"Queen Lila, it is Brielle causing trouble." Kira bowed slightly but deep down she hated the so-called queen.
Lila looked up at Brielle and popped the bubble that had settled on her lips. Immediately her eyes raked Brielle from head to toe, a laugh escaped her lips.
"Oh Brielle , did a clown tell you what to wear? It doesn't fit you. You look like someone who came to my doors to beg for my used clothes." Lila laughed. "I bet you borrowed the clothes because there's no way your mother could afford that after leaving your father...."
Out of nowhere, Brielle hit Lila hard. The gum in her mouth flew off and got stuck on Kira's hair. Lila was stunned as she held the cheek Brielle just hit.
"That was just a taste of it, Lila. Don't you ever talk about my family because yours isn't any better with your whore of a mother?" Brielle hissed making Lila furious.
"You bitch....."
"Don't even try it." A masculine voice drew everyone's attention and Lila's hand stopped mid-air. Everyone turned to look at the guy who stood not far from them, dressed all black with a hoodie on. An intoxicating smell filled Brielle 's senses and her wolf growled inside.
'Aidan, my actual mate.'
"And who do you think you are?" Lila scoffed and he pulled off his hoodie making everyone gasp.
"Impossible."
"It's him."
'Years back when we were in year 7, Aidan was the most popular kid in school. No one could ever forget him. He was the first year 7 student to win a championship in a basketball competition and to date, his picture is still in the school's hall Hallame. Fameas proud of him back then.'
"What is going on here kids?" The principal walked into the hallway and stood next to Aidan.
"Brielle just hit Lila Mrs Graves." One of Lila's minions reported.
"Is that true Miss Elsher?" The principal asked Brielle who was about to shrug when Aidan spoke up.
"She was just defending herself, Mrs Graves. Lila is the one at fault." Aidan replied and Brielle looked at him not surprised he would support her.
"Then Miss Lila you should apologize to Miss Elsher then." Mrs Graves said and Lila was stunned.
"I am Miss Royalty and I can't apologize to a peasant like her." Lila half yelled and Mrs Graves folded her arms across her chest and frowned.
"It's okay Miss Graves." Brielle sighed and Lila fumed.
"Well, since everyone is here now. I believe most of you recognized Aidan. He's back to school now and I hope you all will give him a warm welcome." Mrs Graves smiled sweetly before leaving.
"I'm still going to get you bitch." Lila frowned and walked away with her minions while Kira was busy whimpering over her hair which was messed up by the gum.
"Brie," Aidan called and she looked in his direction before he walked towards her. "It's been a while bestie."
"Oh yeah, you could still call me your bestie. Well, welcome young man Ford. How were your four years of being away huh?" Brielle frowned. Anger was visible in her expression and Aidan couldn't help but sigh.
"Look, Brie....." The sound of the bell shut him up which Brielle was thankful for because she knew so well that she was gonna break down right in front of him and cry.
She turned to leave immediately and Cassy followed her. "Are you alright Brielle ?"
"I'm fine."
"Are you going to basketball practice today? Mr Jones asked you to take today off classes because of your injury yesterday." Cassy said as they walked into the class.
"I'm gonna go watch still," Brielle mumbled as she sat down quietly.
"Class, welcome Aidan. Aidan welcome back to school. It's great to have you here. You can take your seat right next to Brielle ." The teacher said.
"Why doesn't he come to sit next to me Miss? I'm a better desk mate and I'm willing to share." Lila smirked.
"Well since you're willing to share. Cassy, I heard you don't like the seat you're in. Why not sit right next to Lila."
"No." Brielle , Cassy and Lila protested together.
"Let Cassy sit with me Miss and let him sit in her seat," Brielle suggested and the teacher nodded.
"Better." Lila exhaled as she sat comfortably on the seat meant to be shared by two students alone.
'I noticed something different about Aidan today or could it be that it has been there and I didn't notice all along? I'm here to fix my mistake so I mustn't take this anger too far. I remembered back then sitting next to Lila was where it all started.'
"Miss Elsher what was the last word I said?" The teacher asked and Brielle coughed.
"I'm so sorry ma'am, I zoned out," Brielle replied truthfully.
"Be careful next time Miss Elsher or I won't have any choice but to kick you out of my class."
"I'm so sorry."
"So class before the end of this week, we'll be having tests. I won't tell you the exact day but be prepared."
"Have you jotted all the points she said, Cassy?" Brielle asked.
"Yes. I'll pass them to you after classes." Cassy replied with her eyes focused on the board.
"Thanks." Brielle sighed.
As soon as the bell rang for sports, the students returned to their locker rooms to change. Brielle had changed her sporting wear earlier to show her new style of not being a nerd again.
"After what happened yesterday I hoped you would quit basketball Brielle . You should expect another hit from me today." Darius laughed mockingly at her.
"At least I wasn't the one who got slapped across the face." Brielle hissed and Darius was about to say another word when he stopped looking at Aidan who was gazing at him fiercely. He knew what to do and he immediately walked away. "What do you want Aidan?"
"You didn't even need to turn to know I was there. Could it be that you were expecting me....."
"Cut it out, Aidan. It's not going to work." Brielle started walking away but he caught up to her and stood in front of her.
"I know you're mad at me Brie but it isn't my fault! I wanted to say goodbye but I couldn't. My mum took my phones away and I didn't have access to the internet for months. Any time I tried to reach you, my mum stopped me. You wouldn't even let me explain myself, would you?" Aidan explained but she remained unmoved as she walked towards the basketball field. "What will I do for you to believe I would have contacted you if I had the chance?"
Brielle stopped in her tracks and turned to look at him. She continued staring at him till she put her hair up in a bun and a smirk appeared on her lips.
"You want to know what right?" She raised a brow and he nodded. She looked past him and another smirk formed on her face before she walked away without saying another word.
"Brie?!"
"Everyone please settle down. I have a few announcements to make." Started Mrs Graves as the hall full of students became calm with a few whispers still going around.
"As you all know it is time we start looking for our new Miss royalty. Forms are now out and this year it is only six people who are eligible and there's going to be a change of system this year as we'll also be picking a King and the king must be the Queen's boyfriend."
A cacophony of voices was raised in the hall prompting Mrs Graves to get their attention.
"Attention please." She yelled into the mic.
"We'll be sending forms to six people who want to contest by the end of next week. If you're interested please step forward and pick a card."
Most of the popular female students in Year 12 stood up and walked to the card machine. Brielle stood up as well, causing the hall to lose its earlier vigour and become silent.
"Don't tell me you'll be going for Miss Royalty Brielle ?" Kira said in a mocking tone and Brielle snorted.
"Looks like the gum you had stuck in your oh-so-beautiful hair this morning wasn't enough for you," Brielle replied before picking up her card.
"I didn't expect Miss Elsher to participate this year." Mrs Graves smiled at Brielle who just forced a smile back. As she walked back to her seat, Brielle kept a straight face as she ignored the countless whispers around her.
"How the hell will she get a boyfriend?"
"No one would want to date her, you know."
"Ok, that's all for now. Return to your classes." Said Mrs. Graves that had students filing out of the hall and into the different corridors that led to their classrooms.
"Brie, you want to go for that?" Aidan called after her as she walked out of the hall with Cassy who was still speechless at her friend's sudden boldness.
"What? Is it a taboo not to go for it?" Brielle raised her right eyebrow and he sighed.
"Where will you get yourself a boyfriend?" He asked.
"Don't tell me you're worried right now Aidan. It's just been three days since you came back and you think I'm going to fall for your tricks?! Nah, not me!" Brielle rolled her eyes.
"I'm just trying to show you I really wouldn't leave without saying goodbye. You're my best friend Brie. The only girl in this world who understands me. It hurts knowing that you are mad at me. I'm trying to fix my mistakes." Aidan pleaded and Brielle looked up at him with pursed lips.
'In the past, After I rejected him, Lila was able to get to him before the contest and make him date her forcefully.'
"I'll think about it, Aidan." She replied and a sigh escaped his lips.
"Mum asked about you, so why don't you come to see her one of these days? Besides, you're like a son to her."
"I'll try to visit tomorrow. You still stay at your place right?" Aidan asked with a smile on his face.
"Yes we do," Brielle replied as she walked away. Aidan watched her walk away with a smile on his face which got interrupted by a feminine cough.
"Aidan," Lila called.
"Yes? How may I help you?" He raised his brows, shoving his hand in his pocket as his expression turned frosty clearly showing dislike.
"You can put down the dangerous aura and be nicer. You only act nice towards Brielle and that seems unfair." Lila pouted, making Aidan snort. "You've changed Aidan."
"And why do you care?" He raised his eyebrows and she chuckled.
"Come on Aidan. Alright, let's go out tomorrow. I'm going to try this new restaurant that opened in the mall...."
"I'm occupied." Aidan walked away and Lila was shocked at how she treated him.
"Argh. You just wait Aidan. I'm going to get you."
"So now that you're going for Miss Royalty and you need a boyfriend, who will your boyfriend be?" Before Brielle could answer, she stopped in her tracks before could bump into the individual standing before her with a smirk on his face.
Disgust shone on Brielle 's face as she looked up at the person blocking her path.
"I'm sorry for my sudden appearance, Brielle ." His thick and bold voice even made her more disgusted but not because the voice was unpleasant, because it was the person she could kill right on that spot if she isn't grabbing on to the last thread of self-control in her.
"What do you want Robert?" She asked looking at his face to show him how disgusted she is.
"Haha. No hard feelings Brielle . I just want to talk to you." He smirked as he shoved his right hand into his pocket.
"And what might that be about?" She frowned.
"Well about your Miss royalty competition. You know Brielle , you've always been one of the girls I admire even if you're a nerd. I still see the beauty in you...."
'I hate this repetition of lines. He said the same thing to me back then and I blindly fell for it.'
"So what are you insinuating?" Brielle raised her brows with her index finger on her cheek and a slight tilt of her head.
"Be my girlfriend Brielle . I promise to show you what true love is. Aidan doesn't deserve your love, he doesn't. I do. I'll make you a queen..."
"Sigh. I usually wonder if all boys with the same social status as you are stupid but I see there are the stupid ones and the smart ones and unfortunately, you fall under the stupid ones." Brielle smirked looking at Robert's shocked expression.
"Yes, I'm a queen. There's no need for you to make me one again. Cassy let's go. We need to finish our assignments before leaving school today."
"You damn..... I'll make you pay for this. Trust me."
