Chapter 7 Outing

The next day...

Saria walked through the corridors of the palace with her basket, she was smiling nonstop and suddenly three maids appeared before her. She stepped back quickly, looking at the maids who were always bullying her because she was the princess Avila's maid.

"What do you want now?." She asked quickly.

"You must be happy that princess Avila is now the keeper of the staff."

The others folded their arms as they glared at Saria.

Saria scoffed, "Nymph! Why won't I? It's not my fault that the staff didn't choose your princess."

All of them gasped, and the middle one who was princess Ivy's maid came further, "So she's no more your princess? don't worry, no one would choose Princess Avila because she's blind. No one wants a blind princess anyway." She added, chuckling mockingly.

She didn't know when a slap from Saria landed across her cheek.

"Saria.." Princess Avila called and all of them turned. Quickly they went down on their knees.

"What's going on here?." Princess Ivy asked, coming from the other side.

The maids looked among themselves.

"Lici.." Ivy called her maid.

"My princess. I didn't do anything and she slapped me."

Princess Avila knew that they had always bullied Saria for a long time now, so for them to make Saria slap her meant they must have overstepped their boundaries.

"Saria, tell me," Avila asked calmly,

"My princess. I was on my way to the kitchen when Princess Ivy's maids stopped in front of me. They said no one would choose a blind princess to be on the throne." Saria narrated and Lici interrupted immediately.

"That's absurd! She's lying, my princess."

"Saria never lies to me," Avila stated and Lici bit her lower lip. Avila came closer, tapping her stick as she walked.

"And Saria, what did I teach you about self-control?."

Princess Ivy just stood looking but didn't say a word. She watched as Avila judged the matter.

"I'm sorry my princess." Saria apologized.

"No. You didn't slap me, did you?." Avila asked.

Saria looked at Lici, "I'm sorry, Lici."

"Good. Now everyone go back to your work." Avila dismissed them, and they stood up and walked away quickly.

Princess Ivy smiled and walked to stand with Avila, "Sister, I was heading to see you, why don't we grab some tea at the lounge?."

Avila declined quickly, "I'm sorry. I was heading outside the palace."

"Let's go together, I need some fresh air," Ivy said and chuckled, she quickly frowned, not knowing Avila saw her, and Avila only smiled at her.

They reached the palace gate, the guards had two trucks filled with bags. When they saw the princesses, the head rushed to them and bowed, "Good morning, my princesses."

"What are these for?." Ivy asked.

"Oh, I'm going to visit the poor, these are for them," Avila answered happily. It's been a long time since she did such a thing, and she was very happy she did so freely now.

"That's nice," Ivy said dryly, if not for her throne which Avila has, she wouldn't be here, gosh!

"The carriage is waiting, princesses." The guard pointed at the royal carriage and they walked towards it, they sat down inside while Diana hopped on a horse.

"You've never visited that part of the kingdom, have you?." Avila asked.

"Thanks to you, sister. I'll be able to see how the people live outside the palace." Ivy answered with a smile.

The king walked into the priestess's chamber, and everyone present stood up and bowed immediately. He looked around but didn't see the priestess.

"Your majesty." The priestess said, coming from her inner chamber. She looked at the maidens and gave them a sigh to leave, all of them left and closed the door.

"What brings you here, my king?."

"What was the meaning of that, Irani?." He asked with an expressionless look on.

"I don't understand, my king." The priestess answered.

"You and I know what I'm talking about, don't make me repeat myself."

"My king.." She said but stopped midway and looked up.

"You vowed not to speak to me," Irani said coldly.

The king scoffed, "Is that to make me visit you?."

"King Williams, we cut all ties between us when you sat on the throne. Remember, the throne wasn't yours, but you sat down there with my help."

King Williams flared up quickly, "Shut up. We helped ourselves. You got what you wanted with my help, how dare you betray me at the last minute?."

"You betrayed me first, my king. I asked you to do one thing which you did not. Now my sins are catching up to me because of you. My king, Mena, was my best friend, she wasn't supposed to suffer till she died."

He scoffed, "What are you saying?, you first betrayed me? You know how I loved Mena and you wanted to escape her through the secret passage. This wasn't what we talked about, was it?." He yelled and she clamped her mouth shut.

"Listen, you'll stop being a priestess of my kingdom, I promise you that."

"How are you going to do that when the people trust me more than you, now?"

He raised his brows, "I always have my ways, Irani." He walked out after that.

The princesses reached and the carriage was opened. The slaves were all standing as they got down with the help of the guards.

When they saw Avila, they were all happy. They all bowed to her, the kids running to hug her, and the women and men all happy to welcome her.

"We've missed you, princess Avila." An old woman said to her and looked at princess Ivy who was looking so displeasing at the surroundings. She didn't know there was such a place as that in the kingdom.

Diana came to stand with her, "Are you okay, my princess?." She asked.

"I can't believe I'm here, Diana. I feel like vomiting." She whispered, frowning her face.

"Don't worry, I can tell Avila that you are feeling sick." She said and tried leaving but was stopped by Diana.

"Not now. I want to watch this. Avila is getting interesting every day." She said, rubbing her hands together.

Avila helped the guards serve rice to the people with smiles on her face. Suddenly they heard a shout at the back and everyone turned. Ivy grabbed a child's arm angrily, "How dare you to touch me with those filthy hands of yours?."
