Chapter 5 Car Accident

In a daze, Randall felt as the doctors lifted him onto an operating table.

He soon felt something tugging at his right hand. His hand became a little stiff before he lost consciousness.

It wasn't until the next morning that Randall regained consciousness.

A chink of sunlight peeped through the curtains. It made everything seem so unreal.

Randall raised his right hand slowly. He tried to ball it into a fist.

To his surprise, his right hand wasn't shaking like before. He also didn't feel the tearing pain.

When Randall saw the small needle holes at the back of his hand, palm, and wrist, his eyes widened in surprise.

Medicine was his only forte.

Although his IQ was up to 200, he was only interested and talented in medicine.

Randall couldn't help picturing the operation process in his head when he saw the needle holes that were already covered in blood scabs. He tried to figure out how his damaged nerves came together.

"Stop thinking about it! The operation was carried out with the use of advanced nanotechnology. In the world, only about ten doctors can carry out such an operation successfully. It's not something you can understand and achieve for now."

Stewart came into the ward while Randall was lost in thought.

He looked like he had aged a few years. He supported himself with a walking stick as he walked to Randall's bedside.

"Dr. Turner!" Randall called out.

"From now on, I'm your teacher!" Stewart flashed him a smile. "You are a talented young man, Randall. I'm confident that you can perfectly learn my medical skills once I teach you. In fact, you will surpass me in this field!"

"Me?"

Randall pointed at himself, finding it hard to believe he could do such a thing.

How could he, a nobody, surpass the No.1 doctor in the world?

"Yes, you! I have no doubt about it. You are like unrefined gold. I have never met anyone with an IQ as high as yours. With the right guidance, you will make giant strides in the medical field. Or don't you want me to be your teacher?"

Randall got out of bed and said without hesitation, "I want you to be my teacher. It would be a great honor to be tutored by you."

"That's good to know."

Still smiling, Stewart nodded and took out a mobile phone. He handed it to Randall. "Here you go. There are videos of the surgeries I have carried out in the past twenty years. You should study them first."

"Wow! Thank you, Dr. Turner!" Randall willingly took the phone.

For the next few days, Randall locked himself up in the ward.

He watched all the videos and studied each procedure. He practically got drunk with knowledge.

His ardent study went on and on until he received a message on his personal phone.

"Randall! Don't forget that we are supposed to attend a medical exchange meeting today."

This message was from Dorcie Riley.

The seminar had skipped Randall's mind. He checked his calendar, only to find that the days had gone by quickly.

Dorcie was a professor of the department of neurosurgery at Herdale Medical School. She was one of the few people who cared about Randall before and after he got disabled.

She was invited to a medical seminar held by Wesson Medina, the head of Herdale General Hospital. As a professor, she was entitled to bring three medical students with her.

Randall was one of the students she chose.

When he told Stewart about it, the latter smiled brightly.

"I didn't expect that Wesson is now qualified to hold a medical exchange meeting now. How time flies! I know about the meeting. It will be held in Bredon Hotel, right? Well, I own that hotel. It's currently worth five hundred million dollars in the real estate market. It's yours from now on. That's my first present to you as your teacher."

Stewart went on to tell Randall to go to the seminar in his luxury car, but the latter politely refused. He left the hospital and took a taxi.

On the way, Randall pondered about what just happened.

Stewart gifted him a five-star hotel worth millions! And he mentioned it was his first present. Did it mean he would offer more presents in the future?

Randall had only seen people receive such gifts in movies. He didn't know if his heart would be able to contain the excitement if he received more.

The honking sound of vehicles jolted Randall back to reality. He looked around only to find that the taxi he was in had halted and the entire road was jammed.

"Traffic report just coming in indicates that there has been a car accident in the middle lane of East Marseille Road. A nine-year-old boy was injured. Due to the traffic, the ambulance will take about thirty minutes to arrive. First aid is urgently needed. Any doctor nearby should do well to save the boy's life."

"I am a doctor!"

Once Randall heard the news from the taxi broadcast, he opened the door and got out.

As he looked around for the scene of the accident, he bumped into two familiar people-Perry and Tonya.

"Hey, loser! Your right hand is damaged. Why are you getting worked up about the accident?" Perry made snide remarks once he set eyes on Randall. "How about you take a look in the mirror? A handicapped person can't help an accident victim."

"Perry, let's not waste our time on this pauper. The sight of him is making me sick!"

The two evil lovebirds echoed each other with disdain in their voices.

As Tonya spoke, she flaunted the new Hermes bag she had on her shoulder.

The once-so-friendly beauty was now a contemptuous bitch.

At the thought of how he got injured because of her, Randall wanted to pounce on the two of them.

But he restrained himself.

Fighting with these two wasn't as important as saving the boy's life.

Ignoring them, Randall quickly ran towards the scene of the car accident.

After moving through the crowd, he saw a black Mercedes-Benz whose bumper was crushed. The hood emitted smoke. A grey-haired man was kneeling beside the body of a bleeding boy on the tarred ground.

The old man was crying at this time. He looked down at the boy's body which was riddled with shards of glass. "Is there a doctor here? My grandson is injured. He needs first aid. Somebody help!"
