothing, take care," she replied, and Simon went out.

"Oops, the soy sauce. I don't think it was enough." I said and ran after him. He was already outside the gate when I caught up and told him what I wanted to add. I learned how to make macaroons, so I am going to teach Ces that too and I will be needing ingredients for that. He nodded and saved everything on his phone and was about to leave when a man stopped before us.

He was huge and I didn't know him. I looked at Simon, thinking it was him that the man was after. "Is there a problem, Sir?" my friend asked, and I realized that he didn't know him. My eyes averted towards the man and found him looking at me, smiling. But I felt uncomfortable because of that.

"Chloe," the man said. Who is he and what does he want from me? How did he even know me?

"I'm sorry, do I know you?"

"No, but I'm sure you know my friend," he replied and pointed at a car not too far from us. The backseat door opened and out came the last person I would want to see in this lifetime. He walked closer and I didn't know what I would do. Should I run? Then I looked at Simon and found him being held by the huge man.

"What are you doing here?" I asked, trying to hold my anger. I didn't want to act hasty since Simon was being constricted by that man.

"I'm getting you back."

"What?" I exclaimed. What was wrong with him? I had already set him free and even left everything he would need in the process. "What makes you think that I am going to come with you?" I asked,

"Now, don't be so hasty," he said, and touched me on my face, but I avoided him. How dare he! "You can't do anything but come with me. You don't want this man to get hurt, right?" he asked. He was calm but I'm sure that he will surely do as he said. I got scared even though the huge man had not done anything to Simon yet.

"Don't hurt him!" I hissed.

"If you didn't want to come to him, it's fine," Simon said, but the man gave him a heavy blow.

"Simon!" I screamed, but the man was about to give him another, but I stopped him by covering my friend with myself.

"That will be futile," Ethan said,

"I already gave you your freedom, what more do you want?" I asked angrily. I am not going to hold back anymore. I am going to tell him what I wanted to tell him.

"You are not the one who will decide for both of us. I am. If I still want to use you, I will still use you. If I get tired of you, I'll divorce you. That is if I ever get tired," he answered, smirking.

"Asshole!" I shouted.

"Say whatever you want to say, the outcome will be either you will come to me with him capable of standing on both his feet or you will come to me with him six feet under the very soil that you were standing in."

"I hate you! I really hate YOU!!"

"Chloe, Sweetheart, what's going on?" said Ces, and mine and Simon's eyes widened.

"Look at that, another form of entertainment," the huge man said with an evil smile on his face.

"Don't you dare," I snarled at the man? I looked at Ethan who was still looking at me, "Make sure nothing happens to them." I said and started walking my way to the car where he came from. After I got in, I saw my evil husband talking to Simon. I just hope that he won't do anything to my friends.

He got in and we left. We are in the countryside and far from the city, so I was not surprised when we stopped at a clearing kind of a vacant lot and found a helicopter. He didn't talk and I would never initiate a conversation with him either.
