Chapter 4 I should let you go.

Lala was busy caring for others and neglecting her child. She was too busy to notice the changes in her body. She can't even remember the last time she saw her period.

Tears filled her eyes as she remembered how foolish she has being in taking care of the people that never regarded her. How she has been striving to keep her marriage without getting anything in return. Her heart was filled with hatred and anger when she acknowledges how wrongfully she was treated in Donald's family, especially since old Donald and his wife died.

Lala made up her mind to fight for herself and her baby. She put her hand on her stomach and gently stroked it.

The man saw how hurt she felt, but don't know how to handle the situation. He simply hands his hankie over to her. She took it and wipe her tears away.

"I have to be on my way. I have settled your bills and you are free to go home. The nurses will give you your drugs. Make sure you take them" he said.

"Thank you," Lala stated again.

The man stood up to leave, he was at the door when he turned back and said.

"I will be back to drive you home in the evening if you don't want to go now."

"You have done enough. I will find my way home" Lala responded.

"If that's what you want then I will leave you now" with that, he left the room.

Lala took a deep breath and open the nylon bag again, She brought out one of the plates and started eating her meal. She must be strong for her baby. She has to eat well to stay healthy.

"From now on, it is only you that matters to me" she whispered, and started rubbing her stomach.

After her meals, Lala called Nancy her best friend.

"Hi, Lala. It has been a while. I am surprised you got the chance to call me today. Aren't you doing any house chores today" Nancy's voice sounded in her ear. She could not hide how irritating she feels to see her best friend waste not only her beauty but also her brain for that good-for-nothing husband of hers.

"Come on Nancy, you don't have to say that all the time. I need your help. Can you please come over to Newland general hospital to pick me up" Lala asked

"What happened to you? Are you alright? I hope you are not hurt by Lucas" Nancy was tempted to say I hope you are not hurt by that idiot but stopped herself just in time

"Just come over and I will tell you everything," Lala responded.

Within a short time, Nancy came to the hospital.

"What happened to you?" She asked.

"I was a little unwell and I decided to treat myself," Lala said. she was not yet ready to tell Nancy anything. She knew how Nancy can behave when she is really upset.

Nancy has been acting as Lala's bodyguard even when they were still young. She was bold and outspoken, unlike Lala who was gentle and introverted. It was Nancy who always fight for her in school whenever any student tries to bully her. However, Nancy was not as intelligent and smart as Lala. She always depends on Lala for her academic success.

That was why she felt hurt when Lala refused the high-paying Job offers she got when she graduated from school. It was at the same time Lucas's grandparents insisted she got married to their grandson.

Lala accepted because that was her way of appreciating them for being there for her when her parents died. She also agreed to that marriage because she genuinely loved Lucas.

"How are you feeling now," Nancy asked. She knew that there is something she was not telling her. However, she chose to ignore it. Knowing Lala very well she will tell her whenever she is ready.

"I am fine. Let's go" Lala said and get up from the bed. True to her word, she felt a lot better. She no longer feels dizzy.

Nancy dropped Lala at her gate. She refused to go inside because she was not ready to pick up a fight with Nadia and her good-for-nothing friend Molly who almost live with them. Nadia was one spoiled brat that doesn't worth spoiling her mood right now and so, she said her goodbyes and drove off.

Lala came back home and saw how everywhere was unkempt. She ignores it and quietly moves to her room. It was obvious that the items used in the party were still liters everywhere in the house. Since she married Lucas, Lucas's mother make sure that all the maids were fired. To her, Lala is capable of running the house because it runs in her blood. After all her mother was a maid and her father a Gardner. So she will do just fine doing all the house chores in their home.

"Where have you been? I have been trying your numbers for the past three days and it was switched off." Lucas shouted the moment he set his eyes on his wife.

Lala ignored him and move to the bed and lay down. Lucas felt hurt because Lala has never ignored him. Before now, She would have knelt and begged him, but today she didn't even glance at him nor greeted him when she came in. She didn't even notice his presence.

Feeling very angry, he grabbed her and pulled her out of the bed.

"Where were you for the past three days" Lucas knew that she was not with Nancy otherwise Nancy would have called him and given him a piece of her mind. She would also not fail to remind him that he will be a dead man if he hurt Lala.

However, Nancy has stopped those threats three years ago after he got married to Lala. So Lala is not with Nancy and Lala has no family so where was she? He thought in his mind.

"Answer me Lala or I will send you to your parents in the grave right now " he yelled and jerk her long brown hair.

"Please stop this you are hurting me." Lala managed to say.

"I should let you go? No way" Lucas muttered.
