Chapter 5: meeting the boss

" That's none of my concern, how long has she been absent, '' he asked.

" for the past two days sir," the secretary said.

" hehe this Graham's do really think too highly of themselves. Get me her number from the employees file right away" he said angrily

The secretary ran away quickly to get it. She came back with the number shortly.

At The Condominium

Andrea was seated on the bed eating some fruits when she heard her cell phone next to her ringing she glanced at the caller ID and it was from an unknown number

She picked up with a puzzled look.

" Hello, who is this? " she asked calmly.

" Get your lazy ass to the company within two hours or else kiss your job goodbye " Sean said in a bossy tone.

" hey! Who the hell do you think you are? You think you can just form numbers and start calling people telling them bull shits " she said about hanging up.

" It's your boss speaking, " Sean said through gritted teeth.

" My boss? Oh please, he's no different from a ghost. I haven't seen him before. Don't ever call this number again fool " she muttered and hung up.

Sean stared at his phone and his cheeks turned red from anger know on has ever dared hanging up on him but this lady had the audacity to do so.

The secretary bit her lip hard fighting the urge to laugh. The phone was on speaker and they all heard their conversation.

Sean gave the secretary a side glance " give her a call right away " he said and she nodded and walked away fully knowing what to do.

He was looking forward to seeing the audacious lady that dared calling him a fool.

Andrea was still eating her fruits peacefully when she heard her phone ringing for the second time.

" hey Andrea the boss demanded you come to the the office right away"

She felt like a bomb went off in her head " huh? The..the boss? " she asked again and she thought her ear might be playing tricks with her.

" Yes, he called you a while ago, why did you get into a fight with him? "the secretary said.

"Oh my, I didn't know he was the one who called. I thought it was a prank call " she said as she threaded her fingers into her hair.

She couldn't afford to lose her current job. There was no where she could get a good pay better than this after fully knowing well that she had decided to keep the baby she was already planning on saving up.

" umm I will be right there " she said and hung up.

She just realised how stupid she had acted. She didn't go to the company for the past two days and no one was informed she was so depressed and devastated that she couldn't think straight.

" Oh no! I'm going to lose my job today " she said with a panicked voice.

She quickly stood up and got dressed. She grabbed her phone and dialled the number that had called her but it kept ringing but Sean didn't pick.

"Gosh! He must be mad at me right now" she mumbled as she headed for the door.

" Hey Andrea, where are you heading too? Elena asked as she came out from the kitchen in an apron.

" To the company something urgent came up. I will tell you once I get back " she said and left the house.

Shimmers Company

Sean was seated in his office while going through some files. It had been a year since he last visited this branch; he was quite surprised and impressed by the development of the company. Everything was being run properly he didn't have anything to complain or worry about.

He couldn't help but nod with satisfaction as he went through the last page of the file. " Good, " he muttered.

The secretary smiled delightfully. She had been worried before but now she was relieved.

" who was kept incharge all this while " he said, finally raising his head from the file.

" It's Ms. Andrea Graham, " she replied.

He was stunned by the same lady that called him a fool. No wonder she was so full of herself a while ago.

He was even more interested in seeing her.

" You can leave now, " he said to the secretary.

She nodded and headed to the door, just then Drew trooped in.

" Boss, something came up in the main branch. I don't know what happened. Our stocks are depreciating and the media and masses are causing a ruckus outside the company. All the employees are trapped in the building presently.

A deep line appeared on his forehead. He brought out his tablet and indeed the stocks are depreciating.

He had lost almost a billion dollars in just an hour. He guessed he had to leave immediately.

" We will be leaving right away, inform them to prepare the private jet. " he said and rose from his seat.

Immediately Sean's car drove away from the company, Andrea came down from the taxi. She paid the driver off and walked into the company. She took the elevator to her floor instantly. she came out and the secretary walked over to her.

" The boss just left now, " Amber said.

" What do you mean he left? Did he get tired waiting for me? " she asked quizzically.

" no, something came up in the main branch that he had to take care of, " Amber said.

" You mean he had left for America, " she asked again.

Amber nodded and she heaved a sigh of relief she had been scared thinking she might have lost her job today luckily the heaven's was in her favour.

From now on I will take my job more seriously, " she thought.

She went into her office and placed her hand on her tummy. Sometimes she couldn't believe she was going to be a mother.

She didn't know how it feels to have a mother after all she was abandoned since she was a child she just hoped she would be an amazing mother to the baby.

Westwell Estate

" What do you mean the contract was cancelled? " Lachlan yelled over the phone to his secretary.

" Yes sir, we suddenly got a call that Mr Wilson is no longer interested " the secretary said in a fearful voice.

Just then Naomi walked in with a grave expression on her face. Lachlan glared at her.

" I will hang up now, " he said.

He turned back to Naomi who was about to take the stairs. " Naomi!" he called out.

She turned around slowly " yes dad " she said sounding impatient.

" What in the world did you do? I just got a call that Mr Wilson is no longer interested in the contract " he screamed at her.

Naomi placed her hand on her waist. " Look Dad am in no mood for all this if he's no longer interested then so be it " she said angrily.

Lachlan held his chest in anger; he felt he might suffer a heart attack soon enough because of his family.

His jaw clenched trying to suppress the anger emitting within him.

" You useless child, do you know how many years I have been looking forward to this day? Do you know how much profit I would have made from this contract? You went and ruined it with your empty brain. You said you got it,is this how you got it ?" he said moving closer as he roared like he was about to eat her up.

Naomi flinched and swallowed hard " if that he had fell for my charms you would not have been saying all this he would have been your son in-law, instead of you to console me that my crush didn't like me you are here yelling at me over spilled milk " she said also raising her voice.

Rosette came down shortly from upstairs " what's going on here? '' she asked.

" Ask this unfilial daughter of yours who went and ruined my years of hard work " Lachlan said.

" Mom I didn't. I tried seducing him but he didn't take a second glance at me " she said, sounding wrong, tears were already welling up in her eyes.

"What nonsense! " Lachlan said and marched away.

He got into the car and the driver drove off, on his way his mind went back to Andrea.

I have to look for a way to get Andrea to work for my company. Wait a minute Mr Wilson is her boss I'm sure she can help but how do I get the prideful peacock to work for me " he thought as he rubbed the area's between his brows.

" This is going to be a little difficult, if she refuses to help then I will do it the hard way. Yes! That's what I'm going to do." An evil thought pops out of his head making him smirk.

An evil smile crept on his face " Take me to South Song street "he said to the chauffeur.
