Chapter 4 Reborn: My mate is the descendant of the moon Goddess

Jerry led them silently through the forest for three days and on the second they had entered an expanse of Oak trees, Jack too was silent but she could scent the massive pain he was in and made no sound or complained about Jerry's fast paced journey from Aspen; in the three days she could not recall the number of times she changed back and forth as Jerry found time to teach her to hunt and set traps in human form and as wolf how to track, trail and hunt her preys, during those training period Jack was content to be by himself on a tree where after binding himself he could grit his teeth and pa

ss out if it became unbearable which was the routine from day two that made Jerry slow down the pace a little, Lisa was ready to fight if Jerry had ignored, he knew Lisa was blaming herself for his condition so he reassures her he is fine at every good opportunity he got when they were to themselves which was not often. When the night reach with Jerry and Lisa having hunted down the prey for the night or retrieved the animals their traps caught and traps set, Lisa comes to him and the watch Jerry find a spot

surrounded by four Oak trees, he whispers in a strange language to each of the trees which Jack had figured to be the Shamans tongue, after that he calls them to the center where he sets up a bright fire, one that could been seen from a distance in the night. Lisa had question and he had replied that they could not be seen or traced even if the person was out side the tree, only those that he permits can step into this space. Tonight he had done the same thing.

"Jerry," Lisa called from where she his to change to human form, she sounded annoyed to the two men. Lisa had found out when she transforms back, a set of cloths appear on her skin with no indication where it was from; Jerry had told her it was pack's magic only a few member could command in their pack and she was safe. This night she had changed back and it had brought swim suits on her body, when she came out the men could not help but laugh, it gladdened to see Jack smile so she ignored her embarrassment.

"You focused too much on a particular event and it suited you for that purpose, do the change again and just go with the flow, the most appropriate to the situation mostly appears." The mostly part of the speech did not assure her ,she went out of view and the change was more painful.

,"Sit with me" Jerry says to Lisa, she looks up to him from where she was helping Jack rest on the oak tree, now she had a pair of camping outfit and strong boot. It had been three days since they left Aspen and Jerry had not said a word on the journey. Jerry pokes the flame he made out of firewood, rearranges and throws in more wood, Lisa settles beside Jerry watching him turn their catch for the night; a rabbit skinned and cut into parts, run through by a stick over the flames; she picks a stick and pokes the flames. Lisa did not see this side of him much, it warmed her to think he could be: caring and considerate.

"I need to tell you a story about your parents and the reason why those guys were after you." Jerry says after keeping silent for what felt like thirty minute to her.

"You said my parents died from a car crash"

"I said a lot of things, I could not hurt a little girl or tell her I ran away to keep her safe" Jerry says, Lisa knew at this point to let him keep his pride.

"I'm a big girl and a werewolf with a hunter as a boyfriend." Lisa adds, she sees jack smile across his face. Jerry laughs.

"Do you know about the moon goddess ?"

"The goddess that watches over us all in the night"

" I read the goddess fell in love with a mortal man" jack says with his head upraised, he smiles when Lisa frowns at him indicating he should rest.

"You can listen but don't talk too much" Lisa says, Jerry hands over two stick of their night catch; bush meat on a stake, Lisa stands and gives one to Jack frowning

"I won't die today" jack says.

"You need your rest."

Jack nods and turns to Jerry who was watching them " According to the story her father found out and cursed him, turning him into the Demon wolf cursed to live as a phantom in the shadow for eternity"

"What does that have to with our situation ?" Lisa cuts in a mouthful of meat in her mouth making her voice muffled. She just felt the transformation made her more hungry and impatient as she could see Jack grit his teeth when he spoke for long, she felt annoyed that Jerry would allow him talk, she turns frowning at Jerry too. Jerry looks at Jack and they both smile.

"The curse robbed the demon wolf of it's humanity and banished him to the shadow. The moon goddess left him after that; in his rage he vowed to return from the shadows and destroy the world in revenge for the betrayal." Jack adds "That's how much I know the rest of pages were already dust, the book was very old."

The fires dims and Jerry adds more wood, Lisa could see the shape of his biceps as the fire came to life. The area surrounding them had an orange hue and felt strange, she listens with her ears, no sound; that's what felt odd, she looks at Jerry with respect, somehow they were isolated from the outside world; If had any idea what was going on he did not show.

" The moon goddess..." Jerry turns to Lisa who picks another stick to poke the flames "- I need you to listen Lisa."

"I'm thinking why there is no sound in here."

"It's Shaman." Jack says, "Did you not teach her anything ?" Jack asks Jerry.

"I taught her what was necessary." Jerry says and it falls silent for a minute " I need you both to listen. The moon goddess did not leave her lover but came to extract her lover's soul from the phantom leaving behind the vestige filled only with hatred." Jerry says as he hands over another potion of meat to Lisa and Jack.

"The vestige grew with a single outbreak it filled the werewolves with rage and hatred that led to war and a lot of blood shed. It grows stronger by feeding on fears and negative energy and war had the highest negative energy..

The moon goddess seeing the result blessed a female Omega wolf with the ability to purify the vestige and strengthen her pack. It ended with the vestige purified while a little potion escapes into the darkness; the female wolf follows determined to destroy it totally but never came back. I believe she did not succeed. "

"Why ?" Jack and Lisa asks at the same time. Jerry pause to takes a bite from his meal.

"Eighteen years ago the vestige was summoned and consumed by Dimitri an ex-inmate and serial killer who had become a werewolves and was in search power. That added to his power, he recruited exile werewolves and change like-minded inmates to build his army." Jerry adds.

"His only weakness is the one who can banish the vestige and reduce his power, his power grows as it feeds on every destruction he causes and that power he shares with his pack."

"What happened to my parents ?"

"Your mother died during your birth, when you were born. Every werewolf felt an increase in strength and in our pack it was tremendous. Dimitri in fear hunted us down; John, your father disbanded the pack, transferred pack leadership to me and shuts the bond that connects him to us; I left it shut and fled with you to the human city while your father faced Dimitri to buy us time. I don't know if he lives or is dead"

"I killed my parents." Lisa says, she knew it was not true but could not help the blame tugging in her mind and the pain in her chest because of who she is, she had lost her family again and now it was Jack, she felt scared.

"No. They made their choice." Jerry says, it felt like he was in her mind; she looked up and faced him, her wolf coming to the front making her eyes blue.

"It does not change the fact they died because of me!" Lisa says as tears drop down her eyes.

"Lianna, -" Jerry says, his eyes taking a golden yellow glow as he held her gaze. "- your mother, is my sister." His voice sounded tender even with the anger she saw beneath his tone, not at her but at himself; how he must feel about whatever happened, she was hurting him and she needed to stop so she lowered her eyes. Jerry noticed her calm down and kept silent allowing the silence for a moment; he could see her tears still flowing, a physical enemy he would vanquish to stop her tears but right now she needed to release her emotions.

"Female werewolves cannot give birth but Lianna was also a Shaman. Born and raised as Shaman before becoming wolves." Lisa looks as Jerry smiles , she noted it was his first in three days. Even on normal days it was nothing this bright.

" She conceived and it cost her life; knowing her she would have made the same choice." Lisa felt his sadness and heard the pride in his tone, she realized sitting in front her was not just her mean uncle but a man away from people he would lay his life for, to protect their greatest Joy. Jerry had always been a wall she could rest on, guiding her even now.

" You're an Omega and Blessed by the moon goddess, that's why they attacked the town to get you." Jerry voice drove her thoughts away as she focused on his word.

Lisa turns to check on Jack and sees him sleeping, resting on the tree's root, she goes over to lay him well in a sleeping bag. "What is an Omega ?" Lisa asks satisfied with Jack's position, even as he grunts in pain, she pats him to ease the pain and he settles to her touch.

Jerry looks to the sky " Tomorrow draws near, it's late. You should get some sleep" Lisa just stares at him, her brown eyes looking straight at him.

"This is what an Omega wolf is, they don't answer to anyone, between two dominant wolves a hierarchy is established. An Omega just stand out of that hierarchy and none are submissive if not very stubborn which seems to come with the package." Jerry says in a matter of fact voice and Lisa laughs, his aim to cheer her up worked and she never knew him to have humor in his bones.

"An Omega is more like the mediator in a pack, a dominant is compelled to offer maximum protection to an Omega. They have the ability to calm the dominant wolves. " Jerry says and smiles at Lisa.

"Now go to bed we'll talk more In the morning." Jerry watch Lisa make her way to Jack and lay beside him given enough distance not to earn a remark from him, a grin comes across his face as he waits till she sleeps, her breathing even. Jerry looks at Jack in admiration, he knew that a werewolf bite to a hunter was fatal and less than 1% make it after being beaten and for a hunter that had not found his warrior spirit like Jack was less likely to survive. Jerry rests in his sleeping bag, he'll do his best to Jack for Charles, he lays down and shortly he sleeps off..
