Chapter 2 Crescent orb

The screams were loudest in the south. They were like loud bells ringing in his ears, reminding him how far he had come. He tossed and turned among the sheets, hoping to get rid of them.

He had hoped it was a feeling he would never have to experience. He remembered that day vividly, and now he was standing in the field, familiar with his father's screams, and ran toward him instinctively. He pulled him into his arms without warning as he watched him roll his eyes.

"Father," he called desperately.

He watched him cough lightly, then leaned forward, and stared at him with a gloomy look.

"It's your fault. You did this," he whispered to him, reaching out instinctively to wrap his arms around him. "No Father. It was a mistake, I swear. I did not do it on purpose. " he said grumpily.

But the only words that came out of his mouth were a harsh frown. He could hear faint voices in the distance, but they sounded like muffled noises. He watched helplessly as his father turned into a wolf, raised his sharp claws without warning, and pierced his chest.

"You're not worthy of love." He spat, and then everything went blank.

...

Xavier jerked himself up from the bed, his heart beating fast in his chest. It took him a moment to clear his vision so he could see better.

He felt a warm hand on his chest, and when she touched the scar on his chest, he flinched slightly. "No." He hissed, watching Scarlet seem worried at first before pulling away.

"Another dream?" she whispered to him, but she knew exactly what that meant. Sighing in frustration, he got up from the bed and ran his hands through his hair.

"The dreams are back. Stronger than ever. You should let them go." He hissed at her. He sighed and watched her get up from the bed, the small bump on her belly became visible in the moonlight.

He didn't move when she came and put her arms around his back. She buried her head in his back and he felt his muscles relax slowly.

"I'm sorry," he murmured. She hummed to him. "I know you are. We just have to try something else," she said firmly.

He turned to look at her, and she noticed the vulnerability in his eyes. "I don't know how much longer I can do it. Maybe it's not right," he said to her in a slightly hesitant tone.

She pulled him onto the bed and forced him to the floor. when she sat on his lap. "You know I'll only do what's best for you," she said, pressing her palm to his temple.

"Close your eyes now and let me help you forget." She said to him, and he snorted as she asked.

He felt a wave of energy flow through his body. "What would I do without you?" He felt his mood lighten and said to her softly.

She smirked knowingly at him before she muttered to himself when he was under her influence. "You're going to lose your partner and your best friend. And I'm not going to get what I want.

One of Xavier's weaknesses is that he is always quick to trust those around him. He doesn't realize it yet, but in the end, what he thinks will make him strong again is exactly what cripples him.

...

She's heart beat fast in her chest as she walked through the thick foliage. She hugged her schoolbag tightly to her chest, for fear that it would disappear as soon as she let go.

Nora had searched so hard and risked so much to find the new moon that it slipped through her fingers. When Nora finally made it through the woods, she was relieved.

Nora saw the thatched hut with cracked walls from a distance, and she felt relieved when she saw the blue light of the lantern outside the door for the first time that day.

Hold on, dad.

she thought, she cast a spell to extinguish the lights. This is our silent way of communicating. Blue means he's home and safe, green means the house is safe and red...well, you don't want to know what red means.

When Nora heard the creak, she slowly pushed the door open. Nora scanned the room and saw the pale figure of her father lying on the mattress in the corner. She rushed over and crouched beside him.

"Nara," he said in a trembling voice, reaching out and taking mine. "I'm glad you made it before it was too late," he said gruffly. When Nora opened the backpack to retrieve the orb, she pulled the backpack off her body. "Father, save your energy, I have the Crescent Orb, I will heal you, and everything will be fine." She said to him desperately.

But he shook his head at Nora in return. "That daughter is no longer needed. I'm too late. I want you to use it to save yourself and give it to Zhuoran in exchange for your safety." He whispered.

"What? What are you talking about? You need this. Who's here?" Nora asked desperately, trying to hand him the orb. When my father took her hand, he shook his head and pushed it back to me.

"Open the door. By Zhuoran's order!!" The men shouted from behind the door. Dad's eyes glowed blue, and Nora watched as a tear rolled down his cheek. "You are my greatest treasure. The only regret is that I can no longer protect you. Many enemies will come to you in the future. You must be strong and protect your talent." He spoke, and Nora found herself struggling to talk as she heard the loud slamming of the front door.

Nora turned to it, but Dad spoke again before she could say anything. "Don't be afraid of them." Then he lifted his trembling hand to Nora's shoulder, and I watched it glow. She felt my whole body start to tremble as it glowed bright blue.

I could hear the man knocking on the door, and Nora watched helplessly as Dad's body slumped onto the mattress as the fence fell from around the cabin.

"You will always be my moon and stars." These were the last words my father said before he left. Everything happened quickly after that, as those men broke through the door and turned Nora's life upside down.
