Chapter 4 How can you Divorce your wife and bring in a Mistress

"I've already prepared it.

How would I dare slack in the matters that Miss.Valdez instructed?"

Kyle put away his jesting attitude and handed a thick stack of documents to Rhian.

Accepting the documents, Rhian ignored the discomfort from her high fever and started to skim through them rapidly.

Soon, satisfaction spread on her delicately fair face.

"Not bad.

These lawyers are indeed not ordinary people.

They are far more valuable than four hundred million!"

"Pshaw, what good can come from working for Jake?"

Kyle said with a cynical tone, his long legs crossed casually as he leaned against the bed rail.

"I know a few lawyers who are far more powerful than them.

If you need, I can introduce you to them immediately."

"No, I want them," Rhian replied, closing the folder with a firm voice.

From her manner, it was clear that her mood was excellent, seemingly unaffected by the divorce.

"Boss, are you plotting something?

Why do I smell a whiff of conspiracy?"

Kyle suddenly showed interest.

Four years! Four years! Their workaholic goddess seemed to have revived with full vitality, which delighted him greatly.

"Hurry, tell me!" Rhian eyes curled up into a profound smile:

"Why rush? You will discover it soon enough."

Kyle well knew Initial Heart's personality, so he didn't bother to press further.

After all, persistent questioning wouldn't yield any answers.

It would instead get him despised and potentially blocked.

That would undoubtedly break his heart!

"Yet..." Kyle stood straight, tentatively.

"Are you really capable of letting go of that iceberg?"

He was aware more than anyone else that Rhian was utterly infatuated with Jake.

How could someone so deeply in love simply let go so effortlessly?

"And what if I can't let go?"

"Being the wife of Jake is exhausting; it's evidently a losing proposition.

Now, I just want to return to being Rhian Valdez and not Mrs. Rhian Cabrera."

Mr. Cabrera and Mrs. Cabrera showed contrasting expressions upon seeing Lilian,

who was visibly pregnant.

Mrs. Cabrera was delighted, examining Lilian up and down and exclaiming excitedly,

"This is wonderful, you're carrying our Cabrera family's child!"

"You wouldn't know...

Three months ago, when my eldest son unexpectedly passed away, I cried day and night.

I cried so much that I nearly lost sight, there was even a moment when I didn't want to continue living..."

"This child, no doubt, is sent by the heavens to rescue me, this child might even be Johnson reborn.

You must take good care of yourself; you must safely bring this child into the world!"

Mr. Cabrera, however, wore a heavy expression, his brows furrowed, as he glared at Jake.

"You little brat, what the hell are you doing?!"

"You're still married to Rhian, and now you've impregnated another woman.

What are we supposed to tell Rhian?"

"You mustn't forget your obligations and loyalties, you know?

If Rhian's grandfather hadn't saved your grandfather, our Cabrera family would have perished long ago!"

"Four years ago, your grandpa and I promised Rhian's grandfather that we would take good care of Rhian and yet...

Tell me, how am I supposed to explain to your grandpa and to the late old Mr. Valdez ?"

The more Mr..Cabrera thought about it, the angrier he became.

He raised his hand to strike Jake. "

I... I'll kill you!" Upon seeing this, Lilian hurriedly stepped in between Jake and Mr. Cabrera, sobbing as she spoke,

"Sir, please don't be angry. It's all my fault...

I shouldn't have gotten pregnant.

If you think it's bothering you, I'll abort it tomorrow."

"You can't! You can't abort it!

This is the Cabrera family's blood, we should definitely bring it to the world no matter what!"

Mrs. Cabrera protected Lillian behind her, shouting at Mr. Cabrera,

"Why do you care so much about Rhian?"

"If she and Jake truly loved each other, wouldn't they already have children?

It wouldn't be possible for another woman to take advantage of the situation!"

"Have you thought about it?

She's a destitute rich girl, with no skills at all.

Apart from being a brat, she has made no contribution to the Cabrera family at all.

After Mrs. Cabrera finished, she turned to look at the silent Jake and asked, "Son, why don't you say something.

His gaze downcast, landing on Lilian's slightly bulged belly, he spoke indifferently,

"As you can see, Lilian has been pregnant for over three months.

This child is the blood of the Cabrera family, and deserves a respectable status."

"I have already submitted the divorce application to Rhian.

After our marriage is annulled, I will get married to Lilian."

Once Jake finished talking, Mrs. Cabrera and Lilian simultaneously exhaled in relief. Mr. Cabrera was livid to the point of wanting to smack his unfilial son dead with his bare hand!

"You are an ungrateful brat, it's fine to mess around with women's outside, but you.....

you were foolish enough to kick your original wife out to make room for your mistress.

Is there anything wrong with your brain?"

"If Rhian grandpa knows about this, he won't be able to lie still in his coffin.

He was a renowned veteran in his time, commanding hundreds of thousands of the army, so dignified and mighty.

Aren't you afraid he might drag you down with him?"

"Enough of this!"

Mrs. Cabrera crossed her arms and contemptously rolled her eyes,

"Even with all his powers, the Valdez family was still in ruins.

If it hadn't been for our protection of his only granddaughter in these years, the Valdez family would have long been extinct.

They should've thought about all the enemies they made back then.

We took the pressure and married Rhian, making a handful of enemies on the way.

The marriage lasts for four years. After four years, if there's no love, they would peacefully depart.

Just as the couple was on the brink of another argument, Jake knitted his brows in displeasure and he articulated coldly,

"I've said all I have to say. If you intend to fight, please do so elsewhere."

Mr. Cabrera let out a long sigh and lamented,

"Son, you've always been solitary and domineering.

Apart from your elder brother, no one else could change your mind...

If he was still alive, perhaps he could persuade you."

The air immediately turned heavy and sad.

Three months ago, the accidental death of Johnson had struck the Cabrera family with a devastating blow, making the already aloof Jake even colder and more distant.

"If you really want to marry this woman, then I can't stop you.

But, there's one thing, you must promise me otherwise I am going to cut off our father-son relationship!"

"Speak on."

Jake lightly looked at his own father, his handsome face perpetually maintaining that inscrutable look.

"Concerning your grandpa, you must keep this from him.

His heart is not in a good state right now and he is soon going to undergo a heart transplant surgery.

He cannot handle the stress."

"You know that he has always been particularly fond of Rhian, treating her like his very own granddaughter.

If he comes to know that you're divorcing Rhian for another woman, it will surely make his blood boil!"

Jake nodded, "I'll handle it concerning grandpa."

Finally, the couple, Mr. Cabrera and his wife left the mansion.

Before leaving, Mrs. Cabrera incessantly reminded Lilian, treating her like a future daughter-in-law, to take good care of her pregnancy.

Mr. Cabrera, owing to his initial sentiments, did not show any positive attitude towards Lilian.

Thus, all throughout the night, Lilian felt like she was on a roller-coaster, her mood oscillating.

However, irrespective of what Mr. Cabrera and Mrs. Cabrera's attitude towards her was, the key was to see what Jake thought.

Because Jake was the entire Cabrera family and even the whole New York authority;

the one who held the highest say.

At this moment, Jake was standing at the window of the second floor, staring blankly at the sunflowers and Rose flowers in the back garden.

He didn't often come to this mansion and he didn't know when so many sun and Rose flowers had blossomed in the garden.

They were indeed quite attractive. Sun and Rose flowers... only today had he come to know that they were Rhian's favorite flowers.

"Growing towards the sun, overturning the situation against the wind?

So my dearest, are you going to turn things around? Is being the wife of Jake really this challenging?

"Jake!" Lilian walked up to Jake, wiping her tears, whimpering,

"I'm sorry, our child and I have caused you trouble.

Maybe... let's just forget it?" Jake turned around;

in his profound eyes as celestial as the stars, there laid an unspoken sorrow.

With a lump in his throat, he said heavily:

"We can't just forget it. It's the only wish of my late older brother."
