"Enjoying the party?" Godson asked.

Brandon turned to give him his attention. He hated people sneaking up on him especially when they were the likes of Godson. Brandon fought the urge to roll his eyes and punch Godson's face. What was he so smug about?

"Seeing as you came all the way to my office to give me the invitation, I couldn't miss this." Brandon replied to him coolly.

"Of course you came here only because I gave you the invitation...."

"Um, no. That's wrong. You only delivered it individually. I had no idea we were that close. You came all the way to my office?" Brandon asked him.

"Ah, my apologies. You're right. Well, I hope the party is to your liking." Godson said to him.

"It's fairly okay. I have to say, I expected more from the Templeton's though." Brandon said to him.

"Oh? What exactly is not up to your expectations here?" Godson asked him.

"You don't really need me to spell it out for you now right?" Brandon asked him.

"Well, if it's not a bluff then I'm sure you can do so." Godson said to him.

"I heard you were the smartest among the Templetons. It appears to not be so. With a brain like yours, I was thinking you would be able to identify what is actually wrong or where you fall short in throwing this party." Brandon said to him.

Godson gritted his teeth. He was sure Brandon was bluffing. The party was well beyond expectations. Even Brandon's family wouldn't be able to plan something like this. Godson had gone to this length just so he could boast and feel a bit superior to the Silvers but Brandon was looking down on him? No, there is no way he was going to fall for this scheme. Godson composed himself and with a smirk, he said to Brandon

"Now, I have more reason to believe this is all just bluffing. You are just jealous because this party is better than any party your family could ever throw."

Brandon stood and gave him an incredulous look. Did Godson really think his family's party would be less than this? Brandon wasn't one to boast and he had said what he said just to spite Godson at first but now everything was taking a turn because he meant everything he said.

"You really think this outshines my family's party? This?" Brandon asked him with the same incredulous look on his face.

"Think is an overstatement. I know." Godson said to him with a smirk.

Brandon shook his head with a small smile plastered on his face. Godson really thought this party was a lot better than any party the Silver family had thrown and will also throw in the future. There was no use arguing with Godson. He really wasn't worth Brandon's time.

"Why did you send me the invitation personally?" Brandon asked him.

"Changing the topic? Seems you know you've lost." Godson said to him but Brandon satyrd silent and gave him a raised eyebrow as a reply.

"Don't think you are special. I delivered it personally to everybody." Godson said to him.

"Really? Wow, I think Kevin said your assistant or someone delivered the invitation he got. You did not deliver that invitation to my brother, yourself and neither did you give it to Piper yourself." Brandon said to him with a smile.

Godson's smirk vanished and Brandon's smile widened. Godson really did look silly to Brandon. He was trying to prove to Brandon that he was bigger than him but it was obvious he needed to learn more. In more sensible terms, Godson needed to grow up.

"Where is the smile you had?" Brandon asked him with a chuckle.

"Piper appears to be mista...."

"I don't really care about that. Now, if we are done with this chat, I need to leave." Brandon turned to leave but then he felt a hand holding him back.

Godson held him firmly and looked at him directly.

"You can pretend all you want but I know this wedding is hitting you. Besides, what you have has been given to someone else just like that."

"What I have?" Brandon asked him with a frown.

"Sorry, what you had. I have to say, it was the most delicious thing ever. Like taking candy from a baby." Godson said to him.

Brandon gave him a frown. There was no way he understood what Godson was saying to him. What candy and what the fuck did he have? Well, it's not like it mattered.

"If you are done, you can let me go now." Brandon said to him.

"Of course. How rude of me." Godson said as he released his hold on Brandon.

Godson thought he had won this little match and Brandon was willing to let him have the win but then, he saw something that made him smile.

"You know, apart from failing to plan a good party, your family needs to do better at picking a good groom." Brandon said to him.

"Jealous?" Godson asked him with a cocky smile.

Brandon looked at him in confusion. He was sure there was something wrong with Godson. Why the fuck would he be jealous of Hugo? There was nothing that man had that would make Brandon jealous. Brandon shook his head and regained his composure. He was sure Godson was being delusional or maybe he had a mental case he still had not taken care of.

"Jealous of someone hitting on someone else when his wife is just two steps away from him? No, and just so you know, everyone is looking at him right now. You may want to do some damage control." Brandon said to him.

"Again with the bluff?" Godson asked him.

Brandon took a new glass of champagne from the servers before replying to Godson.

"Am I?" He asked him as he pointed in the direction where Hugo was.

Godson scoffed and turned. He had thought Brandon was bluffing when he first said Hugo was hitting on a girl in public but to his surprise, it was true. He scowled when he saw the disgusting man try his moves on Mrs. Zachary. One of the family's clients and a highly important one. If her husband heard of this, he would be absolutely furious. And Emma had no idea of what was going on because she was talking with Lydia. It was up to him to save the day or do some damage control because people were already taking note of Hugo's behavior.

"Time to do some damage control. Cheers." Brandon said to him with a chuckle as he walked away to do some mingling before making his way home.

Godson was furious. Emma could see it as he stomped his way to her. She thought he was coming to meet with her but he moved past her. She was about to say something but refrained from saying so. She kept quiet and observed as he made his way to Hugo. He excused both of them and they moved to a corner to discuss. Emma knew she had to do something to calm her cousin down if not, things were going to spiral out of control.

"Excuse me." She said to the couple she had been conversing with and made her way to where Hugo stood with her cousin.

"Godson." She called out.

"Ah, there she is." Hugo said with a smile but she could see through him.

He was not happy to see her and his voice was laced with sarcasm.

"What were you doing?" Godson asked her in anger. They were at a far corner of the room, away from the eyes of the guests as they mingled.

"What?" She asked him with a confused look on her face. Why was he taking his anger out on her? What was happening right now and what was wrong with him?

"He was right next to you, flirting. Dishonour g the family name while you stood next to some nobodies, chatting with them." He said to her,

"They are not nobodies." She said to him,

The couple she had been talking with happened to be part of her clients and they were the most stable and trusting clients she had ever done business with which was why she had insisted Godson send them an invitation.

"Of course they are. I've been watching you, Emma and you have failed to converse with the people grandfather strictly told you to converse with. Instead, you are talking with nobodies. People who mean nothing to us." He spat out.

"What are...."

"And you." He said as he turned to Hugo who swallowed. His voice had a dangerous tone as he said to Hugo "don't forget our deal. If you fuck this up, you know what will be coming for you."

"You can't use that on me forever. It will grow old at some point and you know it." Hugo said to him with mock bravery.

It was clear to Emma that the man was scared of Godson but why? What dirt did Godson have on him to make him that scared?
