Chapter 8 The Lowest Omega

'I doubt if Amber was treated like this in the first timeline,' Diana thought.

Hands in her luggage, she stood in front of a room akin to a utility room inside the Blood Claws Pack. Sighing at how childish the alpha was acting, she opened the dingy old door with the rusty key Beta Seymor gave her right after arriving at the back of the pack house.

No welcoming. No introduction. Nothing. Diana's arrival was treated like a grand secret befitting of a criminal.

"I wouldn't wonder if I find any dead body here," mumbled Diana. She wandered around the tiny room.

Aside from a bed which was fairly new, a cabinet, a study table, and a chair, there was nothing. There was no source of light either. The wall had yellowish streaks on the wallpaper. Cobwebs littered the corners of her ceiling. And the small window right in front of her study table was dusty.

"At least the bed is comfy."

Diana did not mind being in this kind of room. Almost all her life, she lived as the lesser one. This time, she would use this as an opportunity. The more they looked down on her, the more complacent they would be with her. This would give her enough space to move like a rat in the gutter.

'After fixing this room and my things, I will go and look for that person. I need her for my plans and-'

A fairly loud knock pulled Diana from her train of thought. Frowning, she asked. "What is it?"

Rudely, a series of loud knocks persisted.

Diana bit back her tongue. Before she open the door, she put on the mask of a meek omega who was still insecure in a new territory. "Yes?"

A petite woman with freckles and pimples littering her entire face welcomed Diana's line of vision. Both of her hands were on her waist, an aggressive stance which was an attempt to show who was the dominant one between them. The frown in between her thick brows was the telltale sign of her irritation. To what? Diana was yet to know.

"When will you finish fixing your things? Never forget who you are!"

"I-I don't get it." Fidgeting her fingers, Diana did not fail to notice the growing smirk on the woman's face, distracting her from the woman's wheat-colored hair.

"Madam Sally! You must address me as Madam Sally! I am the head of servants in the pack house, the trusted caretaker of 'the' alpha." Pride and arrogance dripped from her crooked teeth. Sally threw a map to Diana's feet. "You are in charged of cleaning all the toilets in the pack house."

Stepping forward, she tiptoed to face Diana head-on. "And never ever show your face in front of the people!"

"Why, M-Madam Sally?"

Diana's gums itched when Sally hit her right arm. Though her wolf merely whimpered, Diana was not above adding a name from her long list of to-kill notes. Blood poured down her throat as her canines descended, stabbing the insides of her mouth from the anger she was feeling. The last string of sanity stopped Diana from answering her savage need to put Sally in place-six feet under the ground.

"Did I tell you to answer back?" Sally poked Diana's forehead. "As an omega, you have no opinion of your own. You move for the masters, that's it! Understand?"

'I can feel that this is just the surface of my future here under Sally's tutelage,' Diana pondered as she nodded.

"You only speak when needed. Your opinions are insignificant here! I don't care who you are from the Crescent Pack. Alpha Dylan entrusted you to me. You are the lowest rank among all the omegas, so never dare to raise your head in front of the higher-ups."

Until Sally left, Diana remained with her head hanging low. As soon as the woman vanished from her line of sight, Diana's submissive countenance was replaced with coldness as she stared at the floor.

'Calm down, Diana. For revenge, you cannot waste your time on someone as insignificant as that woman. Unless you can use her, you must pay no attention to her.' Diana chanted this mantra at the back of her mind as she closed the door.

SCRUBBING THE GUMS STUCK IN between the tiles of the comfort room was not new for Diana. Even in the Crescent Pack, whenever everyone was busy and she was left alone, she would always find herself in this kind of situation. Shaking her head, she crouched in the corner. The comfort room had been closed for maintenance.

Since the comfort room she was cleaning at was located in the separate annex from the pack house, as per Sally's instruction, Diana could not help but find it helpful. She would have the alibi of getting and meeting that person.

With her back against the closed door, she turned around sharply after hearing the banging sound of the door being forced open.

On instinct, Diana pulled out the dagger that her father had gifted her on her eighteenth birthday.

But Diana's attempt to defend herself was rendered useless in the face of the blue-eyed alpha. Both of her wrists were pinned above her head and her back was pressed against the sink.

"What do you want, Alpha Dylan? As you can see, I am quite busy." Diana only lasted for a minute in staring into his deep blue eyes. As an omega, she was pushing her limits too far when every nerve in her body was begging her to show her neck and submit.

His hot breath fanned over her face. "Did you bleed?"

The way he growled his words made her freeze. On instinct, she looked into his eyes again, only to see the bestial wisp within his azure gaze.

'His wolf is the one talking.' Realization dawned upon Diana.

Shivers ran down her spine. Diana knew more than anyone else how deadly it was to be in a presence of a werewolf whose wolf had resurfaced-and an alpha at that who was more irritable than normal. Diana immediately lowered her gaze and showed her neck.

'I will not die now! My vengeance is yet to be served!' Diana screamed in her mind as she pulled back her presence. She wanted to appear insignificant in front of the fuming alpha.

Diana's eyes widened when Alpha Dylan held her chin and guided her gaze to meet his. Blinking, she was left speechless by the next thing he did.

The stoic-looking alpha pinched her jaws, making her open her mouth. Before Diana could react, he held her arms and shook her in a tight grip. His booming voice resonated inside the comfort room.

"Why did you bleed? Who hurt you?"

'Are you crazy? You are the one who gave that woman a free pass to bully me!' Of course, Diana could only snap at him at the back of her mind. If she wanted to keep her arms attached to her body, she needed to answer him.

"Alpha, I do not know what you mean-"

He growled.

"-but I only bit my tongue accidentally while cleaning."

Though Diana did not know why his wolf was behaving like this, she could see in his hazy dark blue eyes that the eye of the storm had finally passed. The darkness in his gaze slowly vanished.

"Alpha?" asked Diana when she saw him closing his eyes with his jaws clenched.

So suddenly, Alpha Dylan Cain let go of Diana haphazardly. Comparing her body to his, she was pushed on the floor with a thud.

'And now he is back to being a jerk,' Diana thought with a relieved sigh.

"So, why are you here?" Diana stripped all cordiality before him whose gaze kept on wandering around the comfort room.

"Don't think far ahead, woman." Alpha Dylan picked up the brush Diana dropped. "I am only here because my wolf feels responsible for you."

"Your wolf is gone. You can leave me be to do my job, or else the supervisor you tasked to keep an eye on me will flip." Diana stretched her hand to take the brush from him.

"Since I am here, I hate to waste my time. I can see that you did poorly in cleaning the gums. Let me demonstrate how to clean it."

Diana was left speechless for the second time when the grumpy alpha crouched on the comfort room's floor. He started scrubbing with his back against her. With him wearing a tight sleeveless shirt, every time he moved his arms, she could not help but watch his muscles flex.

Shaking her head, Diana tapped her cheeks lightly to wake herself up. She did not like where her mind was going. Clearing her throat, she inched closer. "Uhm, Alpha. This kind of task is not suited for you."

"Why are you behind me?" He turned around and pulled her by the wrist, making Diana stand beside his crouching form. "You have to stay beside me and watch how I do things!"

Diana simply pulled her wrist. She stood awkwardly to the man who hated her from the first time they met. Diana decided to remain silent and let him do as he pleased.

'He will be out of here after a couple of minutes,' Diana reassured herself-or so she thought.

Two hours later, the comfort room, which Diana was supposed to clean, became spotless clean because of one person-the topless Alpha Dylan Cain!

Diana was speechless. Like a fish out of the water, her mouth opened and closed, too dumbfounded to utter even a word.

Turning around her, the emotionless alpha asked her. "What's next on your list?"

"Wh-What?"
