Chapter 5 The Dinner

It was almost 6 Jake was getting ready to go to his fathers for supper when his phone rang. It was Callen asking how everything Was going and Jake remembered he hadn't even told him how everything went down, so he explained everything as he finished getting ready and drove over to his fathers house. Once he pulled in the driveway he said his goodbyes to Callen and walked up to the door. Jason was waiting for him and said come on in. What's for dinner? Jake asked. Jason's replied come see for yourself.

As they walked to the dining room Jake saw two plates with large ribeyes, baked potatoes and steamed broccoli. Wow jake said didn't know we were eating this good. Jason smiled and said glad you approve I had Chad make these fresh. Who is chad? Jake asked. Jason replied he's our chef he prepares all of our meals since Maria passed. Jake couldn't believe it they had a fucking chef to cook all their meals. As they are Jake noticed a sizable stack of papers on the table. What are those he asked. Jason replied oh well get to those after dinner. Jakes suspicion rose alittle bit but he brushed it off. They talked alittle as they ate mostly about Jake and what he did for a living and some of his hobby's. But there was a question burning in jakes head and he finally had to ask. So what do you do? Jake asked. Jason chewed for a minute before saying well I started out in the stock market about 20 years ago and I brokered stock trades for about 5 years and I was really good and made a lot of money and I saved some of that money up and started my own company and put in thousands of man hours building it up to its most profitable most fictional reality and it paid me back every dime I put in it over the course of three years and I sold it for 5 times what I put in it and I've been doing that ever since. So I guess you could say I'm a remodeler of sorts. I buy businesses and remodel them into a more productive and profitable business and then I sell them for 2-5 times more than I bought them for. That's interesting jake said. So you do alot of these? Jake asked. Jason replied oh yes I've gotten to the point to where I'm damn near the biggest business hustler In the world. I remodel hundreds of businesses at a time and they sell on average About 7 months after I purchase them. I thought you said it took 3 years jake asked. Oh yes well that was just my first business after 7 years of buy and selling businesses my reputation has grown to the point that my name on the documents is enough for most big buyers where as with my first couple runs at it no one knew my name or what I could do so they needed a little longer to see evidence that they were buying a profitable business. Jason replied. That makes sense Jake said. Kinda like a cattle rancher who spends 15 years building his brand. Nobody pays to dollar for his stock the first 5 years because he's unknown. Then once he's been around everyone trust his product. Exactly. Jason said. So now I can turn businesses in 7 months with half of the work and I provide a full term business plan for how the buyer can finish out the company to be the best it can be. Wow that's actually really impressive Jake said. Looks like you've finished with your supper would you like to step into my office for a drink and we can talk about this paperwork. Jason asked. Well I never turn down a free drink Jake said with a smile. Right this way Jason said. They walked down a hallway and into a large office type room with a large wooden desk and a very expensive leather chair. Jason walked over to the corner where a large liquor cabinet stood with several fancy looking bottles. What do you drink? Jason asked. Jake replied bourbon if you got any. Oh I have plenty jason replied as he poured them both a glass. He handed it to Jake and Jake took a sip and almost hit the floor. This was the smoothest bourbon he had ever drank. This must be expensive stuff. Have a seat at my desk if you don't mind jason said as he took a seat in his chair. Jake pulled up a seat asked So what is all This stuff? Jason replied this is my gift to you. No. Jake cut him off. I don't want any gifts or anything I'm just here to get to know you. You don't owe me anything and I don't waby anything. Jason smiled I figured you would say that but even though we have just met you are my son and you are entitled to your share of what all my children receive. Now before you argue anymore understand that it's already done. Check your bank account if you don't believe me. Go ahead I'll wait. Jake pulled out his phone real fast and looked. His eyes were as big as the glass he was drinking out of. This morning his bank account read fifteen hundred dollars and know it showed over sixty five million Dollars. I think my heart stoped. Jake said as he stared at his father. How did you get my information? How did you transfer money in less than 10 hours on a Saturday? Jason laughed and said son when your the richest man in the state every bank in wants to be top of your list you can have anything done anytime. And just in case you get any ideas they have been instructed not to transfer one dime of that money back into my account. It's yours and there's no way for you to give it back. Jake couldn't believe what he was hearing. Why? He asked. Jason looked at him seriously and said son I haven't been around for you at all up until this point every single one of my kids received or will receive the same amount on they're 21st birthday. And you are no different. Even though we met later in your life I don't plan to treat you any differently than the rest of my children from this point forward. I I don't know what to say Jake stammered. I've never seen money like this before. This is insane. We'll just take a deep breath Jason said this stack of paperwork is ownership papers of 25 company's I personally remodeled to turn profits of three hundred thousand dollars a year. All they need are your signature and you will be the owner of all 25. You won't have to worry about any of the management of any of them I have hired a management firm to take care of all the logistics. The only thing you will have to do is attend the board meetings every 6 months. And occasionally the board will call a special meeting if there is some kind of internal matter that needs to be decided on but those are rare occasions. Jakes heart had almost completely stopped at this point his face was as white as a ghost. He couldn't comprehend what his father had just said to him.
