Chapter 10 Doctor

The day was extremely tiring for Maximo. He had lunch with the others in the field, and when he got home Carolina was listening to music so loud, he could hear it from the first floor.

"What does this woman have on her mind?" he asked himself irritably. Maximo was never a party person, only going to the ones he had to. "Carolina!"

He went upstairs and his head was already dizzy. The noise was deafening to him. It wasn't just his skin that was destroyed by the fire. He became very sensitive to loud noises on the more affected side.

Barely seeing, he reached the bedroom and pushed the door open, making him lose his balance. Carolina let out a scream and then her eyes widened when she saw him on the floor. She turned off the music.

"Maximo!" She said and got out of bed, not remembering that she had an injured foot and ended up screaming in pain as she fell to the floor, too.

At that moment, Maximo's anger dissolved when he saw her crying in pain. He was still feeling bad, but he approached her.

"Are you okay?" he asked, feeling like an idiot. If she was okay, she wouldn't be crying, would she?

"What about you?" she asked, placing her hand on his face.

He covered her hand to his face and looked into her eyes. Though tearful, she seemed worried about him, but he quickly brushed it off. Why the hell would she be worried about him?

Maximo got up, still slightly dizzy, and picked her up from the floor, placing her on the bed and letting himself fall there, too.

"Don't put on... loud music," he asked, and she looked at him strangely.

"Does that make you feel bad?" She asked, because she noticed that his face was tense and he seemed to be in pain. He fell to the ground, by heaven!

Maximo put his hand to the side of his mask, to his ear.

"I can't with such loud noises."

Then he realized he shouldn't have told her that. She now knew one of his weaknesses!

"How's your foot?" He changed the subject, and she looked down at her throbbing foot.

"It hurts now."

"You are an idiot. Why did you step on the floor?"

She looked at him in disbelief, then sneered.

"I heard you were an intelligent man, but I've honestly been doubting it."

"What... What do you mean by that, woman?" He got up, angrily.

"Hey, you're the one making stupid assumptions here. I don't know what's going on in that little head of yours, but it seems kind of incapable to me sometimes. Maybe I have to interdict you."

She said it jokingly, but he didn't take it as a joke. Maximo grabbed Carolina by the chin, with a little more strength than he should have.

"I'm not incapable of taking care of myself or my business!"

She narrowed her eyes and pushed his hand away, but of course he didn't move.

"Let me go!" she said, mouth pouting. "You are a brute!"

He looked her up and down and saw the 'love marks' he had left on her neck and bosom.

"As if you don't like it." He pulled her closer to him, smirking.

Carolina's eyes went to his mouth and he smiled even wider. Then Maximo remembered something. He spent the day with something on his mind, he just didn't know what it was.

"Carolina! You haven't been to the doctor yet!" He pulled away from her, shaking his head.

She frowned at him.

"What do you mean?"

He ran his hands through his hair.

"You got hurt and you didn't go to the doctor. I brought you home and no doctor!"

He cursed some more and left the room. She hadn't even realized it. She was very distracted by him and thinking about everything he could do to her. She had even turned the music up so loud in an attempt of thinking about something else.

Maximo hurried down the stairs. His cell phone was dead, so he headed into the office to call. He didn't keep a phone in his room so he wouldn't be too comfortable, meaning he would be forced to leave the bedroom.

"Is everything okay, boss?" Dolores asked.

"Yeah, I just need to call the doctor."

"Oh, sir. Sorry, I completely forgot about that," Dolores said, feeling guilty. She thought he would and so she didn't realize he hadn't called a doctor to take care of Carolina's injuries.

"All good. The obligation was mine Dolores."

He called the doctor, the same one who took care of him when he had to go to the farm, to isolate himself.

"Hi, Dr. Claudio! Oh, I would like you'd come over here. My wife got her foot hurt."

"Did you get married? Congratulations!" the doctor said on the other end of the line. "And sur, sure. I'm finishing here and I'll be on my way to the farm, very soon."

"Thanks!"

It didn't take even an hour for the doctor to get there. He was tan skinned, with almond eyes and short hair. The man was tall, though he still stood at least four fingers shorter than Maximo.

"Welcome, Doctor. She's in the bedroom."

Maximo accompanied the man who, as soon as the doctor entered the room and saw Carolina, his face went livid.

"Hello!" she said gently. Carolina had changed into sweatpants and a loose-fitting blouse. Maximo thought it was good that she wasn't wearing clothes that would show off her body. With her, he was getting more and more jealous without noticing it.

"Only I can see all of her!" he thought.

However, apparently, that was not enough for the doctor not to be enchanted by her.

Maximo didn't notice anything until the doctor placed his hands on Carolina's ankle and sighed lightly. He was very professional, however, he was acting completely out of character at that moment.

"Is everything okay, doctor?" Maximo asked, frowning.

'He wouldn't dare,' he thought.

"Yes, yes", Dr. Claudio replied and coughed a little to clear his throat. "I believe she didn't break anything, but it would be good to take a look at the hospital, do an x-ray."

"Right..."

Maximo glared at Carolina, because that meant he would have to go to town once more.

"If you want, I'll take her myself. I know you don't like to go out, Mr. Castillo."

Maximo looked at him seriously.

Maximo then gave a weak smile, but Carolina knew there was a dangerous touch there.

"I'll take care of my wife. And it doesn't matter if I don't like going out. She is MY wife, so yes, I will take her for any necessary tests myself."

The doctor swallowed hard and glanced in Carolina's direction. This made Maximo even angrier.

'Fucking bastard!' he thought. He and Carolina might not have been married for love, but she was still his wife and that damn doctor wanted to have much more than a doctor-patient relationship with her. Maximo was a man, one who had already done a lot of naughty things and he knew very well what was going on in the doctor's head.

"Of course, Mr. Castillo", Dr. Claudio said and smiled weakly."Well, do you want to go now?"

"We'll leave in the morning," Maximo said. "She's already tired enough. I will take her there tomorrow."

'All right" Claudio said and Maximo went to the door, calling for Dolores.

"Please accompany Dr. Claudio to the exit. I'm staying here with my wife."

Dolores knew Maximo too well to know he was staking out his territory. She smiled inwardly and nodded, turning to the doctor.

"Doctor, this way, please."

As soon as the doctor left, Maximo slammed the door angrily. Carolina remained silent. She was still a little confused. Initially, the two seemed almost like friends, and then Maximo was furious.

He turned to his wife.

"That impudent motherfu...!" He grumbled and walked over to her, tucking his hand into Carolina's hair behind her head and making her face him, but not hurting her. "Did you find him handsome?"
