Chapter 3 A Brave Woman

Ares' POV:

I could tell from Demi's reaction that she was afraid of me. When I saw the tears in her eyes, my heart softened, and I stopped teasing her.

I took out my laptop, and my fingers quickly tapped on the keyboard. I decided to start working to divert my attention.

I intended to give my club a major overhaul. I needed to add some new slot machines. I was also considering building a new stage for dancers and performers.

I hurriedly pulled Demi over and hid her behind the front seat. She was in a daze, obviously confused about what was going on.

I stared into Demi's eyes and warned in a low voice, "Listen to me. If you don't want to die, just lie here quietly."

After making sure that she was in a safe position, I opened the hidden compartment under the seat, took out the gun, opened the door carefully, and got out of the car.

Gio also got out of the car, cautiously crawled to where I was, and reached out to me.

I handed him a Vector and turned to check the Uzi in my hand. After I confirmed that there was no problem with the gun, I sneaked to the other side of the car. But at this moment, the gunshot suddenly stopped.

I wondered why, so I poked my head out to check the situation. And I was surprised by the scene in front of me.

Ten men with heavy assault rifles appeared on the opposite side, aiming at my car. One of them even held an RBG, looking ferocious. I couldn't help cursing in a low voice, "Fuck!"

The other men screamed and cursed. They also fired. It took Gio and me five minutes to kill all ten of them.

When I thought it was over, I turned to look at Demi, wanting to comfort her. But I was shocked to see that someone was pointing a gun at the back of her head.

Demi looked at me with fear in her eyes. But I could see her gritting her teeth. I could tell that she was trying not to scream.

I pounced on the man, knocked off the gun in his hand, and tussled with him.

Then I punched him twice in the abdomen. But he didn't fall down. He still fought against me stubbornly.

When he was about to punch me, I blocked his fist with one hand and rummaged for the dagger in my pocket with the other.

Although I successfully took out the dagger, I got distracted and was accidentally pushed to the ground by him. He straddled my waist. His face flushed with excitement as he tried to push the dagger into my chest.

At this critical moment, Demi screamed in horror and kicked the man away.

The man's eyes opened wide in disbelief. He hurriedly reached out to cover his throat with gurgling blood. But he was still unable to resist death. After a while, he stopped breathing.

I took a deep breath and stood up.

When I heard this, I looked down and found the white shirt under my suit was dyed red with blood. It looked terrible. I clicked my tongue, dusted my clothes, and gave Demi a reassuring smile. "It's not my blood."

Gio and I walked around the scene and scanned the massacre we had created.

He sighed, put our dead driver into the trunk of the car, and called someone to deal with the mess we left on the street.

After this, we got in the car and continued our journey.

Ares, I have already reminded you. Even though your family smile at you and flatter you, they all have secret evil intentions. They don't want you to take that position, Gio complained while driving.

But I chose to ignore his words because I knew them well.
