Chapter 2 No.2

Gloria's mind became clearer after the despair. She understood that Camille had already revealed her thoughts the moment Camille said, "I will visit you another time."

"Camille, do you still consider it a kind gesture if you pay a visit?" Gloria asked.

Gloria removed Camille's hand, which was grabbing her arm tightly. She pushed Camille away and said, "Will you excuse me? Camille, I'm busy."

After that, Gloria turned around and walked clumsily towards Patrick in her heels.

She didn't walk towards Alger and Harry again because there was no point in questioning them anymore.

Standing not too far, Alger and Harry saw that Gloria was not walking towards them. They heaved a sigh of relief, but before they resumed calm, they were frightened again.

"Why is she walking towards Mr. Hammond?" Alger asked Harry, looking worried.

Alger had no clue, and neither was Harry.

Camille was shocked and a little annoyed after Gloria pushed her away.

Camille had a son and a daughter, but her family had been split up like this. And people had been making fun of her. In the end, if Gloria had done nothing wrong, none of this would have happened.

Camille walked over to her husband and son. Alger immediately reached out and pulled Camille to a corner. He lowered his voice and asked, "What happened? Why did you let her stay?"

Alger's words infuriated Camille. "I didn't know that Gloria would push me away."

"It's all because of you. You gave birth to that bitch. You brought the disaster to the Carter family," Alger said angrily.

"How can you say that?" Camille said aggrievedly.

"I need to run the Carter Group, and manage the pack. As Luna, you should help me. How can I not blame you for it? Why didn't you teach that bitch well?" Alger accused her.

Camille was furious. She argued, "Am I the one who taught Gloria? Gloria grew up with her grandpa. Even though she has made mistakes, how can you blame me?"

Harry was nearby and heard his parents blaming each other. He felt agitated and shouted, "Alright, stop arguing. Gloria lived with us for twenty years. She has done something wrong in the past, and she has paid the price. Now, she has changed. Besides, Daddy, you announced that you had expelled Gloria from Silver Spring Pack, didn't you?"

After Harry said that, Alger's and Camille's faces softened a little.

Harry furrowed his brows. He glanced at Patrick and said, "Now we have to think about what to do. Gloria is here. Is the auction still going as we planned?"

Alger snorted, "Why not?"

"But..." Harry hesitated.

"I know what you want to say, but when my father gave Moonlight Group to that bitch, he said that before she found her mate, she was not allowed to make a big mistake, or Moonlight Group would be ours. That bitch didn't cherish it. If killing someone is not considered a big mistake, what else can it be? Well, I will host the auction later. Since Moonlight Group is ours, we will deal with it as we like. Do we need to listen to her opinion? If she is that capable, she can buy Moonlight Group back."

Harry and Camille looked at Alger's back as he left. They didn't say anything else about Alger's unyielding attitude.

Harry glanced at Patrick again and was embarrassed.

He happened to meet Patrick's gaze. Harry was about to greet him when Patrick turned his gaze away. It was as if the glance just now was accidental.

Patrick asked Gloria in a low voice, "Aren't you going to see Alger and Camille?"

Gloria was silent. She did not say anything, but her clenched fists revealed her emotions.

Gloria hoped that her arrival would slightly affect Alger and Camille's decision. Gloria thought they would at least cancel today's auction for her sake.

But reality always went against one's wishes. This also happened to show the cruelty of her family hidden under their easy-going faces.

Not far from her, Alger was in the middle of a nice speech. After a while, he came to the point.

"Therefore, the Carter Family has decided to let go of Moonlight Group and to maximize its greatest value in the hands of the capable. This is also a decision after our family's discussion. Now, I announce that the bidding for Moonlight Group has officially started. The starting price is 10 million."

Upon hearing this, Gloria said with a face full of shock, "How's it possible? Moonlight Group had 100 million in its accounts back then. How can the starting price be 10 million?"

Patrick's expression didn't change. He wasn't surprised at all. When Gloria saw the cold face of the man beside her, she had a bad feeling.

She immediately looked at the expressions of the others around her. Suddenly, she smiled bitterly and thought, 'Everyone knows what's going to happen, except for me.'

She looked at Alger, who was hosting the auction. How could they simply drain Moonlight Group?

Even if they didn't care about her, they should at least show some respect to her late grandfather.

Gloria and her grandfather had put so much effort into this business. How could they ruin it so ruthlessly and selfishly?

"Have you never thought that it is because your incompetent father and brother splashed all the money that they have to auction Moonlight Group?"

In Patrick's eyes, Gloria rarely had her own opinions. But now she was shining with wisdom.

Gloria shook her head and said, "That's impossible. Alger is not good at developing a business, but he can keep it running. With his ability, Moonlight Group will never reach the point of being auctioned off at a starting price of 10 million."

At that point, the light in her eyes dimmed. She said, "The only explanation is that he drained Moonlight Group. And today, he has to squeeze its last bit of value."
