Chapter 8 Red Stain

"What's your plans for today, Bengut?" That was Zein's question to her friend Yvette while running along Gamski street that morning. She did not like jogging. Her friend was really pushy and dropped her off at her house very early.

"Go grocery shopping," she replied. "The house is out of stock. I don't want my Papsy to scold me."

"Okay. Me too. The stock that Zelda bought for me has also run out."

"Zelda is still visiting you?" Yvette asked surprisingly.

Zein gave a nod. She used the face cloth she was carrying to wipe the sweat that was dripping from her forehead. She was somewhat breathing, and her back was also perspiring. Her black shirt felt wet to her touch.

When Yvette seemed to have left her side, she scowled. She slowed down and made a U-turn. When she noticed her stalker-like friend peering through a large gate, her mouth dropped open. She took off in reverse. Yvette had no idea that she was falling behind.

'What is this Bengut doing?'

"Stalker," Zein whispered in her ear.

Yvette immediately moved away from her and grabbed her chest. "Don't do that again, okay? I got nervous."

"Who are you looking at?" she asked but Yvette didn't answer. The woman just continued to struggle.

She wanted to know the reason why Yvette peeked so she also approached the gate and peeked through the small holes there even though it was high up.

"It took him a while to come out," her friend said.

"Who are you waiting for?" After a while, she realized something. She briefly turned to Yvette. "Wait, don't tell me this was your reason why you invited me to jog with you?"

Yvette immediately nodded and was thrilled like a teenager. From the looks of her, she wouldn't think that her friend was twenty-five. Yvette was mestiza and beautiful but just lacks height. Add to that her shoulder-length black hair and her thin bangs covering her forehead.

Bengut really has a baby face.

"I am waiting for Marcus."

She frowned again. "Marcus? Who is that?"

The woman looked up and parted the bangs. "You are not really known to us anymore."

Zein placed the tip of her tongue on the corner of her cheek. "Sorry, huh? Because I went to Japan," she said sarcastically.

Zein was about to leave and leave her friend with what she was doing but suddenly the gate opened so they were both caught when they fell to the ground.

"Ouch!" she moaned and rubbed her knee.

She was helping Yvette to stand. She pulled on her pants but her friend chose to confront the person who opened the gate. She was the only one who shook her friend's pants.

"Why did you open the gate?!" Yvette asked angrily. Only then did Zein look at the man's face. Surprise was also on his face.

"Batman?" the man asked with a smile.

Zein nodded seriously. "It's you, Barney."

Yvette covered her mouth and faced her in amazement. "You know this Violet?"

She frowned. "Yes?"

Yvette closed her eyes and shook her head. Zein's mouth fell open when her friend hit Barney. "Why did you open the gate?!"

"Of course, this is the place where I live. What kind of question is that?" the man asked in confusion.

Yvette blinked and suddenly pulled him away. Zein looked at Barney who was confused by her friend's behavior. "I thought you wanted to see your Marcus?"

Yvette squealed. "Let's go home. Violet ruined my morning!"

Although Zein was perplexed by what had occurred, she didn't press her friend too much. If she joins, the problem with Barney will only worsen. Knowing her friend, she. Yvette made a decision too quickly, but she managed to get through it.

They temporarily repaired themselves at home. In order to avoid difficulty with their intended purchases, they drove together to the L Market close to the village.
