Chapter 4 The New Alpha

CHAPTER 4: The New Alpha

My father immediately left as soon as the man got inside the room. He want to give us a privacy to talk... which I don't think is very needed right now.

I just felt more awkward as seconds goes by after my father have left.

"How are you feeling, Ruthie?" I forced myself not to roll my eyes when I heard his corny nickname for me again. I don't know why he kept on calling me that, but one thing's for sure... I don't like it. At all.

His question doesn't even sound like a question to me. It sounds more like a statement. He doesn't even look like he was curious or concern about my situation or my well being here. He looked plain, cold, and emotionless as he stared at me closely. He isn't showing any emotions at all.

Well, I am not expecting him to be extremely worried or concern, but he could at least show some emotion. A little concern won't hurt him, right? But why does it look like it was so hard for him to show such emotion?

I let out a sigh before looking away. "I'm fine. Thank you very much for asking-"

"That's good, because I have so many things to discuss with you according to what happened in this pack." My eyebrows furrowed while watching him pulled a chair near my bed before sitting there, facing me. He then crossed his arms, staring at me again with his cold emerald green eyes... and I would be probably lying if I'll say that I am not bothered nor intimidated with the way he stare at me, because I am. I feel nervous, scared, and intimidated... but I have to keep myself together before I'll lose my mind.

He raised his right brow when he caught me staring at him intently. He still look so cold and unbothered, far more different from what I am feeling right now.

And I wonder what are we going to talk about right now?

Although, I am curious about what we're going to talk about, I stayed still and quite, urging him to continue speaking, and he did.

"I heard that the previous Alpha of Blue Moon Pack, Preston, is your boyfriend."

"Was." I corrected, because it was the truth. Preston and I have long ended. I understand that he will really find his mate one way or another. The woman whom he'll spend the rest of his life with. I understand that our relationship was temporary. The hurt and betrayal that I felt was only for the whole pack. He ran away with his mate after endangering the pack that has been our home ever since, of course, it was only normal for me to feel that way.

The Alpha's eyes narrowed at me as he raised his right eyebrow again like he didn't believe me at all.

I can't help but to scoff.

"Well, whatever is your relationship with him, friends or acquaintance, I don't care. Just answer me." His eyes darkened, eyes turning cruel as he stared at me intently. I couldn't help but to gulp my own saliva. "Where do you think is the asshole right now? Spill if you have any ideas of where he might be residing at this moment."

I know that he only wants nothing but an information from me, so he could capture Preston. I know very well that he only thinks about the welfare of the pack that he is now leading... but then, I couldn't help but to feel angry and frustrated. I am angry at him for making me feel like I am not worth of the trust. I am frustrated at him for doubting me like this.

Although, it might be normal for Alphas to question someone who's part of the pack for too long, but wasn't there when the pack was attacked. I know that he'll be suspicious with that. But it irritates me to the bones that he's already assuming that I know where Preston is just because he was my ex boyfriend.

Do I look like someone who's going to hide and defend a criminal?

I closed my eyes tightly. "I don't have any idea... at all."

I managed to get away with the new Alpha's questions after I pretended that my head hurts from all his interrogation. He still looks so doubtful when he left my room, and it even made me more angry that I couldn't forget his accusing eyes that was directly thrown at me.

I hate him.

And I refuse to cower under his power. I refuse to accept him as the new Alpha of this pack. He's too ruthless to lead us... and he'll never be my Alpha.

Never.

I decided to visit my mother and my younger brother, Randall, in their room. Father decided to just put them together inside a one room, so it'll be easier for us to watch over them while they're under observation.

The pack doctor said that everything is going fine with my mother and my younger brother, and one of these days, they might both wake up which I am very thankful of. Once mother and Randall wokes up, we might be leaving the pack and just live in the valley. That's my father's initial plan.

After I stayed there for an hour, I decided to go to where our cabin is. Father said that almost half of the cabins where destroyed after what happened, and some of the pack members built some tents for them to temporarily sleep in while the cabins are still in the process of repairing.

I wasn't that hopeful anymore that our cabin will still be there. I already expected the worst of it, but I was kinda surprised when I saw it still standing proud. Although, there were some scratches of our house, but it was still doing fine. It only needs a little renovation on the roof, but everything's good.

I immediately got inside and decided to look for foods to cook. I'm going to bring some for my father since he mentioned awhile ago that he hasn't been eating a good food for days yet.

I cooked and ate right after I finished cooking. I decided to shower first before going back to the pack hospital.

Dad was there when I arrived, but I didn't expect to see the new Alpha again inside the room. And he's with the guy who drove us back here.

It seems like they all were having a serious talk since the new Alpha looks so coldly serious while facing my father, and father was facing him too.

I smiled at the guy when I saw him. He smiled too... but I can see that he was hesitant to do that at first. He even glanced at the stoic man beside him like he was asking if it was fine for him to smile at me too.

"Hi. It's nice to see you again. How are you?" I asked.

He looked at me shyly, rubbing his nape. "Uhm, I think I should really be the one to ask you that. I mean you're the one who fainted after you hit your forehead after I hot the break. It was my fault, and for that, I wanted to sincerely apologize."

I awkwardly laughed."It's fine. That's not a big deal, really. I believe, we all make mistakes so... by the way, you might want to eat for lunch. I brought a lot of foods for my father-"

"No. Thank you very much for the offer, Ruthie, but I believe, Jason is now full, so he couldn't take any foods from you now." The brute sarcastically said. I looked at Jason and noticed that he has an awkward smile on his lips, but when he noticed that I was looking, he immediately pulled a wide smile for me.

Huh?

I shrugged and turned to my father who was silently watching everything.

"You have to eat your lunch now, father. It's getting late. I've cooked you food since you've mentioned that you haven't eaten a good meal these past few days. It's not the best as Mom's cooking, but it's edible."

Father shook his head and smiled at me. "I already ate, Zoriana. You might as well want to offer the food to the Alpha instead."

Huh?!

Why would I even do that?!

Before I could even say anything, I heard the brute's fake cough.

"Thank you very much, Randolph. I'm very famished-"

"And you said you're already full?!" I exclaimed, raising my right brow to emphasize.

His face darkened. "I said, it was Jason who's already full, not me."
