Chapter 3 Intentions in between

Kassandra's POV

My neck stiffened, and my eyes were wide open out of surprise. I'm glad I was facing the other way, or he'd notice my expression. He grabs my shoulder and turns me around to face him. I saw an evil smirk on his lips and that serious expression in his eyes. What kind of trouble have I put myself into?

"W-what are you talking about? I said you should take my advice, but I never said that you'd use me for it. How can you be a hooligan to the woman who saved your dignity!?" I roared.

He just smirks and looks meaningfully at her. I'm more concerned about the problems I've caused by being nosy. But why is that? I don't feel any regret for what I did! Is this what it feels like when you make a good choice and don't wish for other people's sadness?

A smile formed on my lips. I never thought I'd be able to make such a sacrifice for other people's sake. I have been the villain in other people's stories. I've been a spoiled brat since I was a kid, and I love bullying random people.

Because my dad pampered me, he only paid for the things I destroyed or just gave money to the parents and school to shut their lips at once.

"What are you smiling at?" he asks. I shook my head.

"Can you tell them to come inside? Please stay outside and let me talk to you privately. Please..?" I begged. He sighed and stood. They both leave my room, and that couple enters.

"I hope he didn't hurt you," Harvey says. I shook my head and forced myself to take a seat, leaning against the headboard of my bed.

"I hope that you disclosed what happened yesterday, Mr. O'Neil. I know I've asked too much, but that's the best thing for you and him. After all, he didn't care what the public said because he was a mafia boss. If I'm not mistaken, the Cassano Mafia is the strongest on this continent," I said.

They both nodded, and I noticed a weird habit about this couple. They can't look at me in the eyes for a longer period of time. This woman looks at Gabriel with disgust and hatred.

The husband looks at him with rage and... deathly seriousness. I can sense that something is odd about them. Yes, they love each other, and I can see that. But why can't I erase this feeling?

"I'm not going to inquire about your relationships with him. As for the payment of my bills, don't worry about it. I might be homeless and unwanted now. I still have my pride and dignity. I will serve as a janitor if that's the only way I can repay my bills. Also, whatever your reasons and circumstances for your hatred toward each other, this is the only thing that I can say. Your hatred will only bring uncertainty and infinite despair."

"Miss... Tyler. Please accept our assistance. My husband and I are willing to help you out. We will talk about this matter after you're discharged," the woman says.

I simply smile and insist that I don't need their help. I will be fine. I don't want to owe someone from the same circle as my parents. Also, I have to trust my gut. I don't know what's wrong, but owing these two is deadly.

I have to be careful and make sure they won't show any interest in me. They knew that I am a Tyler, and I have to make sure that my family and that man won't hear anything from me again. That's what I promised before I walked away.

"We will leave for now. But here's my calling card. Call me or go to that place to meet me up, okay?" she says.

I grabbed the card and nodded. They both take some steps back when that man stops walking and turns around. He looks at me with a serious expression.

"Don't trust that man. He is a psycho and a racist. Don't believe his words, or else you will be dead," he remarked.

He grabs her hand, and they leave my room. Those two came back, and he saw the card in my hands. I hid it away, and he didn't care about it. Or maybe he does. He was seated on the other bed.

"I don't need any help now. I will talk to the doctors and ask them to put me in the cheapest ward. I will work for my bills. You two can also leave. Thank you for everything," I stated.

"Okay," he says.

His assistant seemed to be hesitant, but he followed him, and they left. I sighed in relief. What I like about being homeless is that I learned a lot. Of course, being a bitch is my second nature, but I will be like that when needed.

I knew Trinidad was worried now. I wish we had phones that we could use to communicate. She became a mother to me. After mom died 10 years ago, I never felt such warmth, and I found that in Trinidad.

I should cheer up and recuperate faster. I was surprised by the past few days that I spent here in the hospital. They didn't transfer me to the cheapest ward and just continued to serve me. I knew one of them was paying my bills secretly. I have to be careful about what will happen next.

"Good afternoon, ma'am. Your discharge paper is ready, and here are your medicines. It was all completed, so come back here after one week for your follow-up check-up. Don't miss taking your medicines, okay?" the nurses say.

I smiled and nodded. I insisted that I didn't need a wheelchair, but they told me to just follow their protocols. They send me to the lobby.

"Thank you," I remarked and smiled at him.

I stood up and saw the clothes I was wearing. They said someone left this dress, and I should wear it because my clothes were torn because of the incident. I sighed and walked away.

But all of a sudden, as I step out of the door, three men step in front of me, and the other one opens the car door. I knew it. My hunch was right.

"Ma'am, please get in," he says.

I tried to find a way to escape, but I knew I wouldn't be able to. I step inside the car, and the two guards are seated on my side and in the two seats in front.

They drove the car, and all I could think about was how to get away from whoever was dragging me out of the hospital. When we arrived at the mansion, my heart was beating so fast that I started to feel nervous. They opened the car door, and I came out.

"Ma'am, follow us, please," he says.

I just do what he says. I remember our mansion. We are living in an exclusive billionaire subdivision here in L.A. But this place... it's Beverly Hills, and I knew this house cost hundreds of millions.

Our eyes meet, and that's when I realize that I'm being watched by Gabriel Cassano. He is sitting prominently, as if I were watching the introduction of a protagonist or antagonist in a movie or drama.

He gave me a seat on the couch. I followed him and looked at him with dignity. I know I have nothing to brag about, but I have to show my pride. He told his men to leave us. His secretary followed him too, and they both left at once. He coughed.

"I never thought you would look stunning when you dressed the way you've always been. You're much prettier personally than these," he says.

He raised his hands, which were holding some of my photos. What would I even expect? Of course, he will conduct a background check. He placed some photos on the table, and I saw Michael and Queenie, who looked happy.

I was hurt. I already knew that I had no right, but-no. I grabbed the photos and tore them apart. His brow furrows as he laughs.

"Do you want to hear how happy they are? You are suffering while your stepmother and stepsister are leaving the royal life because of your dad. Poor you," he says in sarcasm. I scoff.

"Are you trying to trigger me, Mr. Cassano? Oh well, you succeeded, but at the same time, I'm not bothered at all. My dad spoiled me because he didn't love me. He cares less about me and just gives me everything I want as a façade. He is a billionaire anyway, and he needed to maintain his name. Even if I died, I'm sure the government would bury me somewhere. He wouldn't claim my body or even mourn for it."

I saw how his eyes showed amusement. I have no intention of begging my father if he closes his heart to me, and I know that my stepmother is the woman he truly loves. My mom suffers because she never feels my dad's love, not even once.

"So, what is the reason you asked me here? Don't tell me you will abduct me like you did to Kayla." I asked.
