Chapter 4 Payroll Card

The effect of alcohol on Natalie was not good. She didn't sleep well the whole night.

Natalie felt so sorry for him that she wanted to make it up to him. But to be his bride? Wasn't it too much?

They didn't even know each other's names.

"Forget it. You are so beautiful, and you wore such an expensive wedding dress that night. How could you be with a poor man like me?" As he spoke, Jarvis sounded very disappointed, and his eyes dimmed.

Natalie felt even guiltier. She blurted out, "It's not that I dislike you."

A smile fleeted through Jarvis' eyes. He continued to pretend to be pitiful.

"Then do you agree to marry me? My family spent most of our savings on my wedding yesterday. If I can't bring my bride back, I don't know how to explain it to my family. Besides, I have already given myself to you, and you said that you would take responsibility for last night."

For some reason, Natalie just couldn't resist Jarvis' pitiful tone. It made her heart full of guilt.

Somehow, she thought of Rowley.
