Chapter 3 Connected

Alberto's POV

I have no idea why I threatened her but a part of me felt drawn and connected to her. I can't explain it, but I wanted her alive at all cost to the point that I didn't realize when I threatened her to live.

Lately, I have been feeling tense because my identical twin brother kept doing things that are far from proper which tainted my image because no one knew the difference between us whenever he did not straighten his hair.

I felt so nervous while I sat in the great hall as I waited for the council of elders to arrive. My mate was to be revealed and I had no idea how to feel about it. Seated on the chair, I awaited my fate to be decided by seven old men.

After about fifteen minutes of waiting, they finally began to arrive one after the other. In a few minutes, they were all seated but I noticed worry etched on their faces.

"Good morning" I greeted, with a fake smile sitting on my lips.

"Morning Alberto" they responded in chorus.

"We would get into the business of the day without wasting time." Elder Amarog, the oldest of them all said to us.

He was able to get everyone's undivided attention with that as we all patiently waited for him to speak. A sense of intense anticipation filled the air and I could not help but be worried about their facial expression.

"This is meant to be a happy announcement but I am deeply sorry that it isn't." Elder Amarog stated and i began to sweat as so much emotions swirled within me at the same that it felt like i was going to explode. I tried to remain calm as I waited for him to continue.

"I am deeply sorry to inform you that your mate is Akira the omega."

It was so shocking and disappointing to hear that, it felt like my knees were trembling beneath me.

"Please wake me up from this nightmare." I pleaded but it felt like no one understood how I felt.

"I'm sorry son, but that is what the seer saw. The moon goddess has decided and you must accept her as your mate." Elder Amarog said conclusively and they all began to disperse leaving me alone in the great hall.

I sat there in denial because I had no idea how I was going to have an omega as a mate. Anomega that I had no idea if she would live or die.

"No... no... no... I ought to wake up. This is a bloody nightmare" I kept muttering to myself as I slapped myself on the cheek hoping I would wake but the harder I slapped myself, the more I inflicted pain on myself for a reality I didn't want to accept.

My brother and I do not not see eye to eye which got me thinking about how he would mock me when he finds out a weakling is my mate.

Sitting right there on the chair, I decided I wasn't going to claim her as my mate.

I left the great hall and went about my daily activities as usual without adhering to the instructions of the elders about claiming my mate.

Still living in denial, I refused to claim her as my mate until the council of elders threatened that my identical twin brother, Gonzalo might fight for the position of the alpha supreme. I know Gonzalo really well and I am very sure he wouldn't mind bloodshed as he would not want to lose twice.

Seconds turned into minutes and minutes into days and days into weeks but yet, I still refused to claim Akira as my mate.

After so much deliberation, I finally decided to claim her, which led me to send for her.

After a few minutes, she arrived and I was impressed to see her looking really strong and as good as new. Thankfully, I didn't lose hope when the physician told me she would not make it. I watched her in detail and I couldn't help but be mesmerized by her beauty.

She stopped after taking a few steps in and I asked her to come in. I could see so much confusion and nervousness etched on her face.

"Good evening sire." Akira greeted humbly with a curtsy.

"Evening Akira, without beating about the bush; I'll love to go straight to the point." I started without giving her enough time to settle in as it looked like my presence terrified her.

"Okay sire." She responded humbly which made her instantly loveable.

"You are my mate and I would like to complete the mating bond with you because I am ready to claim you."I dropped the bombshell and I could see how worried she looked.

Her facial expression seemed like one whose world has been shattered into a million pieces. Within a split second, she went on her knees and looked at me like she was begging for mercy.

At this point, I became confused as I wondered what this is about. "I am sorry sire, I cannot agree to what you ask of me. I am deeply in love with Alpha Gonzalo. My heart belongs to him and I cannot betray our love." she begged me in tears and i just sat there looking at her as i felt a surging anger within me.

"How could Gonzalo betray me like this?" I muttered to myself as I hoped to be woken up from this nightmare.

I became instantly filled with so much confusion and I could hardly think straight. "For how long have you been in a relationship with my brother?" I asked her with a lump in my throat.

"For.... for... days. No weeks." she stuttered in response.

Without thinking, I stood up and dashed out of the great hall in search of my brother. At this point, I didn't mind what was going to come from me challenging him but I needed to. Not only did he make my chosen mate fall in love with him, he also made her reject me which is an insult to my pride.
