Chapter 6 Samantha and Mr. Shortstuff - Chapter 6

Sam stood there for a second in shock. 'Did he seriously apologize and ask me out on a real date?' She shook the thought from her head and replied back, "I'll consider it, if it fits in my schedule. Now if you will excuse me." She simply walked into the restroom, before she let her head spin out of control.

She came out of the restroom and Stan was no longer there. She didn't understand what she was feeling. Was it a relief? Was it a disappointment? She shook the thoughts from her head and started back to the table June was at. She was still a little lost in thought as she walked up, and didn't notice Stan was at the table talking to Stuart. She stopped in her tracks. 'What the FUCK!'

June popped up at the sight of Sam and said, "It's time to go dancing!"

Without thinking, Sam grabbed June's wrist and bolted to the door. She ran into Doug on the way out. "Where's the fire?" he joked.

"No where, just on our way to go dancing!" she hoped he would buy her excuse. "Will you tell Stuart to call me when he is ready to go?"

"Sure, honey. Are you sure you are ok?" He was giving her that look. The one where someone knows you are lying, but won't actually say it.

"Yep! Just don't want to hear about how I kept June from dancing the night away."

"Ok." He was not convinced. "I hope to see you when you come back." He pulled her into a hug and kissed her forehead.

"K. Bye!" She and June left the bar, and she breathed a sigh of relief. However, that relief was short lived, because as they started walking towards Jack's bar, someone yelled her name.

"Sam! Wait up!" It was Stan. Damn it. What did he want?

Sam reluctantly turned around. "What?"

"I was just hoping you were going to agree to that date before taking off."

"Sorry can't, I'm busy."

"But I didn't even say a date or time. Are you trying to brush me off?"

"Like I said before, if you really would have wanted a date you would have called."

"Well, I was going to, but..I..umm, lost your number." 'Yeah right,' she thought. He must have picked up on her thoughts and added ,"I left it in my pants when I threw it in the washer. And now I'm super embarrassed, because this girl I really like hates me."

June thought this was a perfect opportunity to intercede. "Well, we are going, dancing if you want a chance to redeem yourself." With that comment Sam gave her a nasty look. If Stan saw it, he didn't react.

"I'm out with some teammates, but if you want to give me your number again, I promise not to lose it this time." Sam rolled her eyes. 'Is he freaking serious!' She was just about to say no, when June pulled out her phone and wrote out Sam's number on a piece of paper. "Don't waste my girl's time now." June said with a smirk. Sam grabbed June's hand and stormed off in the direction of the next bar.

Although Sam had a temper, she usually could keep it in check. Unfortunately for June, that was not going to happen. As soon as they got in front of The Avenue, the only "club" Sam would go to, she let June have it. "What the Fuck is wrong with you June! You didn't actually believe that line about losing my number, did you? And if I don't want to give someone my number then they don't get it. End of Story!"

"I only wanted to help!" June pouted. "Whatever. Let's just go in." Sam opened the door, paid the cover and then went to get her second beer of the night. 'How much worse can this night get?'

June drug Sam out on the dance floor immediately, if one could call it dancing. The main reason Sam hated going here was because there wasn't any real dancing. Girls were grinding on guys, while guys felt up the intoxicated girls. Since it was only 10, there were not many people on the floor. The girls went up to the bar to get something to drink, with Sam only getting water. When they were done with their drinks they returned to the dance floor. Less than a song had played before some guys came up behind the girls. One of them grabbed Sam's hips. She pried the hands off her and kept dancing by herself. Unfortunately for the guy, he tried again. Sam grabbed his hands and spun around. "The next part of you that touches me - you will lose. Got it?"

The guy just smirked. "I didn't realize I'd picked a feisty one." While he wasn't bad looking, he definitely wasn't Sam's type. He had a heavy accent, which meant was here for school from a different country. Those guys always only had one thing on their mind...easy American girls. However, Sam was not one of those girls.

"Back off, Asshole." Sam was furious.

June knew Sam wasn't happy, and before Sam punched him...which she probably would...she interjected, "Sam, I think you should check to see if Stuart called yet."

As her brother's name registered in her ear, she realized that she needed to get out of here. "I need some air.' Sam didn't even wait for June to respond. She stormed out of the bar and took a deep breath. 'Why are guys such assholes?!?' She checked her phone as June came out of the door.

"Sam what the hell is wrong with you? He was cute." June had a secret mission to get Sam laid this summer, and it wasn't going well. "Seriously June?!? Just back the fuck off." Sam's rage was now back, knowing her friend was more concerned about how Sam had 'ruined' the night. "If you want to go back in and get assaulted by a bunch of pricks, be my guest. But I don't have to tolerate it. I'm going back and telling Stuart we are leaving. It's up to you if you want a ride back or not." And with that Sam stormed off back towards Hoops.
