Chapter 7 Rescue Serena

The morning rain made the village even muddier. Luca stepped carefully into a room. There are many shoe prints on the faded brick floor.

"No. 2, long time no see."

Monster No. 3 stood in the hallway on the 2nd floor, waving to Luca. His smile was as innocent as a child's. But Luca knew that behind that angelic smile was a demon.

That year Luca was not allowed to confront No. 3 directly, but Luca still heard his reputation. No. 3's fighting ability is not good, but his movement speed is very agile. Most of his opponents lost to him from exhaustion.

The dim oil lamps on the wall in front of each room could not illuminate the whole place. Time passed quickly, and Luca felt worried for Serena. Luca rested his back against the wall. If he continued to search room by room like this, he would never be able to find Serena.

When Luca was in despair, a series of sounds sounded like a light illuminating his path. The sound echoed as if someone was knocking on the wall with a lamp. Luca realized this was how to type the code he had taught Serena.

"Serena, where are you?"

Luca knocked on the wall. On the other side, Serena quickly typed in the reply code.

"I don't know. It's the same around every room. I can't tell the difference."

Luca didn't know how to find Serena. But roughly, Luca can see the laws of this place.

"Serena, now you go forward. Stand at the crossroads."

It took about two minutes for Serena to reply to Luca. She stood at the intersection, waiting for the next instruction from him. She trusted him.

"Serena, at the crossroads you turn right, meet the road junction you turn left. If you see the stairs, go down."

Serena followed Luca's lead. Luca is the opposite of Serena. He moves forward, turns left at the intersection, and turns right at the junction, meeting the stairs and then going up. The two of them would be able to meet.

Luca sped up the pace. He knew Monster No. 3 was somewhere around here. He was faster than Luca. If No. 3 finds Serena, she'll be in danger.

Luca sensed danger. He spun around, a shadow flickering over Luca's side. Blood from Luca's arm fell to the floor. Monster No. 3 attacks Luca.

That year, TW ranked Luca in 2nd place because Luca's strength was only inferior to No. 1. No. 3 has only agile speed. He has no power to attack. So when meeting a strong opponent, No. 3 will not dare to approach. This is his weakness.

"Number 2, how can you protect her?"
