Chapter 5 Performing some ritual

Louis was seated in a fire circle, with a banshee go inararo going around chanting some spells. The weather even made the atmosphere scarier with the thunderstorm and lightning flashing just outside the palace.

All the palace staff and every other person that stayed in the palace apart had been put into a sleeping spell so no one would be able to witness what was going on.

Louis was getting impatient, he couldn't even sit properly. He felt restless and wanted to stand up but he couldn't, there was simply nowhere for him to go.

"You will become indestructible" were the only understandable words that the banshee chanted.

"Focus!!" He screamed and her voice was everywhere. Her eyes had turned to black holes, she looked so emotionless and she was completely out of control.

She didn't even have any control over herself, she was deeply engaged in her chants that they had almost taken complete control over her.

Slowly the fire began to queen h on its own, it was fading more than quenching.

Banshee stopped her chants and went to fetch hot sand that was initially in the burning fire and she scattered it on his face.

Rubbing it in his head and using it to bathe him, he was in pain, very serious pain.

"Ahh!! Banshee you witch, are you trying to kill me?" He groaned in pain and tried to hold back the tears, but she didn't even pay any attention to what he was saying.

"Shh!! Remain silent and stay still" she forced him to sit and stand still while she continued with her actions.

"I'm so disgusted. '' He tried to wipe off the sand from his body, which was burning up because of the hot sand.

"Just take a deep breath and the pain will fade '' she tried to make him breathe in a lot of air but he was unable to do so.

"Just do it, try it" she continued to encourage him, and eventually, he took a deep breath, holding in it for about 60 seconds before he finally released it.

By the time he had opened his eyes, he saw that the sand was all gone, the spin vanished and it felt like the sand had sunk into his skin.

Banshee brought a knife and tried using it to cut his skin but it couldn't penetrate.

"This is how you will get the firestone. But I must warn you, this only lasts for 24 hours. After 24 hours you will become your normal and harmful self once again" Banshee said almost in a whisper.

"So I have just one day??"Louis seemed frustrated.

''That's the best I can do for you" Banshee said quietly and walked away from him, leaving him all by himself.

Mara's POV

"These people have to be kidding" I was already so frustrated. Everyone watched the video like some kind of horror film.

"We still don't have a solution" I snapped them out of their thoughts.

"Ideas?" I widened my eyes and they shook in fear as if they just saw a ghost or something.

"You and Mia should go. You will be there to guide her and she will be there to carry the stone" Lakshmi suggested. She was making a lot of sense but it was still very risky.

"We don't have a choice, we are running out of time" Scott reminded us and he was right. If we don't ask fast then Louis is going to get the firestone before we do.

"And who is going to take care of banshee while you girls are home?" Ethane just had to ask.

"We ain't her nanny, she can take care of herself if she is seeking" Lakshmi gave the funniest reply I have heard so far.

"I mean, we are going to be watching Mia and Mara while they go hunting the firestone. Don't you think that banshee will be watching Louis as well?" Ethane raised an eyebrow that said, "you get it now?".

"Ooh" Lakshmi came back to her senses.

"That won't be a problem, just leave her to me" Scott spoke up.

"What?" I was more shocked at that point than when I was kidnapped.

"Are you telling me you are willing to take part in this?" I was forced to ask him.

Ethane had given me signals not to continue talking but what can I say? My tongue just has a mind of its own.

"Because you and Ethane over here have been dead silent" I snapped my fingers and pouted my lips.

"That's not true'' Ethane tried to protest.

"Babe?" Scott turned to Lakshmi for support which he did not get as she slowly looked away from him in an awkward way.

"Agreed" they both surrendered to us at the same time.

Then Rose's phone beeped.

"Shit! It's Mason, he wants to know where I am. I have to start going" she spoke the moment she read the message that came through. She picked up her bag and was about to leave.

"Just make sure you can walk when next we see you" Lakshmi teased her and Rose's face became swollen.

"She's right" I agreed with Lakshmi as we teased her.

Rose's POV

"I have been waiting for you... what took you so long babe?" Mason asked me as he took my hand and helped me get in the car.

I never knew he had a car.

"Where are you taking me now?" I asked him while I adjusted my seatbelt.

"You'll see and have you forgotten that we have our dinner date tonight? Is that why you ain't all dressed up?" He asked again.

Oh, my word! I had completely forgotten about it. How can I even forget such a thing? He will feel so bad.

"It's okay, I forget things all the time too. If my name was so stuck to me then I would have forgotten it as well" he laughed and kept on driving.

"You look very beautiful tonight" he complimented me when he saw that I had been quiet for too long and my smile had faded.

I wasn't upset with him, I was upset with myself or forgetting about such an important thing.

"Doesn't that line work when the lady is all dressed up and ready for the outing?" I asked him, forcing a smile on my face.

"You are still very beautiful, even without you being all dolled up" he complimented me. I pinched my fingernails and looked downwards, with an almost invisible smile. I managed to raise my head and look at him.

"I'm sorry Mason. I didn't mean to disappoint you" I felt like I needed to offer him a heartfelt apology even though he never requested one.

"You don't have to be sorry like I said earlier. I also forget things all the time. As long as it doesn't become a reoccurring event then I am good" Mason was so soft-spoken and understanding.

"You know, you don't like me very much. '' I said in a sad tone, he had to stop the car and look at me.

"And why would you say such to me?" He looked at me with such sad eyes.

"Because you didn't ask me out before now, you had to wait so long" I looked away from him, and frowned my face, pretending to be angry.

"Oh thank God it's just that" he seemed relieved and continued driving.

"I was just scared baby" he kissed me on the cheek as we finally came to a halt, with him looking for the perfect parking spot.

Oh my God! I cannot believe we are here.

"Are you sure we didn't stop at the wrong place?" I tugged into his shirt like a baby. When I noticed he didn't make any attempt to remove my hand, I quietly kept my hand down, feeling embarrassed.

"You are just too cute" he winked at me and bit his lower lip and came down from the car to open the door for me.
