Chapter 5 Lucia's Pomposity

Lucia walked into the Drama Club's Hall in the school with two girls, also my classmates. She was in between them as they walked in.

The Drama Club were acting a play on stage. My brother Sanchez was acting the role of the leading character. The three girls walked down the hall, towards the stage.

"I love acting a lot...I want to be part of the Drama Club", said Lucia.

"This school has a lot of good actors and actresses", the girl by her left spoke to her.

"Can't wait for you to meet Sanchez. He's the best of all of us. He's always playing the leading male character's role and I bet he's doing so today also", the girl by her right expressed excitement, clapping her hands together lightly.

"I love people who are good in acting...can't wait to meet him also", she smiled. They got to the stage, in the middle of a play. They joined the other members, the ones that weren't performing on stage and sat down with them.

"Who's the Sanchez on stage?", she asked her two new friends.

The second one replied;"Simple test! Look out for the best performer and tell us."

"Yeah! Can you do that?", the first questioned Lucia, in support of what the second suggested.

Lucia made a sound of boredom but decided to go through the test. She paid close attention to what was happening on stage.

She shook her head in disapproval when after she watched the people on stage at that moment, felt the Sanchez boy was not there. "From what they described about him, I don't think he's here", she said to herself.

A while later, he walked onto the stage. At first she got attracted by his handsomeness but when she saw him act, she genuinely adored him as a person.

"I think that's the Sanchez you guys were talking about", she said to the two girls.

"Oh God! Even a newcomer was able to identify him by his acting", the first said to the second, happy about it. The second nodded her head in agreement and response.

Lucia gazed at my brother with an impressed look on her face. "He's really good", she thought.

When the play was over, all the actors...like all that acted, were exchanging pleasantries with each other. As Sanchez hugged a girl, he saw Lucia with her friends staring at him.

He hurriedly went down the stage to go meet them. He was really happy to see Lucia in the hall. He hit his leg on a chair because he only was concentrated on getting to Lucia.

"Hey I'm Sanchez, I'm in Grade 12 and I'm your biggest fan", my brother introduced himself with so much enthusiasm.

Lucia giggled and brought out her hand for a handshake and they shook hands. Everyone around were surprised seeing Lucia shaking hands with someone.

"You know my name already, I'm in Grade 11 and I love your acting. I'm already a fan of your acting. Maybe one day, we're gonna act on stage together.

Sanchez was so happy he was being commended by a celebrity. He opened his mouth to say something but he was extremely startled, just leaving his mouth slightly opened...as though he was out of words for a while. "Thanks a lot...I'll be grateful acting on stage with you", he forced those words out of his mouth, stammering, prolly because he was super excited. Lucia returned a faint smile and a nod.

"Hello! I'm Mr Donald, head of the Drama Club. I'm also a staff here", he joined them, referring to Lucia.

"Hello Sir!", she greeted. She shook hands with Mr Donald, initiating it.

"I'm glad to see you here. When I heard you were now a student here, I had a fervid feeling you'd join the Drama Club", he giggled.

"Well yeah! I love acting so I'll surely love to be part of the Drama Club", she replied.

"We all would be honored to have you in this club", he pat her on the shoulders and walked away.

Lucia sighed and spoke to Sanchez;"I gotta go...see you some other time."

"Yeah! Maybe in our next practice", replied with a grin.

Lucia began walking away. The two girls waved Sanchez a goodbye and joined her. Sanchez watched them walk away. "She's really sweet", he thought.

Back at home after school's session, I was flipping through the pages of my chemistry textbook when my brother interrupted me with a silly question.

"Did you see Lucia today? She's really a nice person", he asked.

"Ignoring the second sentence, I replied at him vaguely. "She was enrolled into my class so...yeah!"

"So how was she? Isn't she nice?", he sat beside me with a smile, so curious to hear me say something about his celebrity God...like why was he asking me such questions man?!

I feigned a smile and replied;"Yeah! Yeah! She's the nicest person in the whole universe."

My bro gazed at me with surprise. "What you said could be true but I have a feeling you were tryna be sarcastic", he said to me.

I then showed him my true face...the annoyed one. "That girl isn't nice...okay she only replies to people she feels are cool...prolly you guys had a chitchat today, she replied to you because she feels you're cool", I replied levelly.

"I don't understand. Did she say anything rude to you?", he asked with concern.

"Oh no!", I replied with disgust, "Who'd even want to talk to her...me? She made a dude in my class to get up from his seat and move to another just because she's a goddess that wants to sit down wherever she wants to", I raised my voice slightly.

My brother kept quiet at that point, he had nothing to say to defend his role model. I knew I was the one with the upper hand, so I decided to fire another.

"That's it...all her fans keep quiet to every bad thing she does...that's why she can't ever fess up", I increased my voice the more.

Sanchez got slightly frightened and stood up. He pulled his chair away a lil bit from me and sat down again. "I think I should keep a safe distance because I can clearly see you're off your rocker right now", he said to me.

I replied at him cool-headedly this time, inclining my head towards him. "You said she said was nice to you...that was because she saw you as cool. I mean look at you", I gested, "one of the hottest guys in school, a big time playboy, almost always having a roll in the hay with lots and lots of girls, so...you've gained popularity. She must have seen you as one of the biggest and hottest boys at school...so what did you expect?" I breathed out calmly after the long talk.

Sanchez gazed at me for a while which I didn't like a single bit. "Everyone has the right time select his or her friends...same rule applies to Lucia right? If she doesn't wanna associate with some kind of people, what's the big deal?", he asked rhetorically.

"There's a difference between not associating and being rude", I replied sharply.

Knowing clearly well I'd won in the argument, Sanchez only sighed and walked away. Honestly, as I watched him go away, I felt really sad. I never liked it whenever I got into an argument with Sanchez. This time, I felt he was supporting the wrong person obviously...I blamed Lucia for the argument we had.

Hope brothers bond won't be broken because of this...
