Chapter 5 Not bad

Kashika's mind drifted to the first day the cute guy came to their apartment.

She had opened the door when she heard a knock.

"Hey, who are you?" She had ask him.

"Isn't this apartment 3?" He asked.

*

Her eyes widened when realisation hits her.

"This guy is our neighbor!" She exclaimed.

"Wait, you have a neighbor like this and you didn't tell me?" Shruti eyed her.

Kashika didn't even reply Shruti. She picked the bags from the floor and began wondering what is inside.

"Open it" Shruti said.

"No, it doesn't belongs to me. Madhulika is going to open it when she returns".

"Are you serious right now? What if it something dangerous, like a bomb".

"Stop with your assumptions, it would get us into trouble one day" Kashika rolled her eyes and opened the door. She walked into the house and Kashika followed suit.

A pizza store*

Madhulika stopped the bike in front of the store and then came down. She removed the helmet from her head and placed it on the bike.

She walked into the store and walked straight to the manager's office.

She knocked and a faint 'Come in' was heard.

Inside the office, a man in his middle thirties could be seen receiving orders in his laptop.

"Sir, my shift is over. I want my pay" She said immediately she got in and the man moved his gaze from his laptop to her.

"You didn't come early, Madhulika. In that case, you have to make one more delivery" He said and Madhulika shook her head.

"But sir, I... " She was trying to explain why she didn't come early, but he didn't give her the chance to.

"It's either you make the last delivery or go home without getting your pay" His mind has been made.

He stared down at his laptop and resumed what he was doing.

Madhulika glared at him. If looks could kill, the man would have been down below the ground by now.

"I will do it. What's the order and the address" It was better to do the last delivery and get her pay, than going home now with nothing when she had already done some delivery earlier - It would be a waste of time and effort.

"Khamla wali road, the seventh house, apartment three. Pryanti would give you the package" He told her.

'Khamla wali? That's my house address, but does anyone stay in apartment three? I haven't seen anyone there' She thought.

She walked out of the office and went to the room where the pizza was being made.

"Madhulika you are here already. Please sit and wait for me to package the orders, I will inform you when I am done" Pryanti said and Madhulika nodded before going to sit.

*****

Somewhere not too far away from Madhulika's house, Salma could be seen walking around, informing people about her son's marriage to Madhulika.

"I can't believe this, the Madhulika I know wouldn't get married to someone like Naman" A woman said the moment Salma walked away after informing them about the marriage.

"It is strange. Out of all the boys in India, why on earth does she wants to get married to that rascal boy" Another woman agreed with her.

A girl walked into the place with a smile lingering on her lips.

"And did you win a lottery or something?" The first woman asked.

"Haven't you heard what's trending around the whole of khamla? The girl you always compare me to, your very own good girl is getting married to the notorious Naman" She spilled out and when she noticed the two women wasn't surprised, she thought they didn't hear her well enough. "I said..."

"Go to your room and study!" Her mum (The first woman) snapped at her.

"I just want you to stop comparing me to her, it's annoying" She grumbled and walked away.

"I need to talk to Madhulika" The woman muttered and walked away, leaving only the second woman in the room.

*****

Madhulika parked the bike in front of the apartment. She removed her helmet and placed it in front of the bike.

She walked to the back of the bike, opened the place were goods are being kept.

She took out the package and walked to the door.

Knock! She knocked repeatedly till the door was opened.

The package she was holding almost fell from her hand the moment she saw who it was, but she quickly held it tight.

"You again" She said lowly, trying so hard to supress her anger.

Liam stared at the customized Tee-shirt she was wearing, then at the name written on the package she was holding.

"You are the delivery girl" It wasn't a question tho, it was more like a statement, cause from the look of things he was aware she was the delivery girl.

"Are you really stalking me, or is it just a coincidence?" It was annoying her that she always come across him.

"I am not a stalker. Even if I am, why on earth would I stalk you?... " He paused and sighed. "How are you feeling now? Aren't you supposed to rest after gaining consciousness, why on earth are you working?".

She scoffed, she didn't like the fact that he was trying to act concern when he was the one that caused it. "It all thanks to someone who poured my foodstuffs away" She said sarcastically.

"I am sorry about that. I gave your sister something to give to you, didn't she give you?" He asked. He had to, cause she didn't mention anything about it.

"My sister? What is that, and why did you give her?" She questioned.

Liam took the package from her hands and walked inside without replying her. Few seconds later, the door was shut.

Madhulika bit her lip, fuming in anger that he totally ignored her and slammed the door against her face.

"Someone needs to teach this arrogant guy a lesson" She muttered.

She turned to leave, but then remembered the guy didn't sign.

She turned back to the door and knocked loudly.

The door was opened and Liam who looked frustrated stepped out. "The book" He required, stretching forth is hand.

"How did you know about it?" She furrowed her brows and gave him the book and pen.

"Who the heck deliver goods without giving the client to sign? I know this because I do order things all the time" He replied.

He signed and returned the book and pen to her.

"You should really rest, you need it. I don't know why you are doing this job, but just know that your health matters a lot. Stay healthy" He advised and went back in.

Madhulika didn't know when a smile found its way to her face.

Aside her mum and sister, that was the first time someone was really caring about her health.

Then she knew he(Liam) wasn't as bad as she thinks.
