Chapter 5 Unraveling Lies

Tyler's accusation left me feeling devastated. I curled up on the couch, tears streaming down my face, desperately trying to figure out how to fix this mess. I had never cheated on Tyler, and I couldn't bear the thought of losing him over baseless suspicions.

As I reached for my phone to text Tyler and tell him I was sorry, I noticed a message from an unsaved number. The message read "I know what you're going through. Meet me at Cafe Verde at noon tomorrow, and I'll make things right."

I frowned, confused. Who could this be? And what did they mean by "making things right?" I tried texting back, but the person had already blocked their number. I spent most of the night tossing and turning, unable to shake off the unsettling feeling in my gut.

The next morning, I went to work as usual but found myself distracted by thoughts of the mysterious text. I made some calls and texts, trying to see if any of my friends or colleagues had sent it, but no one had. My curiosity grew with every passing minute, and I couldn't help but wonder if this was related to the mess with Tyler.

As noon approached, I made my way to Cafe Verde, my heart pounding in my chest. A quick scan of the coffee shop made me realize that that the person I was supposed to meet was none other than Andrew, my coworker.

"Hey," I said, my voice betraying my nerves.

"Thanks for coming," he said, motioning for me to sit down. "I know this is all confusing, but there's something you need to know."

"What is it?" I asked, feeling my patience wearing thin.

"Leah, I know you're innocent," Andrew said, his eyes locked onto mine. "Jack, your sister's friend, he's the one that's been spreading all these rumors about you."

"What? Why?" I demanded, feeling anger and frustration building inside of me.

"I'm not sure. But I heard him talking to someone on the phone, bragging about how he was going to ruin your relationship with Tyler," Andrew said, his own voice shaking.

I felt like the ground was crumbling beneath my feet. Jack, my own sister's friend, was behind all this? I couldn't believe it. I had always thought he was trustworthy and kind.

"What do we do now?" I asked, my voice trembling.

"We need to confront Jack," Andrew said, his own eyes filled with determination.

I felt a sense of relief flood over me as I realized that I wasn't alone in this. I had a friend in Andrew, someone who was willing to fight for me and my relationship with Tyler. Together, we hatched a plan to confront Jack and finally unravel the lies he had been spreading.

As we left Cafe Verde, I felt a sense of clarity, knowing that things were finally falling into place. But I couldn't ignore the mystery that still hung over Jack's motivations - and what his true intentions were for trying to ruin my relationship with Tyler.
