Chapter 7 You chose a thief to be your wife

CHAPTER SEVEN

"Calm the fuck down, Olivia," he said, holding his hands up in surrender. "It's just me.You did not have to scream your head off,"

"You could have at least knocked." I said with an edge to my voice.

"This is my house. Of course I wouldn't knock." He said casually.

"I could have been naked!"

"So what? Nothing I haven't seen before."

"That's wonderful," I said,my voice dripping with sarcasm."By the way, I was wondering why you didn't welcome me properly when I arrived. You were busy or something?" I asked, trying to keep my tone neutral.

He let out a sigh."I am a very busy person,Olivia."

"The busiest man in the world. When exactly are we to get married by the way? Or at least, the engagement first of all."

Ashton's expression changed, and he looked a little hesitant. "Well, Olivia, before we can talk about marriage, I need to introduce you to someone," he said, his voice trailing off.

"Who do you need to introduce me to?" I asked.

He paused for a moment before answering. "My mother. But first, I need to take down that video of you from the internet. It wouldn't be a good look for us if people found out about it," he said, his voice serious.

"Yeah right. Can I have my shower now?"

He was silent and stepped fully into the bathroom walking towards me.

He closed the space between us and was towering over me. I was almost forgetting how to breathe properly.

He was gazing down at me and I was slowly getting lost in his eyes. He had to take a step back for real.

"What do you want?" I had to ask.

"You better look your best. And get ready in thirty minutes because my sister,Valerie is coming over and you would join us for dinner."

And with that,he left just as silently as he had arrived, and I was left alone in the bathroom. So that was what he couldn't say standing over there at the door?

I took a deep breath and tried to regain my composure.

The bathroom was really spacious and I turned on the tap, and the water started to fill the tub. I added some lavender oil to the water, and soon the room was filled with its soothing scent.

As I stepped into the tub, I felt the warmth of the water enveloping my body. I sank deeper into the tub, letting the water rise up to my chin. The water was hot, but not scalding, and it felt incredibly relaxing.

The bath tub was a deep, white porcelain tub, with clawed feet that added a touch of elegance to the room. The tub was surrounded by marble tiles, which were cool to the touch. The walls were painted in a pale shade of blue, which complemented the warm glow of the setting sun.

I closed my eyes and let the water work its magic. I felt my muscles relax, and my mind start to unwind. The lavender oil helped to calm my senses, and soon I felt completely at ease.

I know he said to look my best but I settled for a simple flared dress because I didn't really have the strength.

Afterwards, I went downstairs, not being able to believe my eyes as I walked into the dining room. The table was filled with an array of delicious delicacies that I had never seen before. There were plates of succulent lobster, perfectly cooked steak, roasted vegetables, and fluffy mashed potatoes. The sweet aroma of freshly baked bread wafted through the air, making my mouth water.

The dining room was elegantly decorated, with soft lighting and fresh flowers on the table.

I took a seat at the table, admiring the view from the large windows. The sun was setting, casting a warm orange glow over the city. I could see the lights of the skyscrapers twinkling in the distance.

Ashton walked in, looking handsome in a simple black Tee and jeans. It looked weird seeing him dress so casually but even in that, he looked sexy.

He took a seat adjacent to me while Emily poured me a glass of wine.

"The food looks amazing," I commented, taking a sip of the wine. It was rich and full-bodied, with a hint of oak.

"You can eat all you can but only when Valerie arrives," he said while he looked at his watch. He had to be waiting for his sister to show up.

"So I can't eat yet?"

"No,Olivia, you cannot," he said a little sharply.

Just then, the doorbell rang. Ashton signaled to Sarah standing by to answer it, and I heard her greeting someone.

A few moments later, Ashton's sister,Valerie walked into the dining room. She was stunning, with long curly blonde hair, green eyes just like Ashton's and perfectly applied makeup. She was wearing a form-fitting black dress that looked absolutely great on her and high heels that clicked on the tiled floors.

Valerie's expression was cold and distant as she walked up to the table. "Hello, Ashton," she said, her voice clipped.

"Valerie, this is Olivia," Ashton said, introducing us.

Valerie gave me a quick once-over, her eyes lingering on my clothes. I suddenly felt self-conscious in my simple dress and flats.

"So, you're the girl Ashton has been raving about," Valerie said, her tone mocking.

I tried to smile, hoping to ease the tension. "Nice to meet you, Valerie," I said, extending my hand.

Valerie didn't take my hand. "Hmm, I'll reserve judgment until I see what you're capable of," she said, her voice dripping with condescension.

Okay. This bitch was rude and cold.

Ashton tried to intervene. "Valerie, you just got here. At least, take a seat first."

Valerie rolled her eyes and grabbed a chair to sit on. "So have you seen mother yet?"

"Yes.But not with Olivia yet," Ashton answered and then chewed on his steak.

"Out of everyone in the world, you chose a thief who is also a cheap slut to be your wife? Amazing,"

Valerie's words hung in the air, and I felt myself shrinking under her disdainful gaze. I tried to find the right words to respond, but before I could, Ashton spoke up.

"Valerie, that's enough," he said firmly. "Ava is my guest and you will treat her with respect."

She huffed and rolled her eyes, but didn't say anything else. The rest of the dinner was awkward, with Valerie making snide comments under her breath and shooting me dirty looks when she thought Ashton and I was not looking.

And then suddenly, Ashton's phone rang.

I couldn't hear the voice on the other end, but his expression grew increasingly unsettled as the conversation continued. He asked, "What kind of problem?"

My curiosity piqued, and I looked up at him, wondering what was going on. Ashton's eyes met mine briefly before he ended the call and placed the phone back on the table.

He sighed deeply and rubbed his forehead, looking worried. I could feel the tension in the room thickening as we waited for him to explain.
