Chapter 3 The New Transferee

3

"Even if I'm late several times, I'm still the owner's son of the company." This guy is really crazy. Tristan has this hidden arrogance that only his close friends know. So, I agreed to let him drive me to school because I know he won't stop bothering me until I agree to what he wants.

"Well, aren't you impressive! That's why I'm giving in. But don't blame me if your dad scolds you, okay?" I raised an eyebrow as I said this. But he just gave me a sly smile and ignored my remark. How rude!

"Dad won't get mad. It's just Mom. And I'm quite charming when it comes to Dad, you know, the only handsome child he has with Mom." Tristan said with a grin, running his fingers through his handsome face. I laughed at him again and playfully hit him with the book I was carrying. But he quickly dodged it and ran behind his car to hide. "You're just like a fool, Tristan."

"Come on, let's go! Because the wind might catch up to us here, thanks to your talkativeness." I said while slowly running my fingers through his nice hair. Then he opened the door of his car for me.

Shit! I'm late, and Dad will scold me again. I remembered what Dad told me.

"Get yourself together in handling our company, Max. Don't just spend your time having fun and drinking with your friends. First, think about how to run our company properly. Or else, I'm going to cut all your cards and throw away all your cars. You understand?"

Sigh! That's why I scratched my head before going to the kitchen to eat, and my eyes unintentionally searched for that girl.

"Sir Max, are you looking for Miss Kath?" I heard Manang ask me, so I shifted my gaze to Kath's car, which our driver was returning to the garage.

"No! And why should I, Manang? Is her car broken?" I asked her nonchalantly. She immediately looked at me and said that her friend had dropped her off.

"No, Sir Max. Your friend and Kath's friend dropped her off." I raised my eyebrows when I heard what she said and quickly asked her who our friend was that dropped off that girl.

"Friend? Who do you mean, Manang?" I asked her, still raising my eyebrows. While I put rice on my plate.

"It's Tristan, sir." She replied briefly, and I clenched my hands under the table, while Manang was confusedly looking at me, probably because of the expression on my face.

"That bastard!"

"What did you say, Sir?" She asked, and I snapped out of my thoughts about Tristan.

"Nothing, Manang. Please tell Manong to clean my car, and maybe I'll just go to work tomorrow." I said with no enthusiasm and immediately left for my room.

Max pov

A flirtatious girl, does she really have no standards? Does she really want to flirt with my friend Tristan too? That flirtatious girl will definitely get it from me when she comes home later.

"How about that, I'm inside now? Thank you." I just nodded, so I got out of his car. Then I stopped outside, near the window of his car, where Tristan opened the window.

"You're welcome, Kath." He said briefly, and he was about to start his car again. And because I'm curious and tend to ask questions, he quickly turned off the engine to listen to me.

"By the way, Tristan, when is she coming back?" I'm asking about her girlfriend, Summer, who is also my friend before I met Kira. I was surprised because Tristan's smile widened when I asked him about Summer. You know, he really loves her. And he's afraid of her.

"Next month." Tristan said with a big smile, and I realized that he was so happy when I asked him about Summer because she's coming back soon.

"That's why our smiles are so wide right now!" Actually, I also really miss Summer. You know, she always tells Tristan to watch over me because you know the state of our relationship, right? That's why they are both so overprotective of me.

"Bye Kath, take care." Tristan bid farewell, still sitting inside his car. And when he was about to close the window of his car, I suddenly teased him.

"You take care too, Max! I mean, Tristan." That's why he burst into laughter when I called him by Max's name.

Kath's pov

Tristan has left, and now I'm walking towards our classroom. When I suddenly heard people whispering in every hallway I passed.

"Oh my gosh! We have a new transfer student." Sigh! That's the only thing they're busy talking about here. It would have been better if they were discussing our subjects in school. But no. So, I quickly opened the door to our classroom to find a seat because I've been tired of walking since earlier. The stairs I climbed were also quite high just to reach our classroom. After all, our school elevators are still under renovation.

"Kathlia Montalba! You're late again," our professor said, raising her eyebrows at me. All my classmates inside the room looked at me, and I looked at the professor seriously to apologize.

"I'm sorry, Prof." That's all I could say, and she nodded. So, I quickly went to my seat. It's really embarrassing, which made me cover my face with a book, making it look like I'm just reading.

"Okay class, listen to me. I'm sure you all know that we have a new transfer student." Our professor said seriously, looking at each of us.

"Yes, Prof." We all said together as she walked to the center of the room and suddenly stopped at a seat where the new transfer student was sitting.

"Okay, you can now introduce yourself to us, Mr. handsome." Did she just say handsome? Is our new classmate good-looking? I jumped in my seat because of Prof's exclamation.

"What's up with that face, Kathlia?" She raised an eyebrow while looking at me from head to toe. As if she's assessing me for a pageant, deciding if I'll pass or not.
