Chapter 4 Ex-Boyfriend

Ashton seemed to have just arrived along with his crew, thankfully he didn't see her so Emily immediately sat back in her seat and lowered her head

Lisa looked at her curiously but then she followed her gaze and caught a glimpse of Ashton. She had understood not to say anything and had simply gone back to her discussion with her agent

Emily didn't know how long had passed when the lights had dimmed and a loud booming voice of a mike came on

She recognized the burly man that spoke as a producer as he seemed to introduce someone. Yeah, so the entertainment industry wasn't exactly partial to giving equal treatment to all celebrities because, to be honest, they weren't all equal. Some were as high in the sky while others were just below their feet

" I wonder who Mr. Williamson wants to introduce?"

" It's probably Vaughn. I heard he's coming this year"

" or it could be Luisa Varkender, I heard she was also coming"

Emily Resisted the urge to roll her eyes at the murmurs. Why keep guessing when they would soon get the right answer from the source

" Ladies and gentlemen" Mr. Williamson had begun speaking in his loud cackling voice that made one ears ding " We thank you all for making time to attend this year's grand after-party. Every year we conduct this event to bring us in the entertainment industry together. As the saying goes two eggs are better than one"

Emily wondered if truly there was such a saying or if Mr. Williamson had made it up. The second option seemed more sensible

" This year however we are very honored that some of our most prominent figures have graced the occasion. please help me to welcome Director Mcoy"

There was the sound of clapping from all around her and at that moment Emily refused to admit the way her stomach clenched and how anxious she suddenly became

The tall figure of Vaughn made its way up onto the platform. It didn't seem like he had just arrived at the event though

Vaughn looked more breathtaking up close than she had seen him on TV

The Navy blue tux he wore clad his lean yet muscular figure. His soft black hair fell above his forehead, the length was just above his eyebrow which gave him a soft yet aloof temperament. His phoenix eyes were narrowed slightly and his lips were pulled in a straight line. His skin was very pale and looked incredibly soft. The movie emperor was truly a sight to the eyes

Even with most of the girls swooning Emily felt nothing but fear. Ha! She thought she would be able to face him but now her plans had changed. She would look for the best opportunity to run

She watched Vaughn mumble something to Mr. Williamson who was beaming from ear to ear, but much to the contrast of everyone's expectations, Vaughn didn't address the crowd instead his Assistant did while Vaughn made to take his seat

She would have never expected that he would suddenly pause in his steps and look up to meet her eyes

A cold shiver ran down her spine

His gaze didn't linger though. It was just the way one would look at something insignificance, like glancing at the air. She didn't know if she should feel relieved or flustered. Did he not recognize her? But wasn't that a good thing? Huh! Whatever!

" I'll use the restroom"

" don't stray too far" Lisa warmed

Emily ignored her and made her way toward the restroom but of course, as luck would have it she had to run into Ashton on the way

" Emily? "

She had run away and didn't stop until she was in the restroom. Then again the bathroom door had flung open and her ex-boyfriend came storming in

The man was fuming which caused her to take several steps back

" Are you seriously avoiding me now?" Vaughn asked angrily

His brown hair was pulled back forming a bang that covered one of his eyes, he looked very delicate and had a very beautiful and feminine feature. His pink lips were pulled in an unconscious pout. One of the several reasons she had broken up with Ashton was because he was prettier than her. In the relationship, she didn't know who was the boyfriend or girlfriend

Ashton was too delicate in both features and mind. He was a total crybaby. She remembered the moment she had first met him, it was back when she was still working for Nissa

At that time Ashton had not yet debuted and was still a small fry in the entertainment business, she had been ordered by Nissa to go buy some takeouts. It was at that very cafe where that old hag had worked, she had accidentally run into him the moment she had entered

Emily hadn't taken it seriously and had just brushed him off. But Ashton had ended up stalking her back to the studio and then back to her home

She had found it extremely creepy and had told him she wasn't interested in a boyfriend but who knew that Ashton would burst into tears?

Emily had never been in a situation like this before so she felt at a loss for words and didn't have a choice but accept when he begged her for a date with tearful eyes. Since that day although she didn't hold any romantic feelings for Ashton in her heart she found him to be a very nice boy. So that had been the story of how they got together

Though after a year and a half of dating she had gotten tired of Ashton's possessive yet crybaby ways. She loved him of course but it was more of platonic love, but how could she have possibly explained this to Ashton who at that point was obsessed over her, the guy would burst into tears again and she would end up forgetting about the breakup

But then luck shined on her when Nissa tried to seduce him and Emily had seen her opportunity. Though Ashton had bluntly declined Nissa's offer Emily had still used the situation to her advantage

" I love you Ashton but I feel very insecure. I think Nissa is right and am not the one for you, you have to focus on your career now, and am sure someday you'll find the right girl for you. I am just a lowly manager and I am below your class. Let's break up"

Wasn't that what she had said? Hadn't she forced out some tears to look convincing enough? Hadn't that been the best break-up speech?

But Alas, as expected Ashton had broken down in tears begging her not to break up, Emily had in turn also broken down in tears saying how she just wasn't good enough

She had avoided Ashton like a plague since then, she had even thrown away her phone so he wouldn't call her, changed her apartment so he wouldn't track her, and then even went as far as quoting her job with Nissa ( though till today she still claims that the reason for quitting her job was because she couldn't stand Nissa's ego). She had done everything but alas at the end of the day she really couldn't hide from Ashton forever

" what are you saying? Why would I avoid you?" Emily smiled hoping it didn't look as fake as it felt

Ashton frowned as he took another step towards her, Emily's back was already against the sink so she couldn't move further back to create some much-needed space

" I was extremely worried, I looked for you everywhere but couldn't locate you. Your sister said you had moved away?"

Emily swallowed as her mind worked fast to come up with a quick lie
