Chapter 5 Getting Suspicious

In the Spencer Entertainment president's office, Jayden flicked through the several folders before him and asked Noah expressionlessly, "Are these for Lorna sent by the Development Department?"

Noah nodded. "These are the best resources our company can provide this year, one leading role in a film, two leading roles in two TV series, plus opportunities to participate in two recently popular reality shows. As long as Miss Lorna is willing, I will call the crew and send her over. The company will set up a studio for her. Once the follow-up publicity operations get on track, she will soon become a first-line actress. Her career will be promising, and she will soon win the major awards."

"Forget about the awards." Jayden pushed the documents expressionlessly, tapping the desk with his slender fingers while thinking.

He was acutely aware of his sister's abilities.

Lorna's entering the showbiz was purely a whim. She was not professional or gifted. It would be the crew's luck if she could finish her lines patiently. Expecting her to win an award was no different from daydreaming.

As the showbiz had a complicated environment, Jayden initially did not want his sister to enter the field. However, his parents' doting on Lorna had no bottom line. It was not an exaggeration to say that even if Lorna fancied the stars in the sky, they would find a way to get them for her. Thus, it was nothing but a piece of cake for them to invest in several crews so that Lorna could get some roles.

After pausing for a second, Jayden suddenly asked, "How is Lorna's assistant?"

That muscle Barbie had nearly smashed his desk with a slap.

At the thought of Karen, Jayden's face darkened all of a sudden.

"You mean Miss Wood?" Noah, who still had lingering fears about the interview a week ago, straightened his back and answered cautiously, "She has been following Miss Lorna closely. Actually, Miss Lorna has taken her to many places and bought her quite a few gifts in the past few days."

The look in Jayden's eyes sharpened abruptly. "Lorna bought gifts for her?"

Noah broke out in a cold sweat once again. "Yes. Miss Lorna likes Miss Wood very much as she has chosen the most expensive items, either clothes or jewelry, for her."

Jayden let out a sneer. "Well, it seems that she really likes her."

As Karen's sweet, adorable face flashed before his eyes, Jayden narrowed his eyes slightly, and a trace of disgust emerged in his heart.

In fact, Lorna had never made any friends or built up an intimate relationship with anyone. The long-term hospitalization experience as a child made her extremely insecure. She could not even fully trust Jayden, her brother. In front of others, she always acted like a hedgehog, ready to attack at any time.

Unexpectedly, an assistant who appeared from nowhere gained Lorna's trust within a week and made the latter willing to give her anything.

At the thought of Karen's bright, crystal-clear eyes, Jayden's mouth quirked up as he ordered, "Go and check with Karen Wood."

"What do you want to know, sir?" Noah was somewhat confused.

Those who could enter the Spencer Family were all surveyed to ensure that their background was clean, so was Karen's. What made Mr. Spencer feel uneasy and want to investigate her again?

"The reason why we chose Miss Wood in the first place is that she is easy-going. The chairman and madam liked her at first sight. Also, I've asked someone to verify Miss Wood's skill. She does have the strength of level seven of Sanda. Many professional bodyguards in the company's security department are not qualified to be her opponents. She is more suitable to protect Miss Lorna than those burly female bodyguards. It's kind of natural that Miss Lorna likes her." "Go and check with Lorna." Jayden tilted his body to one side and lifted one arm to support his chin, ordering, "Check if she made any friends during the period when she lived in the sanatorium fifteen years ago."
