Dianne wanted to explain to Carina that she has mistaken her for someone else but she wasn't ready to listen. Dianne looked up the stair and let out a soft sigh and walked up. She came to the open room and saw Mari shivering vigorously and Mari looked bewildered as he saw her. Dianne rushed to his side.
"Wha...... t are you do...... ing here? Do you al... so work as a nur.... se?" He stuttered to ask.
"No! I came to see you but your mom mistook me for the nurse. Why do you have such a high temperature?" She asked as she placed her palm on his forehead but before he could reply, Rina walked into the room.
"How is he feeling now, nurse?" She asked and Dianne stood up.
"I'm not a nurse, ma. You mistook me for one" she said
"Oh! So who are you then?"
"I'm not sure about that question as well but I'm Dianne by name and I came to check up.on Mari"
"What's the relationship between you two?"
"Mom, can you please stop bugging her with questions?" Mari grunted in pains as he spoke.
"No, it's fine. I'm a friend of his, we met yesterday at work"
"Oh......" The knocks on the door interrupted Rina.
"I'll go get it, you can stay with him" Dianne said with a smile and retreated from the room
"She is pretty!." Rina commented as she watched Dianne walk away and looked at Mari for a response to her compliment
"I don't even know how she got my address so don't think anything weird" Mari said and looked out the window.
Few minutes later, Dianne came back with the nurse and she administered some drugs to him.
"It's nothing serious, ma'am. Just make sure he takes his medications as prescribed" the middle aged lady said in a cracky voice.
"Sure! Thank you for coming"
"I'll take my leave now" The lady said and Dianne walked her back to the door.
"I'll go make you something to eat" Rina said after Dianne returned to the room and she retreated from the room.
Omari tried to get up and Dianne was quick to help him up, "Easy, don't hurt yourself" Her soothing voice warmed Mari's heart
"Thanks" He said after he had leaned against the bed's furniture.
"You're welcome" She mumbled and shyly smiled.
"So how did you get my address and why rid you come looking for me?" His voice had become more calm and clearer now
"I got it from your document in the office and I'm sorry I had to do that without your permission. I came because of what happened yesterday, I just want you to know that I didn't mean to ruin your big day"
"It's nothing, Dianne and you didn't ruin anything, in fact, I would be seeing you at work on Monday" He forced a smile through the pains.
"Are you for real? You got the job?" She asked in excitement but that look did not last long on her face as she suddenly went gloomy.
"What's wrong, Dianne?"
"It's nothing, I'm fine"
"No, you can't be fine this way. Talk to me, please"
"I'm serious, I'm fine. It's nothing to worry about" She lifted her head high and faked a smile.
"I can tell when you're faking it or not so it would be best if you tell me what is wrong"
"I envy you!" She said at a fast pace and looked away
Omari was surprised, happy and in doubt as to why she envies him, "Why is that, Dianne?"
"I've always wanted to work there as a director but I can't because of of level of education"
"So you would rather settle for less and become a server?" He teased jokingly.
"No!" She snapped and glanced glared at him.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to raise my voice."
"It's fine. I love your company already but what would you say if I volunteer to take care of your education?" He asked and Dianne's eyes glistened with tears that rolled down freely.
"Is this a kind of joke to you?"
"No, why would I joke with something as important as you? I'm being serious here" he said and Dianne leaned in to hug him.
"I would be most grateful" she whispered in his ear.
"You can apply while still in school, right? You should do that" He said after they disengaged from the hug and she nodded.
Carina walked in with a tray and Dianne quickly moved back and wiped her tears.
"Is anything wrong? Did he make you cry?" Rina asked as she noticed the tears in Dianne's eyes.
"It's just dust, ma'am" She said with a big smile.
"I'll leave you two then. Make sure he take his meds"
"Sure, ma'am" Dianne said and watched Rina retreat from the room.
"Your mom is nice" She said and Mari just hummed.
Dianne's eyes fell on the picture on the table, "She is so adorable" She compliment and Mari tailed her eyes to the picture.
"We lost them, she and my dad"
"I'm sorry" She smacked her lips in regret and Mari laughed as he saw her face.
"They are not dead, they went missing so don't make a face like that" He smiled and continued eating.
"Any attempt to find them?"
"Sure, we have been looking for them since five years ago"
"Five year ago?" She asked and seemed to be in shock.
"Yes, any problem?"
"No, it's nothing. I think I should leave now" She stood up and Mari pouted his lips.
"I haven't felt this way in a long time, people didn't really want to get associated with me" His gaze fell on the meal.
"Why would anyone in their right senses not want to be your friend?" She asked as she sat back on the edge of the bed.
"Because I have a rare blood type that something make me weak and sick"
Dianne's eyes glistened.
